Commencement Speaker: John HayesPresident and Chief Executive Officer, Ball Corporation

Master of Business Administration Beta Gamma Sigma Initiates

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is the highest recognition a student can receive in a program in business or management. To be eligible for membership, a student must rank in the upper twenty percent of the graduating master’s class.

Beta Gamma Sigma has three purposes:

· To encourage and honor high academic achievement by students of business and management through chapters in AACSB - Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

· To foster in BGS members an enduring commitment to the principles and values of the society: honor and integrity, pursuit of wisdom, and earnestness.

· To support the advancement of business thought, at both the national and chapter levels, so as to encourage lifelong learning for the society’s members and other constituents.

Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is a signal honor carrying a lifetime affiliation with other outstanding graduates of business programs.

Ball Aerospace provides spacecraft, instruments and other technologies in support of space and Earth science, exploration, national security and intelligence programs, and helped pioneer the development of the commercial remote sensing market.

Mr. Hayes joined Ball Corporation in 1999. He has served as President and Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and President of Ball Packaging Europe. Mr. Hayes has also held positions in corporate planning and development, corporate strategy, marketing and new product development.

The Leeds School of Business is proud of its focus on exploring how ethical, sustainable business practices can enhance the bottom line. It is also proud of its dedication to programs that help the world understand the impact that business has on society.

The School’s professors are among the best in their fields, including leaders of national professional associations, winners of numerous teaching awards, and recipients of major research grants.

Additionally, the reputations of the Robert H. and Beverly A. Deming Center for Entrepreneurship, the Richard M. Burridge Center for Securities Analysis and Valuation, and the Real Estate Center at the University of Colorado at Boulder play a key role in the School’s success.
