Missions Mailbox - OPEN for SERVICE

Are you planning on sending Christmas cards to your fellow church members? Then bring your CARDS to the church and drop them off

in the Narthex. Just simply make a donation of 25 cents per card to our CHRISTMAS MISSIONS OFFERING!!

You are welcome to bring your cards beginning THIS Sunday through Dec. 23rd. We’ll sort them and have your CARDS ready at the conclusion of WORSHIP!

ALL the MONIES for this year’s MISSION MAILBOX will be given to AUSTIN MACEMORE to assist with his ongoing medical costs!!

CELEBRATION OF LIFE… Mountain Valley Hospice is sponsoring a Celebration of Life Service on Thursday - December 6th at 6 pm at Maplewood Baptist Church. The Christmas season can be difficult for families struggling with the loss of a loved one, so those who help minister to families in these times would like to invite anyone to come and share in this opportunity to honor their lives and collectively find the strength needed to make it through this season of the year. There will be some light refreshments served afterwards. If you have any questions, please contact Jason at 679-2466

We’ll enjoy a delicious covered dish supper together. On Sunday as you register your attendance - you’ll be able to indicate

what you’d like to bring and the number to expect from your family.

We’ll learn together what we’re willing to do in obedience to be His Heart, Hands and Voice, no matter the cost!

Joy to the World – One Shoe Box at a Time

We are so grateful to the many people who packed a

shoe box with lots of goodies, love and prayer.

We collected 95 bundles of JOY!!

Praise the LORD for all HE has DONE!!

Our Heartfelt Thanks... Our hearts are filled with GRATITUDE for the spirit of thanksgiving displayed by all

who participated in our recent Community Thanksgiving Service. We collected 283 canned

food items and received $ 785 that was given to Yadkin Christian Ministries to help them

“stock their shelves” and provide food for families within our community. THANK YOU!

SHARING SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER WITH OUR STAFF... We’re now receiving our annual Christmas LOVE OFFERING for our church staff. You may use ANY envelope and simply mark it STAFF Love Gift. If you write a check, please make it payable to Maplewood and write on the memo line “Staff Love Gift”. Place your envelope in the offering plate or simply give to one

DECEMBER CHURCH CONFERENCE… Our Church conference for December will be on Wednesday evening - December

26th at 7 pm. The MAIN ITEM on the agenda will be to adopt the proposed 2013 Ministry Budget. As soon as the Finance Committee completes their work on the

proposed budget, we’ll place copies in the Narthex for you to pick up and review.

GOODIES for BAKING and GIFTS for GIVING... We have Pecans (1 lb bags) - Chopped - $ 9, Dark Vanilla, Clear Vanilla, Almond and Lemon Flavoring - $ 2.50 available for purchase in the Narthex or see Elaine McCollum.

supported the work of our Lord through the mission & ministry of OUR church...as demonstrated in the manner in which you’ve responded to the opportunities of providing an ongoing ministry to our children & middleschoolers

Please remember any tithes & offerings you desire to be included on your 2012 statement MUST be received to the church office by DECEMBER 31st!!

Children’s Program Practice Our children will practice for their upcoming Christmas program C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S - What Does It Really Mean? over the next several weeks. Immediately following the “lighting of the Advent Candle” - our children will leave the service and spend the remaining portion of time practicing their program. They will present their program on Sunday - Dec 23rd at 5:30 pm. If you have any questions, please see Jeanie Houston.

YOUTH MISSIONS PROJECT… We’ll take the scarves, hats and gloves we’ve been collecting to the Winston Salem Rescue Mission THIS Sunday - December 2nd. We’ll meet at the church at 3:30 pm. If you need a ride, please see Katrina.

ENJOY THE LIGHTS AT TANGLEWOOD…

The youth will meet at the church on Monday - December 17th at 5:45 pm to

head over to Tanglewood, so they can enjoy a “hayride” through the Festival of

Lights. It has been recently revamped with many new displays and is the

largest light show in the Southeast - with nearly a million LED lights.

Our reservation will start at 7 pm and we’ll stop for dinner afterwards. If

you have any questions, please see Katrina.

CHRISTMAS PARTIES… SUNDAY - December 9th - The YOUTH will be going to The Depot in Dobson for lunch after church. Katrina needs to make reservations, so please let her know if you’re going by Wednesday - December 5th. Your families are welcome to join us.

SUNDAY - December 23rd at 6:30 pm - The CHILDREN will enjoy a special time together...immediately following their Christmas Play. Look for more details in the coming weeks.

COME & SHARE... The celebration of Advent makes the Christmas season a

memorable experience for your family. Advent refers to the “coming”

or “arrival” of Jesus Christ. Every expression of advent stirs joyful

anticipation of what God has done, what He is doing and what He

will do. We hope you will join us during this advent season over the

next FOUR Sunday morning’s at 11:00 am.

WILL WORK ON MBC COOKBOOK THIS SPRING… We didn’t quite reach our goal of 400 recipes for us to produce a new church cookbook - our Sister’s in Christ will work on

this project again THIS spring!! Thank you for all who submitted recipes that will be used in our new cookbook.

It is our hope that each of us will see these

special Christmas services as an opportunity of

OUTREACH by inviting our neighbors, co-workers

and fellow family members to come with us and

experience for themselves the REAL message of

CHRISTMAS!!

Christmas holds the mystery Of how God touched the earth By giving us the Christ child In a newborn baby’s birth.

Great awe was in young Mary’s heart, And in the shepherds’ pace

As they ran quickly to the town And found that special place.

These humble shepherds knelt before This tiny newborn king;

And as they did so, they could hear The lovely angels sing:
