COURSE OUTLINE The Graduate Diploma of Health Research (GDHR) and the Master of Health Research (MHR) will equip you with advanced knowledge and skills in health research design and practice. These research courses are unique hybrid coursework research qualifications that develop high level research skills via coursework and a research project. They are also an alternative pathway to Higher Degrees by Research. Unique features of the courses include learning from acclaimed Menzies School of Health Research professionals and supervisors in the specialist areas of Indigenous health, public health and global health. You will acquire theoretical and practical capabilities in: epidemiology, biostatistics, quantitative and qualitative research methods. Students undertaking the MHR will have the opportunity to plan and implement a substantial research project. Following the completion of the Master of Health Research students may proceed, with approval, to Higher Degree Research (PhD) training. GRADUATE OUTCOMES Graduates will be equipped to apply evidence-based health research skills within professional practice and the broader health sector. RESEARCH PROJECTMHR students will complete their degree with a research project at Menzies School of Health Research.

Students are supported to produce a research thesis, which may include an article suitable for submission to a peer reviewed journal. Menzies research strengths span Indigenous child health and child development, preventable chronic diseases (renal, diabetes, cancer), food security and nutrition, healing and resilience, health services and quality improvement, global and tropical health and emerging infectious diseases. This program offers an academic path wayto a research career.
