Maria Ioudenitch, Second Prize Violin 2012 Johansen International Competition for Young String Players At the age of 16, Maria Ioudenitch won Second Prize Violin and $7,000 at the 2012 Johansen International Competition (JIC) for Young String Players in Washington, DC. As part of her awards, she will perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Prince George’s Philharmonic in October 2012. Maria Ioudenitch was born in Balashov, Russia. She began studying the violin at the age of 3 with Gregory Sandomirsky. Since then, she has played on numerous occasions, including the Sun Valley Writers’ Conference, a benefit concert for the Kansas City Free Health Clinic, the Kansas City Music Club, the World Performance Series in Jackson, Mississippi, and the Hamakua Music Festival in Hawaii. She was also invited to the Spivakov International Charity Foundation in Moscow. She has performed multiple times with The Philharmonia of Greater Kansas City. Ms. Ioudenitch participated in various master classes with such eminent musicians as Midori, Gil Shaham, Eric Rosenblith, and Zakhar Bron. In 2008, she was invited to perform for Van Cliburn at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of his legendary victory at the First Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow in 1958. Ms. Ioudenitch recently won first prize at the Young Artists Competition hosted by the Kansas City Symphony, and performed with the symphony in Helzberg Hall at the Kauffman Center on May 23 and 25, 2012. Other recent artistic activities include a 2011 engagement with the Tupelo Symphony, and a trip to Salzburg, Austria, where she participated in master classes and performed during the International Summer Academy at Universität Mozarteum. In addition, Ms. Ioudenitch actively contributes in fundraiser activities for the International Center for Music at Park University. Ms. Ioudenitch will participate in the 2012 Killington Music Festival in Killington, Vermont, for six weeks this summer. The daughter of Stanislav and Tatiana Ioudenitch, Ms. Ioudenitch currently studies with Ben Sayevich in the International Center for Music at Park University in Parkville, MO.
