Opening Litany

We are a Resurrection people called by God to live a Resurrection life.

Christ is risen, Christ is risen indeed!

We live our lives each day

knowing that Christ has opened the way to new life

to be lived in fullness and forgiveness each and every day.

Even when our lives take us through the dark valleys,

we know we are never alone;

our Risen Lord is always with us,

in our interactions with our brothers and sisters in this world.

Amen.

So let us not deny the resurrection in our lives,

but rather go boldly into the world

knowing that in this resurrection life we are a forgiven people

as we share the good news of God’s grace,

in word and deed with the world around us.

Amen.

The LORD is our shepherd,

we shall not want

for the Lord makes us lie down in green pastures,

3

and leads us beside quiet waters.

The Lord restores our souls

and guides us in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for the Lord is with me;

the Lord’s guidance comforts me.

For the Lord prepares a table for us

in the presence of those who would harm us.

The Lord provides us with all we need

and our cup of blessing overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow us all the days of our lives,

And we will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

• Song of Praise “Happy” by Pharrel Williams (sing the Refrain)

Because I’m happy

Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof

Because I’m happy

Clap along if you know that Jesus is the truth

Because I’m happy

Clap along if you know that he died and rose for you

Because I’m happy

Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do.

Gathering Song & Mini-Meditation for Children

(Children are invited to come forward during the song.)

Lord, let my heart be good soil,

open to the seed of your word.

Lord, let my heart be good soil,

where love can grow and peace is understood.

When my heart is hard, break the stone away.

When my heart is cold, warm it with the day.

When my heart is lost, lead me on your way.

Lord, let my heart, Lord let my heart, Lord, let my heart be good soil.

Hymn of the Day “Praise to God” by Jan Berry (tune Nettleton)

(During the hymn, YES! Sheets are collected.)

Praise to God, the world’s creator, Praise to God, the Spirit in us,

Source of life and growth and breath, Prompting hidden depths of prayer,

Cradling in her arms her children, Firing us to long for justice,

Holding them from birth to death. Reaching out with tender care.

In our bodies, in our living, In our searching, in our loving,

Strength and truth of all we do, In our struggles to be free,

God is present, working with us, God is present, living in us,

Making us creators too. Pointing us to what shall be.

Praise to God, our saving Wisdom,

Meeting us with love and grace,

Helping us to grow in wholeness,

Giving freedom, room, and space.

In our hurting, in our risking,

In the thoughts we dare not name,

God is present, growing with us,

Healing us from sin and shame.
