In contrast to coatings with frictional connection, cleats allow for a synchro-nous traction of the goods to be con-veyed in conveyor drives. furthermore, they e. g.
• convey the goods in longitudinal di-rection and / or sideways and align them if necessary
• position goods on the conveyor belt
• separate the goods
• allow for high acceleration and / or high speeds
• synchronise the goods to be conveyed with the belt
optibelt alpHa SpeCIal– WItH CleatS
the optibelt cleat range offers a great number of cast blanks and cleats which can directly be used for many different applications. in case none of these cleats are suitable, an appropriate cleat can be produced
• by adapting the present cleat via mechanical processing
• by producing an appropriate cleat in a customised injection mould
The production in a dedicated injection mould is suitable for simple cleat shapes in medium volumes and for more com - plex shapes in small volumes. it can be carried out in the company’s own tool shop.

optibelt alpHa SpeCIal– CuStomISeD SolutIoNSThe processing of Pu timing belts is one of our specialities. Due to many years of experience we develop optimum solutions for special applications of our customers in the segments of conveyance, food, packaging, glass, wood, linear drives and medical applications.
• All product groups of endless and joined belts can be used for conveyance. examples of applications are: parallel and synchronous conveyors, inclined conveyors, accumulating conveyors, vacuum conveyors, separators or work-piece postioners, exhaust units
• The base belts which were selected according to the requirements can be adapted to the special type of conveyance if necessary via coatings and /or cleats
• The base belt, the coating and the cleat can all be additionally adapted in geometry and dimension via mechanical processing.
These forward machined special belts are labelled “SpeCiAl” in addition to their actual product group name.
example: The product group name of an endless welded optibelt alpha V polyurethane timing belt with additional coating is changed to optibelt alpha V SpeCIal.

for a special machinery manufacturer optibelt has deve - loped a solution (see picture 2), for the conveyance of cut- on-demand material (pipe, square and rectangular profiles) – without changing the belt type.
furthermore, a slipping of the cutted material due to the start-stop-frequency has to be prevented. the belts (depending on the number of pieces 4-6 belts) do run synchronously in parallel depending on the lengths of the cutted profile. The belt back is equipped with foam profiles (Sylomer R, blue, Pu foam) and Pu cleats in order to ensure a conveyance with exact positioning of the individually cut profiles.
Picture 2: customised solution for the conveyance of cut material
the example given in picture 1 presents a customised solution for the conveyance of semi-finished products. In this particular case, an optibelt alpha V AT20 – ST was coated with the coating material Sylomer L, green, Pu foam. Afterwards, grooves and holes were cut out via water jet, and vacuum pockets were milled with an nc milling machine. With such belt the semi-finished products can be conveyed on to further processing steps via vacuum technology.
The customised solution shown in picture 3 was ordered by a customer from the pet / animal food industry in order to convey empty pet / animal food packaging to filling stations. The belt back was coated with a natural rubber (RP 400, yellow) and equipped with cleats. The welded cleats have an additional glass fibre reinforced protective layer in order to counter the high shear forces of the sharp-edged pet / animal food packaging. Furthermore, the cleats ensure an exact positioning of the goods to be conveyed.

All rubber and polyurethane timing belts of the optibelt product portfolio can be provided with various coatings for use in tubular bag packaging machines. with the aid of these timing belts, the foil that was previously sealed in longitudinal direction forming a tube is withdrawn from a filling tube. Due to an additional sealing in transverse direction, a bag is pro-duced that can then be filled. Such a bag is sealed completely by another transverse seal. this system is used globally in the food and non-food sector. from potting soil over frozen products up to salad, consumer products are packed in this manner every day.
in this area, the optibelt alpha SpeCIal discharge belts with and without vacuum support have proven successful, with common profiles such as T10, L and H being available in various length ranges.

One particular feature are the rubber timing belts with special coatings. these are produced on the basis of the base belt in a vulcanization process, with the applied coating neither exhibiting a bonding or a joint. The materials used are Red Rubber 40 and silicone rubber. However, also Linatex® and other rubber types can be applied subsequently with a joint on the belts. In addition, polyurethane coatings – e.g. with Pu 06 foam, yellow – are possible. The requested material is likewise applied subsequently or by endless spraying.
However, if higher cycle times are used for the packaging machines, timing belts with vacuum support are the suitable choice. optibelt offers various variants and designs of the tooth-sided grooves and vacuum recesses.

– Cleat SeleCtoRFINDINg tHe RIgHt CleatWith an online tool, OPTIBeLT now enables the quick and clear access to its comprehensive cleat range. Using this cleat selector, customers can select their individual transport solution from a standard spectrum of more than 400 different cleat shapes, specifically for their application, or adjust them subsequently to their requirements. in the selection mask of this online tool, the most important base data regarding shape, material and dimensions of the cleats can be accessed. After that, each hit with the associated information can be downloaded free of charge as PDF or cAD file.
– Data SHeet SeleCtoRCuRReNt Data SHeetS oN DemaNDThe data sheet selector allows a quick and clear online access to data sheets of the optibelt product groups optibelt alpha TorQUe, optibelt alpha power, optibelt alpha flex, optibelt alpha lINear and optibelt ALPHA V. by selecting the base belts, profiles and tensile reinforcements, the corresponding data sheet for the timing belt can be found. the data sheet does not only include the most important base data of the belts, but also relevant design data, such as minimum diameter for pulleys and idlers. each data sheet can then be downloaded free of charge as PDF file.
– pRICe CalCulatoR QuICk CoSt SummaRYwith the aid of the price calculator, the prices of the standard products optibelt alpha flex, optibelt alpha lINear and optibelt alpha V of the segment OPTIBeLT Material Handling can be inquired quickly and easily online. Depend-ing on the selected base belt with the requested profile, it is displayed which tensile reinforcements are available and which fabric combinations are possible. based on this, the prices for the suitable drive solutions can be calculated specifically. After that, a corresponding, official quotation indicating price and delivery time may be requested.
