Have a drink on me(Lonnie Donegan)

1 [C] In eighteen-eighty down a dusty road,

[Am] along came a miner with a big fat load.

[G] Hey, hey, everybody drink on me. [C] [G]

[C] He was caked in dirt from his head to his foot,

[Am] his hair so black, that it looked like soot.

[G] Hey, hey, everybody drink on me. [C] [G]

2 Well, he reined in his mule and hitched him to the rail,

and he said, “Old fella it's the end of the trail”.

Hey, hey, everybody drink on me.

Well, he ambled on down to the old saloon,

he said, I know it's early and it ain't quite noon.

But, hey, hey, everybody drink on me.

CHORUS: [C] Have a drink, have a drink, have a drink on me.

[Am] Everybody have a drink on me.

[G] Hey, hey, everybody drink on me. [C] [G] (x2)

3 Well, I just got a letter from down in Tennessee.

it said my Uncle died and left an oil-well to me.

Hey, hey, everybody drink on me.

I've been diggin' all my life and I nearly got to hell.

but my Uncle dug potatoes and he struck an oil-well.

Hey, hey, everybody drink on me.

CHORUS

4 Well, black gold, yellow gold, guess it’s all the same,

take my tip and give up the mining game.

Hey, hey, everybody drink on me!

Well, sell your shovel and your old Long Johns,

you can make a fortune writin' Adam Faith’s songs.

Hey, hey, everybody drink on me.

[Tacit] One more time!

CHORUS

Does Your Chewing Gum Lose Its Flavour?(Lonnie Donegan)

1 [C] Oh-me, oh- [G7] my, oh- [C] you, Whatever [G7] shall I [C] do [C7] [F] Halle- [C] -lujah, the question [G7] is pe- [C] –culiar.[C] I'd give a [G7] lot of [C] dough, If only [G7] I could [C] know

[D7] The answer to my question Is it yes or is it no [G7]

[B♭dim] [G7]

Chorus: Does your [C] chewing gum lose its flavour

On the [G7] bedpost overnight?

If your mother says don't chew it

Do you [C] swallow it in [C7] spite

Can you [F] catch it on your [G7] tonsils

Can you [C] heave it left and right

Does your chewing gum lose its flavour

On the [F] bedpost [G7] over [C] night?

2 Here comes a blushing bride The groom is by her side Up to the altar Just as steady as Gibraltar Why, the groom has got the ring And it's such a pretty thing But as he slips it on her finger The choir begins to sing …

Chorus

3 Now the nation rise as one To send their only son Up to the White House Yes, the nation's only White House To voice their discontent Unto the Pres-I-dent They pose the burning question What has swept this continent

Chorus

(Tacit) If tin whistles are made of tin, what do they make fog horns out of?

Chorus

4 [C] Hello [G7] there, I [C] love you. I’m the one who [G7] holds you [C] tight.[D7] Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday Thursday, [D7] Friday, Sat'day

[G7] night. [B♭dim] [G7]

[E7] On the [D] bedpost [G] over-[C]-night.

A dollar is a dollar and a dime it is a dime. He's singin' out the chorus But he hasn't got the time.

[E7] On the [D] bedpost [G] over-[C]-night. [G] [C]

Frankie and Johnny(Lonnie Donegan)

1 [C] Frankie and Johnny were lovers,

Oh how those two could [C7] love

They [F] swore to be true to each other,

Just as true as the stars a -[C]- bove.

[C] He was her [G] man [G7], But he was doing her [C] wrong.

2 Frankie went down to the corner, Just for a bucket of beer.

She said to the fat bartender, “Has my lovin’ man been here?”

He was her man, But he was doing her wrong.

3 “I don’t want to tell you no stories, I don’t want to tell you no lies.

But I saw your man ‘bout an hour ago with a gal named Nelly Bly.

If he’s your man, He’s been doing you wrong.”

4 Frankie went down to the hotel, She didn’t go there for fun.

Underneath her kimono she carried a forty-four gun.

He was her man, But he was doing her wrong.

5 Frankie looked over the transom, and found to her great surprise

There on the bed was Johnny, with that gal named Nelly Bly.

He was her man, But he was doing her wrong.

6 Now the first time that Frankie shot Johnnie he let out an awful yell.

Second time she shot him, there was a new man's face in hell.

He was her man, But he was doing her wrong.

7 The judge said to the jury, "It's as plain as plain can be.

This woman shot her lover, it's murder in the second degree.

He was her man, tho' he was doing her wrong."

8 This story, it has no moral, this story it has no end.

This story only goes to show that there ain't no good in men.

They'll do you wrong, just as sure as you're born.
