Welcome to Marquette! This booklet is your official guide to New Student Orientation, including a detailed schedule, information on meals, activities, U-Pass Adventures, Milwaukee Excursions, and campus information sessions. In addition to this booklet, we have included other information about Marquette in your folder.

• MEAL SERVICE •MEALS FOR ON-CAMPUS STUDENTSDuring New Student Orientation, meals are served in the residence halls, beginning with dinner on Wednesday. You may gain access to the cafeterias using your meal plan, accessible with your Marquette Student ID.

MEALS FOR COMMUTER STUDENTSAt check-in, all commuter students receive meal tickets to use during Orientation week, beginning with dinner on Wednesday. You may use these tickets during New Student Orientation for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in designated residence hall cafeterias.

LATE NIGHT HOURSIn addition to the dining hours printed in your Orientation schedule, McCormick Hall cafeteria is open until midnight every night.

• MILWAUKEE EXCURSIONS AND U-PASS ADVENTURES •Part of your Orientation experience is getting to know Milwaukee! See page 11 of this booklet for more information.

• ADDITIONAL INFORMATION •HOSPITALITY ROOMDrop by the AMU’s 2nd Floor Lobby and room 252 between events and to talk with other students and Orientation staff members. The hospitality area is open Wednesday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

MARQUETTE INFORMATION DESKLocated on the second floor of the AMU, the information desk staff are available to answer questions and direct you to various offices, campus locations, and Milwaukee destinations.

COMMUTER PARKINGCommuter student permits are on sale from the Parking Services Office located in the Wells Street Parking Structure. Day and overnight passes are available. To purchase a permit online, visit www.marquette.edu/parking

Explore Milwaukee destinations conveniently and inexpensively on the Milwaukee County Transit System. All you need is your UPASS and Marquette I.D. to board the bus. Below is the list of adventures that Orientation staff members will lead on Saturday, August 28, 2010. Please meet by the Information Desk on the second floor of the Alumni Memorial Union at 11:00 a.m. Staff members will have the bus routes, times, and directions for the trip.

MILWAUKEE FOOD TOUR $30 Discover the sights and flavors of Milwaukee’s most delicious neighborhoods along Brady Street, Old World 3rd Street and in the Historic Third Ward. Come with an empty stomach and get ready to sample Milwaukee specialties like wood fired pizza, brautwurst, and custard. Bus leaves at 7:00 p.m.

LATIN DANCE LESSONS $10 Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to show off your Salsa, Argentine, Rueda, and Bachata moves with group dance lessons. You will also be able to watch Latin dance performances from professionals at a local dance studio in Milwaukee. Bus leaves at 7:00 p.m.

KOPP’S FROZEN CUSTARD FREE (Ticket Required)

Do you have a sweet tooth? Come taste a favorite Milwaukee dessert, Kopp’s Frozen Custard. Custard and food costs $2 and up. Bus leaves at 6:15 p.m.

FISH FRY AND A FLICK FREE Explore the lakefront while enjoying a Milwaukee Fish Fry followed by an outdoor screening of “The Big Lebowski” at dusk. The movie is free but bring money if you plan on buying some of the delicious fried food. Walking group leaves at 5:30 p.m.

IMAX: THE DARK KNIGHT $8 Come watch Batman battle the Joker in an IMAX showing of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight”. The movie is playing at the nearby Milwaukee Public Museum. Walking group leaves at 8:00 p.m.
