WARNING: Risk of Explosive Gases1. A lead-acid battery is dangerous because it can generate explosive gases during normal battery operation.

2. To reduce risk of explosion, follow these instructions and those of the battery manufacturer and of any equipment you intend to use in vicinity of battery. Review warning on these products and on battery.3. Make sure someone is close enough to come to your aid when you are working with a lead-acid battery.4. Avoid touching eyes while working with a lead-acid battery. Wear complete eye and clothing protection.

If acid should get into your eye, flush immediately with cold water for 10 minutes, and get medical attention.6. Never smoke while working with a lead-acid battery. Do not allow a spark or flame to get near the battery.7. Be careful to not drop any metal tool or object onto the battery as sparking may occur. This may create an explosion hazard.

8. A lead-acid battery can produce a short-circuit current strong enough to weld metal to skin. Remove all jewellery

and personal metal items when working with a lead-acid battery.9. Do not use the portable power source to charge dry-cell batteries. These batteries may burst and cause injury and damage to persons or property.

10. Do not attempt to charge or boost a frozen lead-acid battery.11. Even though the portable power source is equipped with polarity protection, prevent clamps from touching each other or contact the same metal to prevent accidental arcing.12. 19. The portable power source should never be left in a total discharge state for any period of time. Damage to the battery could be permanent. When not in use, leave the portable power source connected to the wall charger or recharge every six (6) months.

OPERATIONAL AND SAFETY DESIGN FEATURES.1. The portable power source provides more then enough starting power for most vehicles. May also be used in deep cycle applications.2. The portable power source will power most 12 volt DC equipment with a male cigarette DC plug.3. The portable power source comes equipped with DC automatic overload protection.4. The portable power source contains 2x 12 volt sealed batteries.

Important NoteUnauthorised modifications to the portable power source, notexpressly approved by the party responsible for radio frequencyemission levels from the portable power source, may cause anincreased amount of radio frequency energy to be emitted.Such a modification could void the customer’s authority to usethe portable power source.

FIRST TIME CHARGE PROCEDURESWhen first purchased the portable power source should becharged for a minimum of 30 hours, unless all the power levellights and the charged light comes on when the test button ispressed.

The power source can only be charged at 12V. Turn switchto 12V System and Recharge then recharge power source.

Important! Charge Jump Start for a minimum of 24 hours prior to initial use.1. Using 2 amp, 4 Stage Switch Mode Charger/Maintainer provided. a. Plug one end of the power extension cord into the portable power source DC receptacle and connect to the harness device of the Switching Power Charger. b. Connect the charger to the AC outlet (the orange standby/charging light will turn on) c. Allow the portable power source to charge until the charged light illuminates on the Switching Power Charger.

d. Once the charged light comes on, device can be disconnected from the Switching Power Charger.

Note: You can press the TEST button to check power level.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS USE AS A BATTERY CHARGERThe portable power source can be used to restore a limitedcharge to the vehicle battery.1. Using the DC extension cord included with the portable power source, plug one end into the portable power source. Plug the other end into the vehicle cigarette outlet. Allow the battery to charge for 30 minutes.

2. Some vehicle ignitions must be turned to accessory to activate the cigar lighter socket. A defective battery may not accept a charge from the portable power source.3. Remove the power extension cord and start the vehicle.

USE AS A JUMP STARTER IN EMERGENCIESFor optimum performance, do not store below 10°C when usingas a jump starter. The portable power source will only jumpstart a battery if there is more than 3 volt DC of powerremaining in the battery. If the battery is below 3 volt DC,please refer to, “Operating Instructions: Use as a batterycharger”, and follow the instructions to recharge the battery.

1. Ignition MUST be turned off before making cable connections.2. Be sure you operate the portable power source in a well ventilated area.3. Be sure eyes are appropriately protected with safety eyewear.4. Attach the red (positive +) clamp to the positive terminal on the battery.5. Attach the black (negative -) clamp to the vehicle frame.6. Be sure that all cables are clear of moving belts or fan blades.7. Keep a safe distance from battery while jump starting.8. Turn on the vehicle ignition. If the vehicle does not start after 6 seconds, let the portable power source cool for 3 minutes before attempting to start the vehicle again. Damage could result to the unit if this is not done.9. After the vehicle has started, disconnect the black (negative -) clamp from the vehicle frame. Then remove the red

(positive +) from the battery terminal. The yellow Charging light will remain lit until the red (positive +) cable is disconnected from the battery. After use, store the clamps in the compartments.

USE AN AS ALTERNATIVE POWER SUPPLYSince most vehicles have electronic components (alarmsystems, radios, etc) whose memory can be lost when thebattery is disconnected, the portable power source is a usefultool when replacing a battery. By connecting the DC extensioncord to the vehicle’s cigarette lighter, the memory can beretained.

USE AS A MULTIPURPOSE POWER SOURCE1. The portable power source can also be used to power any equipment that incorporates a 12 volt DC male adapter. The DC outlet on the portable power source comes equipped with overload protection. DC power will be generated only through the DC outlet.2. Used with an inverter, the portable power source can operate appliances normally powered by 220 Vac. A 300 Watt maximum inverter is recommended.

TROUBLESHOOTING

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONSQ: How many jump starts can I expect from a fully chargedunit before needing to be recharged?A: Depending on the engine type and size, condition of batteryand temperature, the portable power source can be used 30times before recharging.

Charger works well but thereis no volt charge on the voltmeter when the SwitchingPower Charger is connected tothe Portable Power Source.

a) Possible defective battery or faulty breaker. Try using a device (light, TV, etc) with a DC plug on it to see if it works.b) If it works, the portable power source breaker is operational and the battery may be the issue.

Charger comes up fullycharged but when test buttonis pressed, volt meter showslow voltage.

a) Portable power source has a defective battery. May be caused by intense use without allowing a cool down period.b) Use a DC plug to connect other battery or device to see if volt meter analogue indicator moves. If not, replace volt meter.

Portable power source is fullycharged, but has no power.

a) Check where the wire meets the jaw on the portable power source clamp. Make sure they are well crimped, or if your unit has a power switch, make sure it is in the ‘On’ position.

When trying to use anaccessory through the DCoutlet, a clicking sound comesfrom inside the portablepower source.

a) The accessory is drawing too many amps, causing the internal circuit break to cycle ON and OFF.

Q: What is the ideal storage temperature of the portable powersource?A: The portable power source will operate most effectivelywhen stored at room temperature. The unit will also operateunder below zero degree conditions, but with less crankingpower. Excessive heat will accelerate self discharge.

Q: When recharging the unit, when should I know the powersource is fully charged?A: Check the wall charger indicator or press test button tocheck voltage from volt meter. If the analogue indicator is over14V, battery is fully charged.

Q: How long should I charge the portable power source?A: The portable power source should be charged for a minimumof 30 hours when first purchased. To recharge with the A/Cadapter, the unit should charge 4 to 6 hours for every light notlit when the test button is pushed. The unit can be left on thewall charger continuously without damaging the unit.

Q: Can the self contained battery be recycled?A: Yes. Please see REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL instructions.
