THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - JANUARY 27, 2019

STEWARDSHIP MOMENT

In St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians, it states “If they were all one part, where would the body be? But as it is there are many parts, yet one body” (1 COR 12:18-20). What does this teach us as Christian stew-ards? It shows us that we all have equal dignity and worth in God’s sight, and that if God sees us as equally precious, we should view each

other in this same light. It teaches us to humbly recognize our own gifts as well as the giftedness of every member of our par-ish family. And, while God designed us to be ultimately depend-ent on Him, it seems He has also designed us to need each oth-er! This is part of the beauty and richness of a stewardship way of life. No one person can “do it all” in life — whether in family life or parish life. But God does not ask us to do it all. He simply asks us to share the gifts and talents we do have in the season of life we find ourselves right now.

A Funeral Mass will be held later this year, and to Gordy & Douglas Seaman and family upon the death of her sister Carrie Carmichael . A Funeral Mass is scheduled for Feb-ruary 9, at 11am. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

On Sunday, January 27, from 2-4pm, and Wednesday, February 6, from 8:30-10:30am, we will be holding school OPEN HOUSES. TWIN PARISH NEWS - Helping Hugs’ Medical Mission Team will be traveling to Haiti in February. They are in need of large, lightweight luggage with wheels by February 8 to carry medications. By “large”, we mean pieces that are no more than 62 inches (measured length, width and height). If you have any old and battered luggage that you would like to donate, please contact Diane Smith at (912)222-1771 or dianemsmith@bellsouth.net Father Faustin needs more instruments for his expand-ing music program: brass, woodwind, percussion, key-board, and guitar. Here are some ways you can help:

DONATE an instrument you are no longer using;

PURCHASE a reconditioned instrument and donate it to Helping Hugs;

MAKE a monetary donation for the pur-chase of a reconditioned instrument;

RECOMMEND to Helping Hugs the names of organiza-tions that donate instruments.

Society of St. Vincent dePaul needs Volunteers - Will you help? The Society is seeking individuals who have a heart to serve. We have ongoing needs in all of the following areas: thrift store operations, (Tiffany, 262-6027); food pantry (Mark, 602-2524); financial assistance/counseling

(Nancy, 513 722-6789 or Stephanie, 678 677-4803). If none of these fits your skills or preferences, other needs are always developing (Jim 638-7220). Volunteer hours (M – F) are flexible and can fit your schedule. Snow birds are welcomed. Volunteering at St. Vincent is a minis-try, not a job. What is God saying to you?

We have a great opportunity to hear a nationally known speaker and to have an early Valentine’s Day dinner and celebration. Fr. Leo Patalinghug will be visiting St. Francis Xavier on Wednesday, February 6, for a very special event entitled, “Spicing Up the Married Life.” Fr. Leo has appeared on EWTN and “Throwdown with Bobby Flay.” His ministry is called Plated Grace. You can learn more about his mission at www.FatherLeoFeeds.com. Tickets can be purchased at shop.fatherleofeeds.com website at $25.00 per single ticket and $45.00 per couple. A special Mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier at 6:00pm that day (open to all - no ticket necessary) in the main church, and the ticketed Dinner & Presentation at 6:30pm will be in Xavier Hall. If you are sin-gle, widowed or divorced, know that Fr. Leo will share aspects of the spiritual life for all and how cooking and meals bring us together as families.

Invisible Chains Human Trafficking: Awareness and Empowerment

Christine Watson is a local advocate who has dedicated her life to fighting human trafficking. She is the Board Chair for Middle Georgia Alli-ance to End Regional Trafficking.

The CCW will hold a bake sale on February 9/10 after all the Masses. This is our final fundraiser for student scholarships this year. We are asking eve-ryone to drop off baked goods on Saturday, Febru-

ary 9, from 1:00 - 3:00 at the church. Please have your cakes, pies and breads wrapped and ready for sale. Cookies and brownies should be bagged in groups of 6 or 12. We are not doing cupcakes.

TWIN SHEETS FOR HAITI: The CCW is collecting clean, gently used or new twin bed flat sheets for the spring shipment to Haiti. If you have full or queen size flat or fitted sheets, the Sew & So's will turn them into twin-sized sheets. They cannot use twin fitted sheets. We will be collecting through the month of March; please place them in the CCW bin in the back of the church.
