oya Ball is Senior Att orney of Data Privacy for IBM Corporati on, where she advises global business groups on transacti onal matt ers,

Arti fi cial Intelligence, cloud technology, cyber security investi gati ons, and compliance with applicable global privacy laws. She is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at Seton Hall University School of Law.

Ball previously held roles as compliance manager and in-house legal counsel for Henry Schein, Inc., where her responsibiliti es included managing legal compli-ance and due diligence for acquisiti ons, leading cross functi onal implementati on of the organizati on’s data protecti on law compliance program, and managing general compliance with global laws and regulatory requirements.

Ball earned her Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law, M.A. in Public Policy from Stony Brook University, and B.S. in Sociology from the

SUNY, College at Old Westbury. She has studied law and global aff airs topics internati onally at: GIMPA Faculty of Law, Ghana, West Africa; Cambridge University, Trinity College, United Kingdom; the United Nati ons, Geneva, Switzerland; and the University of Santi ago de Com-postela, Galicia, Spain. She is a Certi fi ed Informati on Privacy Professional with the Internati onal Associati on of Privacy Professionals, and is an American Bar Asso-ciati on fi rst place legal scholarly writi ng competi ti on winner and published author.

Ball migrated to the United States from Jamaica, West Indies during high school. She volunteers with Pro Bono Partnership and CUNY Citi zenship Now!, advising legal permanent residents in navigati ng the United States citi zenship and naturalizati on process; and serves as a mentor to undergraduates as part of St. John’s Law School’s Ronald H. Brown Law School Prep Program to increase diversity in the legal profession.

ichael Caplice has over 17 years of experience in

all levels of government service.

Throughout his tenure as the Long Island

Director for the Offi ce of the State Comptroller, he has helped

thousands of people with numerous types of issues including

making sure they have access to their reti rement pensions,

recovering unclaimed funds, and helping to protect taxpayer

dollars from fraud and abuse.

Prior to working at the comptroller’s offi ce, he worked for

the County of Suff olk, the NYS Assembly, and the U.S. House

of Representati ves. His work has been highlighted by a variety

of media outlets including Rolling Stone and the nati onally

syndicated radio show “52 Players with Frank MacKay.”

In his free ti me, he is an acti ve member of the community.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Urban League

of Long Island, Order of Sons and Daughters of Italy, Irish

Americans in Government, and a Life Member of the NAACP.

He is also an avid supporter of many other organizati ons

such as the St. Baldrick’s Foundati on, the Memorial Sloan

Kett ering Cycle for Survival, the Humane Urban Group, and

AIDS Walk NY.

Caplice was born and raised in Westbury, N.Y. He holds a

B.A. in Philosophy from the Honors College of Adelphi Univer-

sity, where he received the Thomas S. Knight Memorial Prize

in Philosophy and the Charles H. Levermore Prize for Best

Senior Thesis.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of taking a challenging and nontradi-

ti onal route to my career as an att orney. During my tenure to achieve a Juris Doctorate I simultaneously managed a demanding career in the regulatory compliance fi eld. My journey to become an att orney while balancing a career as a regulatory compliance professional was an arduous pursuit, but has been my most rewarding in terms of insti lling tenac-ity and resilience.

If you could go back in ti me, what would you tell your 20-year-old self?

I would tell my 20-year-old self that it is never too late to redefi ne oneself and one’s professional journey. That rather than measuring oneself against others, be inspired by others and use that inspirati on to inform how you can work toward piloti ng your own unique and rewarding journey. Honor where you are in your pursuits because nothing happens before its due ti me and you are always exactly where you are meant to be.

What att racted you to industry? When I was in college, I had an opportunity to sit down

at a student roundtable with the fi rst lady at the ti me. My mother had cancer and had lost her long-term care insur-ance, and the fi rst lady off ered to help. Aft er that encounter, I received a follow-up call from the White House and it com-pletely blew my mind. I was awakened to how much politi cs and government could really impact people and make their lives bett er, and I wanted to help others the same way someone had tried to help me.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?Getti ng to assist people on a daily basis is both the best

and most important part of the job for me. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to help several thousand people with all kinds of issues over the years. Many ti mes you are dealing with people who feel like they have nowhere else to turn, and nothing beats seeing their smile and hearing the happiness in their voice once you’ve found a way to take care of their problem. I can’t think of anything more rewarding or fulfi lling.

obert Ciatt o is the Chief Operati ng Offi cer of

Adults and Children with Learning and Develop-

mental Disabiliti es (ACLD), a non-profi t agency

supporti ng children and adults with auti sm, learning

and developmental disabiliti es and their families across

Nassau and Suff olk Counti es. In his role, Ciatt o has

more than 25 years of experience in the non-profi t

sector.

Since joining ACLD in 2014 as the Assistant Executi ve

Director, ACLD’s residenti al program has seen excep-

ti onal growth, expanding from 29 homes to 50 homes.

Ciatt o oversees all of the agency’s program areas,

including residenti al and day services, community ha-

bilitati on, and children’s services, as well as the support

departments of maintenance, informati on technology,

purchasing, fi nance, and human resources.

He has played a criti cal part in the launch of ACLD’s

RewearAble program, which provides sustainable

employment for people with special needs, and in the

creati on of ACLD’s Program Without Walls day habilita-

ti on eff ort.

Prior to joining ACLD, Ciatt o began his career and

spent more than two decades with AHRC-Nassau as a

Direct Support Professional and ulti mately rising to the

post of Senior Director of Business Operati ons.

He holds a B.S. in Psychology from SUNY-Old West-

bury and earned his M.S. in Mental Health Counseling

from C.W. Post-Long Island University.

15-year-old son in Ronkonkoma.

What att racted you to your indsutry? Helping people always has been a driving force in who I

am. Aft er graduati ng with my undergraduate degree in Psy-chology, I knew I wanted to be able to make a diff erence in people’s lives. Finding the right job is always the key to your success and more importantly happiness, and working with people with disabiliti es met all of the criteria for me. Being able to lead such a diverse workforce, grow personally and professionally and work with people of all abiliti es conti nues to drive me aft er 25 plus years. I knew I made the correct choice in career path aft er my fi rst interacti on with a person with special needs.


Do not change a thing. You are meant to assist people in whatever is needed and whatever role is needed. Remember to always support everyone and lead by example.Who inspires you?

The people ACLD supports, the staff that work day to day with all of the people getti ng services and the families that are involved. Seeing people for what they can do and “not what they cannot” is something all of these groups possess. It is truly inspiring to know you have a part in making some-one’s life bett er.


icki Cooper is the Shelter Director of The Re-

treat Inc., an agency that provides shelter and

support for victi ms of domesti c abuse. Much of

the work Cooper focuses on is centered on the family

relati onship, the non-abusive parent’s bond with the

children, the emoti onal well-being of the survivor as

well as their children, and the survivors’ next steps.

This drive and determinati on has brought her vision

for the families of the shelter into focus, changing the

scope of the work that is done daily at the shelter. The

Retreat’s programs refl ect Cooper’s unwavering ded-

icati on to the ideal that every person has the right to

justi ce, safety, respect and opportunity.

Cooper was born and raised on the East End of Long

Island. She has a Masters Degree in Social Work with a

specializati on in Trauma and has worked with homeless

teen mothers, victi ms of crimes, victi ms of sexual as-

sault, victi ms of human traffi cking, as well as her main

focus, which has always been domesti c violence.

When she is not working or volunteering she enjoys

gardening, going to the beach, kayaking with her family

and relaxing with her dogs. Cooper is very proud of the

work she is devoted to and the support she receives

from family and colleagues.

alvatore Ferro, President and Chief Executi ve Offi cer of Alure Home Improvements, started his career with the company in 1989 as a pro-ducti on manager. Aft er serving in producti on,

sales, and management roles, he took on his current role in 2002.

With Ferro’s leadership and remarkable people skills, Alure grew from a small painti ng contractor to one of the most successful remodeling companies in the country.

He saw a demand for commercial constructi on on Long Island and in 2014 he formed Fusion Commercial Contracti ng, specializing in offi ce build outs, clubhous-es, building exteriors, insurance restorati on, new builds, and offi ce space renovati ons. Ferro branched out and created Old Fields Capital Partners LLC, a real estate investment and development fi rm where he is vice

president and partner. Ferro is an acti ve member in the community, who

has helped raise thousands of dollars for non-profi t organizati ons and serves on several boards including the Nassau County Department of Consumer Aff airs Home Industry Advisory Board, The Clark Gillies Foun-dati on, Family Service League, and Farmingdale College Foundati on.

Ferro is also a member and Chairman of the Board of The Long Island Builders Insti tute and is also a founding acti ve board member of Empire Nati onal Bank.

In 2017, he started The Ferro Foundati on. This non-profi t was developed to help Long Islanders, focus-ing on students, seniors, and veterans, while providing an annual scholarship and a senior homecare program.

What was your fi rst job?

My fi rst job was being a nanny for a family with an auti sti c

3-year-old daughter. I learned so much about pati ence,

empathy, and challenges people face by working with this

family. It was a great experience.

What att racted you to your industry?

I want to help victi ms of domesti c violence change their

lives for themselves and their children. Children do not need

to be raised around violence. I would like to have a positi ve

eff ect on the cycle of violence. Watching the children laugh,

play, and be comfortable as they discover an environment

where they no longer need to be afraid for their safety is the

best part of my job.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by every woman that calls our hotline, who

walks in our doors and changes their future and the future of

their children.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?I am proud of so many things that we’ve accomplished

over the years. Working alongside some amazing people, we created one of the most well known brands in the remod-eling industry and succeeded in managing through years of business ups and downs, and have tremendous success and longevity rarely seen in our industry. We were then able to provide so many Long Islanders careers and jobs, and eventu-ally reaching the point where I was able to fulfi ll a long-ti me dream of creati ng a charity in my dad’s name (The Ferro Foundati on) and honor, to give back to the community that’s

been so instrumental in my life.What att racted you to your industry?

Convenience and necessity. Having lost my dad, I went to work before fi nishing college to help support my fami-ly. I went to work in constructi on for my brother-in- law’s company. I developed an immediate passion for constructi on and helping people build their dreams and that’s how it all started…Who inspires you?

My kids. From the day they were born they became a huge inspirati on for me to be a bett er me.

eidi Distante has been with Vanderbilt Financial Group since 2001 and has held the role of Chief of Staff for the

past 7 years, supporti ng the fi rm’s daily operati ons.

During her ti me there, she has worked within every department of the back offi ce, oft enti mes building that depart-ment from scratch in the early days of the fi rm. She was a part of the original management team that grew the fi rm from a smaller Offi ce of Supervisory Jurisdicti on (OSJ) to a Sustainable Wealth Management Firm with over 170 Finan-cial Advisors spread across the country in 25 states.

In additi on to growing Vanderbilt, she has also spearheaded major strategy and technical shift s within the fi rm’s cyber security eff orts by managing experts across technology, compliance and op-

erati ons, while working directly with the regulatory enti ti es.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt, Distante spent 15 years at Citi corp Retail Ser-vices as a Relati onship Manager in their Private Label Credit Card Division. Her experience functi oning as an interface between the Operati ons Department and luxury retailers exposed her to excepti onal customer service tacti cs in the Financial Services industry, which has carried over into establishing the high-level of customer service Vanderbilt Financial Group has become known for.

While not at work, Distante serves the community through several nonprofi ts including the John Brower Jr. Founda-ti on, The Interfaith Nutriti on Network (The INN), and as co-leader of a special needs troop with the Girl Scouts of Suf-folk County.

Be open to sharing experiences - this opens up new dialogues no matt er the topic, issue or situati on.What changes do you foresee for your com-pany in the next 5 years? How do you see yourself and/or your company navigati ng that change?

No matt er how much we yearn for normal-cy, some business aspects will change forever.

As leaders, we need to be creati ve, adapt-able, and pivot when necessary to meet the business’ needs (and the new norm). We’ve realized that our employees don’t have to be physically present in the offi ce to be pro-ducti ve. We quickly pivoted our workfl ows to further embrace technology and alternati ve soluti ons like Arti fi cial Intelligence (AI) and automati on to achieve daily operati ons – moving from surviving the pandemic to thriv-ing and achieving huge growth for the fi rm. We’re going to be pushing in the directi on of fl exible working environments, and increased technology coupled with conti nuing to create that work culture of being valued as a person.

ndrew H. Kubrick, CPA, JD, is the partner-

in-charge of the Long Island offi ce of Marks

Paneth LLP. In his role, Kubrick oversees client

service, business development, and talent management

for the Long Island region.

In additi on, he provides services to a broad range of

clients, including real estate enti ti es (as well as low-in-

come housing), law fi rms, restaurants, liquor distrib-

utors, furniture companies, and private foundati ons.

He advises his clients on all facets of accounti ng and

tax issues. With a background in law and accounti ng,

Kubrick counts serving lawyers and law fi rms as an area

of specialty.

Along with becoming a CPA, Kubrick says one of his

biggest accomplishments was passing the Bar exams in

New York and New Jersey.

Prior to joining Marks Paneth, Kubrick worked in

private accounti ng for several years, before transiti on-

ing to public accounti ng at a small CPA fi rm. He quickly

advanced to partner, a status he retained when the fi rm

combined with Marks Paneth, in 2000.

He currently serves on the fi rm’s executi ve commit-

tee, which sets policy and strategy for the fi rm.

Kubrick received his Juris Doctor from New York Law

School in New York City, and graduated from Ithaca

College with a B.S. in accounti ng.

ossam Maksoud is the chief executi ve offi cer and founder of Community Care Rx, a unique long-term pharmacy that provides compre-hensive pharmacy services to assisted living

faciliti es, skilled nursing faciliti es, OPWDD residenti al faciliti es, and other long-term-care providers.

Maksoud holds a B.S. in pharmacy from St. John’s University. In 1993, he established Maksoud Pharm Inc., a chain of independent retail pharmacies in the New York

Metropolitan area. He later went on to launch Com-munity Care Rx.

The company provides pharmaceuti cal services throughout the tri-state area and beyond. With Mak-soud at the helm, the organizati on has the experience and dedicati on needed to create personalized experi-ences for diff erent faciliti es, which receive custom-tai-lored programs based on their needs.

Community Care Rx is able to take on large pieces of business in a seamless manner, with no disrupti on to

clients and the pati ents they serve.Five years ago, Maksoud established a new division,

Community Care Consulti ng, in which experienced consultant pharmacists provide clinical experti se and services to long-term-care faciliti es and residenti al insti tuti ons. Two years later, he added the Community Care Specialty Pharmacy, which works with the enti re healthcare ecosystem to connect pati ents who have chronic and rare conditi ons to medicati on, informati on and funding. Maksoud and his team have special ex-perti se in providing services to pati ents who have HIV/AIDS, hepati ti s, rheumati c disease, osteoporosis and other conditi ons.

In 2017, Maksoud and three partners with diverse skill sets co-founded Dawah Pharmaceuti cals Inc. The goal of the company, of which Maksoud serves as CEO, is to design and build an FDA-compliant pharmaceu-ti cal manufacturing facility to address the need for high-quality products in the global sterile injectables and ophthalmology marketplace.

My father was an accountant and I had an apti tude to excel

in math. This helped me with the fi nancial side of accounti ng.

Who inspires you?

My father always inspired me to excel in life. He never told

be to sett le. Reach for the stars.

What changes do you foresee for your company in the next

5 years? How do you see yourself and/or your company

navigati ng that change?

Computer technology is the future. A.I. (arti fi cial intelli-

gence) is here and will only be more important to incorporate

in our fi rm.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

I am proud that I was able to build a company from scratch

at the age of 23, and that it employs more than 150 people

and has multi ple locati ons servicing many people with devel-

opmental disabiliti es and senior populati ons.

If you could go back in ti me, what would you tell your

20-year-old self?

I would tell myself to enjoy things outside of the pharmacy

world a litt le more, and maybe take it easy someti mes. I enjoy

what I’m doing, but life is not just about work.

Who inspires you?

Innovators in science and technology inspire me. People

who spend their whole lives focused on trying to fi nd cures,

and people who have created all the technologies we are

using right now and that have changed off of our lives.

arey Marshall is a partner in the audit practi ce at Ernst & Young LLP (EY). Marshall joined the fi rm in 2001 and made partner in 2014. In her role, she provides audit and assurance services

to clients, and has experience in sectors from consumer to media and entertainment.

Throughout her ti me at EY, she has dedicated her career to serving clients on Long Island and beyond. From her professional accomplishments to her personal commitment to giving back, Marshall inspires her peers to consider how they, too, can help make a diff erence in the communiti es where they live and work.

Outside of work, she currently serves on the Board of Directors and as the Audit Committ ee Chair of Children of Bellevue Hospital, a nonprofi t that provides resourc-es and educati on to thousands of the hospital’s pediat-ric pati ents, many of whom live in poverty.

In 2019, Marshall served on the executi ve committ ee for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night

Walk in East Meadow. In this role, she organized and led multi ple fundraising events at EY’s Long Island offi ce and coordinated a team of walkers to raise money and awareness for the cause. With Carey’s leadership, the EY team raised more than $8,000 and contributed a $15,000 sponsorship, as well.

For more than 15 years, she has played a major role in att racti ng top talent on college campuses. Marshall is also acti vely involved in recruiti ng for EY’s Launch Internship Program, a multi year internship that serves as the fi rm’s primary early identi fi cati on program to att ract top African American, Lati no and Nati ve Amer-ican students to the fi rm. Through this program, she mentors parti cipati ng college freshman, sophomores and juniors, introduces them to the fi rm’s culture and provides coaching and constructi ve feedback.

She is a CPA in the state of New York and holds a B.S. in Accounti ng from Stonehill College.

My fi rst job was at a local bakery in the town, where I grew

up. Looking back, this job taught me a tremendous amount

about hard work, the importance of good customer service

and how to eff ecti vely deal with people. Those skills have

undoubtedly served me well in my current career.


I was inspired to pursue a career in public accounti ng by

my father (also a CPA). I was drawn to EY by the people and

work we do to help our clients, and our community, on a daily

basis.

Who inspires you?

My children (Luke, 9 and Olivia, 6). They both have the

ability to appreciate the litt le things in life and they are

constantly reminding me to slow down and to “stop and smell

the roses!”


ob McGuire is the Executi ve Director of the Cerebral Palsy Associati on of Nassau County (CP Nassau). He has been with the Agency since 1982, and has served in this top management

positi on at the agency for 23 years. Prior to his appointment as Executi ve Director,

McGuire spent 14 years at the not-for-profi t serving as Coordinator of Residenti al Services, Director of Adult Services and Assistant Executi ve Director.

A career professional in the human services fi eld, he spent 11 years working in various residenti al programs before joining CP Nassau. In additi on, McGuire serves on a number of non-profi t boards in leadership roles, the Cerebral Palsy of New York State Board and most recently the New York Disabiliti es Advocates (NYDA).

McGuire’s role with the NYDA intends to shape and lead the concerted eff orts of organizati ons that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabiliti es in order to ensure proper organizati onal and fi nancial support from New York State.

As part of the Cerebral Palsy of New York State Board of Directors, he assists the 24 affi liates in the state to share best practi ces, challenge each other’s thinking, and work in unison to ensure that it is able to conti nue its more than 70 years of service to people with disabil-iti es and their families.

During his 38 years, he has embraced, shared and became known for living and implementi ng the philoso-phies of several management gurus: Stephen R. Covey, John Wooden and Tom Peters. One of his favorite habits is “Begin With the End in Mind.” He embodies the habit, “Think First to Understand; Then to be Un-derstood.” McGuire uses the positi ve, leadership trait, “Manages By Walking Around,” a style coined by Tom Peters.

Eff ecti ve communicati on and transparency are some of the keys to McGuire’s close relati onship with staff . He not only meets all new employees in orientati on, but he also meets each new staff person in his offi ce for a more personal conversati on where he addresses a range of topics including the importance of educati on and enrolling in the agency’s 403B.

With his vision, CP Nassau began an educati onal program, which provides staff the life-changing oppor-tunity to earn an Associate’s Degree. His “open door” sessions pave the way for staff to meet directly with him. Although he will not solve an employee’s problem, he will discuss strategies to handle the issue. Confi den-ti ality is his promise and his promise has never been broken.

oseph Molloy is the Vice President of Workforce Safety at Northwell Health. The Workforce Safety program includes workers’ compensati on, em-ployee safety, return to work and fi tness for duty

strategies, coupled with a conti nued drive for a culture of wellness.

Molloy coordinates his eff orts with Risk, Employee Health Services, and Human Resources to provide a team of advocates for Northwell’s team members injured on the job.

The 2010 Business Insurance Benefi ts Manager of the Year Honor Role and the 2019 Risk and Insurance Teddy Award recipient, he has had progressively more respon-sible roles in benefi ts and risk, including experience in healthcare, consulti ng, facility and aviati on services, retail and insurance fi elds.

With 39 years of experience Molloy has served as a guest speaker at many industry conferences and

workshops, and holds a bachelor’s degree in manage-ment and economics from Cornell University. He is also co-inventor of the Shared Savings Model, Patent U.S. Serial No. 14/310,919.

Molloy is married to Dana. Together they have two daughters, Jennifer and Rachel, and two grandchildren, Sophia and Alexander. They live in North Massapequa, New York, with their menagerie of rescue dogs and two Newfoundland therapy dogs. They spend many week-ends visiti ng hospitals, and visiti ng with individuals who cannot leave their homes.

I started out with a Newsday paper route. My fi rst “real

job” was as a manager at Adventureland in Farmingdale, N.Y.


I knew healthcare would be a growing industry, and, not

being a clinician, I felt this was a great way for me to give back

– providing great benefi ts to those healthcare employees who

take care of so many pati ents




I submit that Northwell will conti nue to expand our foot-

print into the Northeast, and, develop strategic partnerships

with fully integrated health systems not in this geographic

area. We will also conti nue to expand into opportuniti es

not directly related to pati ent care, but, based on skills and

programs we have built to run this organizati on (i.e., HR,

Workforce Safety, and Emergency Management). We navigate

these changes by being at the forefront of innovati on, by tak-

isa Monroe is a Business Banking Area Man-ager at JPMorgan Chase. With her role, she manages a team of business banking relati on-

ship managers who work with small business compa-nies and not-for-profi t organizati ons while simultane-ously supporti ng the bank’s extensive branch network throughout the Long Island area.

Monroe has been very acti ve in local and regional civic organizati ons and economic development organi-zati ons during her 45-year banking career.

Since 1975, she has been building a track record of successfully delivering soluti ons for business owners, including cash management, commercial lending, mer-

chant services, and business development. In her current role, Monroe leads a team of fi nancial

service professionals delivering experti se, value-added soluti ons, and a higher standard of personalized service to local business clients.

While not at work, she is the treasurer of her com-munity’s high school college scholarship fund, and supports several local not-for-profi t organizati ons by volunteering her ti me, as well as her team’s ti me, and giving back whenever possible.

Monroe believes in giving back to the communiti es, in which the bank plays an integral role, by teaching fi nancial literacy in the local schools.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?At age 20, I was the youngest branch manager the bank

ever promoted. I have been blessed with taking branches and teams from non-performing to performing, all while achiev-ing outstanding client sati sfacti on results. I am most proud of watching my direct reports be successful in their current roles, while providing them tools and resources needed to conti nue their careers and reach their goals.What att racted you to your industry?

My parents lived through the Depression and wanted their children to work in an industry that off ered growth, career mobility, and security all while being a true professional in the industry. Banking was considered an elite profession in the ‘70s and aft er discovering I loved making my own money, I was hooked in fi nding ways to move up in the organizati on.

Who inspires you?My mother was my biggest fan, cheerleader, and inspi-

rati on. She dropped out of school at an early age due to hardships at home, but never lost her smile or focus while she achieved her own professional success. She was a true believ-er in paying it forward and to lending a helping hand when-ever possible. At an early age, she inspired me to give back to my communiti es and to volunteer. She wanted not only me, but her other children and grandchildren to be respectf ul, grateful and successful. She raised us on the premise that we should always work hard, give every interacti on 100%, but that good enough was never enough and that we had to work smarter everyday while moving forward and upward. She was a true opti mist (glass was always half full, never half empty) unti l her passing. Although she is no longer with me, I know that she conti nues to watch over our family, and that all of us make her proud!


aul Nick was appointed the President and Chief

Executi ve Offi cer of Guaranteed Returns (GRx)

in December of 2014, aft er originally joining

the company as Corporate Controller. In this role, he

was responsible for leading the company’s fi nancial and

strategic planning eff orts.

He began his career at Ernst & Young, LLP, specializ-

ing in the energy and healthcare industries, and prior

to joining Guaranteed Returns, Nick spent over 20 years

with a major energy and uti lity company, where he was

responsible for all general accounti ng functi ons, SEC

reporti ng, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and fi nancial

reporti ng for other regulatory agencies.

In these previous roles, he was part of the negoti at-

ing team between LICO, LIPA and Brooklyn Union Gas

Company. As part of those negoti ati ons, Nick was on

the team who created the LIPA agreements that are in

place today.

When I started my career in the reverse distributi on

industry, I was completely unfamiliar with its place in phar-

maceuti cal logisti cs. I was originally hired as the controller

and the more I learned, the more fascinated I became. I

soon learned the importance reverse distributi on had in the

healthcare industry and the role that it plays in the supply

chain. Reverse distributi on manages unsalable product

returns on behalf of wholesale distributors, dispensers, and

manufacturers.


20-year-old self?

I would tell myself to truly listen to my father’s advice.

When I was starti ng at Ernst & Young, I compared my salary

to some of my friends and wondered if it was worth it. His

advice was that everything works out in the long run, stay

on course, put in the work and you will see the reward. My

biggest advice to my 20-year-old self would be to value edu-

cati on and always maintain a strong work ethic.

Who inspires you?

My father has always inspired me with his work ethic.

When he was in the workforce, he was an extremely hard-

working man with strong values that always guided him to do

the right thing. He has insti lled the same work ethic in me,

and I am grateful to be able to have such a consistent and

infl uenti al fi gure in my life.

Director for the Northeast at JPMorgan Chase,

overseeing their Consumer Banking and Wealth

Management business. As the division director, she defi nes

frameworks for bankers and advisors, driving transformati ve

initi ati ves to develop strategies to enhance and evolve the

client experience.

Previously, Oden was an executi ve member at Merrill

Lynch, where she spent 8 years in several leadership roles

and spent over 10 years at UBS in various senior capaciti es,

including Managing Director Head of Global Product Internal

Sales, Managing Director of Client Experience for Banking,

and Head of Merger and Acquisiti on Integrati on.

Additi onally, she served as the Senior Vice President of

Client Services and earlier as Chief of Staff for the President

of UBS. She took her fi rst Wall Street job as an associate in

equity trading at Morgan Stanley in 1997.

Oden serves on the Board of Directors for the Apollo

Theater and the Nati onal Board of Directors for the Thurgood

Marshall College Fund. She holds a B.A. in Politi cal Science

from James Madison University and an M.B.A. from Hampton

University.

What was your fi rst job? My fi rst job out of college was here on Long Island at

Publisher’s Clearinghouse. No, I didn’t get the honor to hand out the large check, but I swear it is a real thing! I worked in the mailroom during the night shift , and my job was to fi gure out how to effi ciently process magazine orders. However, it was that experience where I was inspired to go back to school for my MBA, and when I realized I wanted to work on Wall Street and have the opportunity to work with individual clients to help them att ain their goals and dreams by delivering fi nancial advice.


You are going to fi ght harder, work harder, experience more obstacles, but your perseverance, drive, and faith will allow your journey to be bett er for your daughter and the young girls coming aft er you. Who inspires you?

It’s very simple, my mother. Both my parents are immi-grants. My mother sacrifi ced and pushed me to stay focused on my educati on and work hard, but most importantly, to be kind and compassionate to everyone. I would say her words have stayed with me my whole life.

Founded by the late singer, Grammy Award winning songwriter, and social acti vist Harry Chapin, Long Island Cares brings together all available resources for the benefi t of the hungry and food insecure on Long Island, and provides to the best of their ability for the humani-tarian needs of our communiti es.

As part of his vision, he has redefi ned the role of a food bank to off er more direct services bringing Long Island Cares in closer contact with people in need, expanding mobile operati ons and building a network of community resources to increase distributi on and capacity, which resulted in the organizati on receiving Feeding America’s presti gious Hunger’s Hope Award in 2011.

Pachter is on the faculty of St. Joseph’s College in Patchogue where he teaches a second-year graduate course on, “Executi ve Leadership and Models of Inno-vati on.”

He is a graduate of the Adelphi University School of Social Work and has held several positi ons within Long Island’s human services community including Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Mental Health.

He is credited with infl uencing the passage of New York State’s social work parity legislati on, and in 1985, Pachter was selected “Nassau County Social Worker of the Year” by the NASW Nassau Division in recogniti on of his work in the areas of social work and politi cal acti on, and for his contributi ons to the fi elds of mental health.

Pachter is currently a member of the Board of Direc-tors of the Long Island Associati on.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?I’m most proud of what my staff and I have accomplished

by developing Long Island Cares’ network of direct service programs. We operate six community-based satellite loca-ti ons that provide opportuniti es for nonprofi t partners to collaborate with the regional food bank, and we also operate our own emergency food pantries. I’m also very proud of Bax-ter’s Pet Pantry that provides emergency pet food assistance to families in need. Lastly, the reputati on of Long Island Cares as an historic organizati on is something that I’m extremely proud of because it pertains to the 53 dedicated professionals that I have the good fortune to work with every day.

What att racted you to your industry?What att racted me to Long Island Cares was both its

mission and its reputati on. What att racted me to the fi eld of Social Work was my desire to help people in need. I have no tolerance for social injusti ce or to accept that people in need are responsible for their own diffi culti es. I’ve spent 41 years advocati ng for people in need, and developing programs to improve the quality of life for people with mental illness, developmental disabiliti es, children with medical conditi ons, and families and communiti es dealing with poverty and food insecurity.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?I am not one to really focus on accomplishments. I just like

to work and help the world/community at large. However when I take a step back and think about my career it was a huge accomplishment to be featured on the Today Show not once but twice. I went from helping the world with an epidemic (Vaping) to helping the world with the pandemic (COVID-19).

What att racted you to your industry?I love to solve problems. The primary focus of an engineer

is to solve problems.If you could go back in ti me, what would you tell your 20-year-old self?

Network, network, network. Building a strong founda-ti on of people you can call on for advice and support is very important.


n experienced, dynamic and committ ed public health professional, Dr. Jeff rey L. Reynolds is the President/CEO of Family and Children’s Associati on (FCA), based in Mineola.

Since it began as an orphanage more than 134 years ago, FCA has been committ ed to caring for Long Island’s vulnerable children, youth, seniors, and families while helping them prepare for successful futures. The orga-nizati on off ers community-based programs for strug-gling families, at-risk adolescents, vulnerable seniors, and adults with substance use disorders. Today, FCA is one of Long Island’s largest health and human services organizati ons with an annual budget of $20 million, 340 staff , 200 volunteers, and 30+ programs.

From 2009-2014, Dr. Reynolds served as Executi ve Director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD), tripling annual revenues and boosti ng the number of families served per month nine-fold.

Prior to joining LICADD, he worked for the Long Island Associati on for AIDS Care for 19 years, where he fi nished his tenure as Vice President for Public Aff airs.

Dr. Reynolds currently serves on Governor Cuomo’s Heroin and Opioid Task Force, the Nassau County Her-oin Preventi on Task Force, is chair of Suff olk County’s Sober Home Oversight Board, co-chairs the Hunti ngton Town Opioid Task Force and is a member of Suff olk County’s Heroin/Opiate Epidemic Advisory Panel as well as Suff olk’s Welfare-to-Work Commission.

He is Vice Chair and remains the longest serving member of the NYS AIDS Advisory Council. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Families in Sup-port of Treatment (FIST), and Lightning Warriors, Long Island’s Youth Triathlon Team.

Dr. Reynolds has received numerous awards for his community service and is a graduate of Energeia, a regional stewardship program spearheaded by Molloy College.

orothy Roberts is the Vice President Hotel Operati ons with Oxford Hospitality Advisors in Jericho, N.Y. In her current role, she works with

investors in developing new hotels, fi nancial analysis, asset management, and market research. She rep-resents owners in all facets of the hotel industry.

Roberts grew up in Dix Hills, and aft er graduati ng from college with a degree in Business Administrati on, she moved to Washington, D.C.

Her career in hospitality began when Hilton Corpo-rati on recruited her for the opening of a new fl agship hotel. As her career grew, she was promoted to Direc-tor of Sales and Marketi ng, Regional Director and VP of Operati ons.

Roberts moved back to Long Island to bring her

business and hospitality experience to the Long Island market. She has over 25 years of business experience and working with enti ti es such as the White House, FBI, DEA, Secret Service, world leaders, and top fortune 100 CEO’s.

She has received awards for outstanding perfor-mance, community volunteerism, and top sales recogniti ons, including the 2017 Award for Top 50 Most Infl uenti al Women in Business on Long Island and 2019 Long Island Times Most Powerful Women Award. What was your fi rst job?My fi rst job was a Daily News carrier, but one of my earliest

jobs was as an ice cream man. Honestly, I probably wasn’t the friendliest ice cream man, but I learned that Steve Jobs wasn’t enti rely correct when he said, “If you want to make everyone happy, don’t be a leader – sell ice cream.“ According to my customers, the prices were too high, the selecti on was too limited, the ice cream was mushy and I never gave out enough napkins. That’s what they said anyway.


20-year-old self?

Be bold, take chances and most importantly, take care of

your physical and mental health. Find a job that you absolute-

ly love, where you enjoy it so much that you actually marvel

at the fact that they pay you. Surround yourself with smart,

genuine people who because they love you, will tell you the

truth. Understand that this too, shall pass.


The people and the environment. The hospitality industry

is a dynamic fi eld in the business world, it’s ever changing.

The people work hard and are very social and supporti ve. The

opportuniti es for advancement are vast.

ason Sacks is the Director of Investments and

a Partner in the Frisch Financial Group, an

award-winning fi nancial fi rm headquartered in

Melville.

From a young age, Sacks found his passion in the

stock market. At age 12, he bought his fi rst two shares

of stock in Disney. He was att racted to the idea of own-

ing a piece of Mickey Mouse and Disney World.

His interests conti nued to grow in high school, where

he won the “Stock Market Challenge” in his stock

market class. Sacks graduated from the University of

Delaware with a degree in Economics.

Professionally, he began his career at Dreyfus Mutual

Funds. Within the fi rst year, he was recognized for his

skills of working with fi rm clients and his investment

knowledge. He was asked to join a specialized team

that uncovered and provided fi nancial soluti ons to

dissati sfi ed fi rm clients. Success in this role defi ned

him as a leader and was the starti ng point for greater

where he developed his skills as a strategist focused on

oseph Salamone, a nati ve of North Babylon, is

the Founder and Executi ve Director of The Long

Island Coaliti on Against Bullying (LICAB), a posi-

ti on he has held since 2013.

A victi m of bullying himself, Salamone’s vision is sim-

ple: to reach as many children and families experienc-

ing bullying as possible. His driving force is to create an

environment that keeps emphasis on the importance of

the issue all while demonstrati ng fi nancial diligence and

respect with the public’s generous contributi ons.

Under his leadership, LICAB has quickly emerged as

a pioneer organizati on fi ercely advocati ng for children

and families impacted by bullying and proudly working

with many Long Island schools and organizati ons to

maintain and enhance their bullying preventi on curric-

ulums.

Salamone’s drive and passion for the cause has

enabled LICAB to aff ect change through eff orts includ-

ing government task forces and helping to spearhead

passing important legislati on for anti -bullying.

odie Sperico is a seasoned alumni relati ons and fundraising professional with nearly 20 years of experience. She joined Adelphi University in May 2017 and is responsible for the university’s eff orts

to engage, support, and involve its more than 116,000 alumni worldwide.

Prior to Adelphi, she led alumni relati ons at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University for six years. In that role, she was responsible for man-aging volunteer boards, creati ng a fi rst-ti me mentoring program for students and alumni mentors, growing support of the Protégé giving program, developing educati onal programs and planning reunion, donor recogniti on, and special event acti viti es.

Earlier in her career, Sperico served for seven years as director of alumni relati ons at the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America in Wash-ington, D.C. There, she launched the fi rst alumni online community and engaged volunteers for regional chap-

ter leadership roles and as admissions ambassadors. She also successfully launched the Young Alumni Giving Society to increase fundraising parti cipati on from the law school’s most recent graduates.

In additi on, she was the senior volunteer relati ons coordinator for CASE (Council for

Advancement and Support of Educati on), where she worked with their three higher educati on commissions, district conferences and nati onal meeti ngs.

In 2019, Sperico joined the Board of Associati on of Fundraising Professionals Long Island chapter (AFPLI) and serves on its membership committ ee. One of my best friends, Louis, for his ability to overcome a

life that at one point looked desti ned to end in tragedy, and

turning it instead into a life of strength and meaning.


I am proud to make mentoring a priority. At Adelphi, I

co-led the annual Women’s Leadership Conference, which

brings together hundreds of our alumni, students, staff , and

community members for a day of leadership training and

professional development. It has become one of the most

fulfi lling initi ati ves I work on as I get to witness how mentors

inspire and changes lives.


Alumni Relati ons is about people, relati onships and

experiences. I have the opportunity to meet students and

their families as they are starti ng their college careers. I oft en

get to know them as student leaders through their work on

campus and then have the honor of being with them as they

transiti on from student to alumni. It is an incredible cycle to

be part of.

arrett Taylor has a remarkable track record of growth. He founded both Coastline

Wealth Management and its sister company, Advisor Successions, in 2012. Advisor Successions holds a reputati on as the leading nati onal consulti ng fi rm for fi nancial advisors and wealth managers interested in buying or selling fi nancial advisory practi ces, overseeing the successful transiti on of billions of dollars in AUM.

Prior to founding Coastline Wealth Management and Advisor Successions, Taylor spent a decade with Ameri-prise in a number of capaciti es from fi nancial advisor to branch manager.

In 2020, Taylor received nati onal recogniti on as a leader in the fi nancial advice industry, being named to the InvestmentNews 40 under 40 list. He was also a Freedom award recipient for the Independence Party.

He has been recognized as a chairman with Kestra

Financial since 2012, its highest disti ncti on recognizing

outstanding client service. Taylor is a founding member

of the Long Island chapter of Entrepreneur Organiza-

ti on (EO), a global network of successful entrepreneurs.

He enjoys spending ti me with his family, travelling

and skiing. He also sits on the board of Make-A-Wish

of Suff olk County, and thoroughly enjoys giving back to

the community. Coastline sponsors a child annually and

supports the funding for their wishes each year.

Taylor holds a B.S. in Finance from Penn State Univer-

sity with a certi fi cate in

Macroeconomics in Money and Banking. He also

holds the designati on of Chartered Reti rement Planning

Counselor.

Taylor lives in Hunti ngton with his wife, Beth, and

three daughters.

Starti ng my companies Coastline Wealth Management and

Advisor Successions. It has been amazing to watch the organi-

zati ons grow from just 2 initi al employees to a team of 25+.


From elementary school I was att racted to fi nance. My

sixth grade teacher would make me read the Wall Street

Journal and follow stocks, while the other children had snack

ti me. It was from those early learning’s that I really enjoyed

the concept of the business and stuck with it to present day.


20-year-old self?

Stay focused, don’t be complacent, and always see the

forest through the trees.

arisa Striano began riding horses at the age

of 8. Her deep love for animals led her to

founding Spirit’s Promise Equine Rescue in

2010 with her daughter, Jessica.

Aft er graduati ng from Stonehill College with a de-

gree in Psychology, she worked as a special educati on

teacher, a project manager for a constructi on company,

and in the garment industry before opening her own

clothing store in Chappaqua.

In 2015, her marriage came to an end. Shortly

thereaft er, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and

underwent a double mastectomy. Despite this adver-

sity, she conti nued her path to both personal healing

and helping others to heal. She began to understand

that being vulnerable herself would help her to bett er

understand those who were coming to Spirit’s Promise.

Her vision to help both horses and people led her to

become trained in a certi fi cati on of EAGALA. In addi-

ti on, she has completed her certi fi cati on as an Equus

Life Coach through the Koelle Insti tute.

Striano is a certi fi ed grief counselor, helping people

work through their grief with the assistance of her

horses holding space for each of them. The programs

she has created at Spirit’s Promise have helped count-

less fi nd the tools they need to work through their

trauma and grief.

She specializes in work with teenagers and young

adults, and has created a haven for people, horses, and

many other animals to help them fi nd peace, love and a

safe haven to heal.

I am most proud of creati ng Spirit’s Promise. I feel that this

is my desti ny.


I have always loved and admired the forgiveness of

animals. They are the purest of souls. Horses are the most

empathic creatures on earth.




I see myself traveling, telling people about my story and

how to overcome their fears and self-doubts. I see Spirit’s

Promise becoming the Equine/Human Center for healing on

Long Island. People will come from all over to get out of their

heads to feel bett er. Our lives have become exponenti ally

more diffi cult and people need to heal from the madness

around them. Spirit’s Promise will be here to help.

ebora Thivierge, is a true pioneer in creat-

ing services that support people aff ected by

auti sm. She is the Founder and CEO of the

ELIJA Foundati on, ELIJA School, ELIJA Farm, and ELIJA’s

Transiti on Program and Services (TPS).

Thivierge is affi liated with, and has volunteered her

ti me with, numerous groups such as Nassau County’s

Department of Health Early Interventi on Coordinat-

ing Council, New York State Associati on of Behavior

Analysis, Nassau County Auti sm Coaliti on (run by the

County Executi ve), and served as a board member of

The Behavior Analyst Certi fi cati on Board® (BACB®) for

5 years.

She was appointed to the New York State Licensure

Board for Applied Behavior Analysis in 2014 and served

unti l 2018, when she stepped down to advocate for

the advancement of the fi eld in ABA. In additi on to

her numerous organizati onal affi liati ons, Thivierge was

recently asked to serve on Suff olk County’s task force,

which was created to prevent abuse of children with

developmental disabiliti es, who are twice as likely to be

abused.

For the past 20 years, she has made it her life’s work

to provide advocacy and support for families, including,

but not limited to, conducti ng training and workshops

to promote evidence based instructi on for families and

educators who have been touched by auti sm.

She received her B.A. in Sociology from Hofstra

University and is a Board Certi fi ed Assistant Behavior

Analyst. She has a 21-year-old son with auti sm.

I am an auti sm advocate and program developer to make the world a bett er place for families like myself.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by all the people I have met along my journey.

I take the best parts of each and every one of them and aspire

to incorporate their values into myself. The parents at ELIJA

are incredible the way they are so hopefully and determined,

my colleagues intellect and professionalism, my staff who

have such resilience and energy to keep the ELIJA mission

going.

Anthony Tomaro, CPAPartner, Consulting Services Leader

nthony Tomaro has been providing account-

ing and management consulti ng services for

over 30 years. As a Partner and Consulti ng

Services Leader at Grassi, he directs the growth of the

fi rm’s consulti ng practi ce through the development of

innovati ve business strategies and services.

His hands-on approach allows him to become inti -

mately familiar with clients’ business operati ons so he

can help them identi fy and implement ways to increase

effi ciency and profi tability.

Tomaro specializes in guiding clients through merger

and acquisiti on transacti ons, providing advisory ser-

vices for both buyers and sellers.

During his career, Tomaro has held diff erent positi ons

in the c-suite working with private equity groups to

run and realign some of their portf olio companies for

a sale. He also has extensive experience working with

publicly traded companies and has consulted on Initi al

Public Off erings projects along with Specifi ed Purpose

Acquisiti on Companies (SPACs) and reverse mergers

transacti ons.

He has spent signifi cant ti me helping private equi-

ty fi rms with investments by providing fi nancial due

diligence, quality of earnings analysis and operati onal

improvements insights prior to them making invest-

ments.

Tomaro earned his bachelor’s in business adminis-

trati on from Adelphi University. He is a member of the

American Insti tute of Certi fi ed Public Accountants (AIC-

PA) and the New York State Society of Certi fi ed Public

Accountants (NYSSCPA).

What was your fi rst job?My fi rst job when I came to this country from Italy at the

age of 13 was a dishwasher in an Italian restaurant. Aft er a year or so, I learned how to cook the enti re menu and was quickly promoted to chef. Culinary has always been my pas-sion to the point where I almost went to culinary school.

Who inspires you?I get inspired everyday by everyone around me. I always

keep an open mind and want to learn from my superiors, clients, peers, and subordinates. I’m also inspired by the busi-ness owners who have the courage and ambiti on to seek out an advisor to help them solve their business problems. It’s very rewarding to see a client take your advice and see how it helped them.
