Step 2Rotate the cartridge right with the larger developer roller drive gear facingyou. Remove the Phillip screw located inthe right bottom. Gently pry up andremove the cover. (Photo 2)

Step 3Turn the cartridge so the fill cap end is facing you. Pry off the black developergear end cap. Remove all three whitegears and the developer gear spacer, taking note of orientation. (Photo 3)

Step 7Pry off the black developer roller gear endcap. Remove the small flat washer, whitedeveloper roller drive gear and developergear spacer. (Photo 7)

Step 8Rotate the cartridge so that the developerroller is facing you. Carefully pull the leftside of the developer roller shaft outwardenough to clear the housing. Once clear,pull the developer roller towards the leftand remove (be careful not to scratch thedeveloper roller surface). Note that thereare thin Mylar type washers on both sidesof the developer roller shaft -- don’t losethem! (Photo 8)

Step 6 OptionalRemove the two Phillip screws that holdthe gear train plate in place. The gears arenow easily removed. Only the gear on thedeveloper roller needs to be removed inorder to remove the developer roller drivegear. (Photo 6) NOTE: Mark gear order foreasy reassemble.

Step 4Remove the “e” clip from the developerroller shaft and the bushing insert.(Photo 4)

Step 5 OptionalRotate the cartridge to the opposite sidewith the developer bias circuit board fac-ing you. Remove the three Phillip screwson the circuit board and remove both thecontact and board. (Photo 5)

The Samsung CLP-500, CLP-500N, CLP-550 and CLP-550N are color laser printers designed for businesses inthe small to medium size range. The printers offer up to5ppm color and 21ppm black and white with print resolutionup to 1200 dpi. The printers include automatic built induplexing, Hi-Speed USB connectivity and have optionssuch as 500 sheet paper handling and network connectivity.

Supplies for the printers come with starter toners, black at2,000 pages and 1,500 for the color. Included are the wastetoner container (3,000 pages), Imaging unit (50K/12K pagesBlack/Color) and the transfer belt (50K/12K pagesBlack/Color). Attention: The following procedure requiresexperience in soldering electronic components.

Step 2Hold the Cartridge Contacts Assembly in a vise orsimilar clamping device.

Tool Requirements:Small Blade Screw DriverNeedle Nose PliersSmall ViseSoldering Iron – 600°F to 800°F temperature range,Conical tip recommended.Silver Solder

Step 1Using a small blade screw driver, carefully removethe Cartridge Contacts Assembly from the side ofthe cartridge.

Step 3Remove the component soldered to the two outside contact tabs(pins 1 and 3).

Holding the wire with needlenose pliers on one side of the contacttab, apply the heated solder iron onto the other side of the tab. Asthe solder melts, gently pull the wire with the needle nose pliers.

Warning: DO NOT OVER HEAT the tab because the plastic housing is very easily melted.

Repeat above instructions on the other outside contact tab.
