Allah — there is no God but He, the Living, the Self-Subsisting and All-Sustaining. Slumber seizes Him not, nor sleep. To Him belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. Who is he that will intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them; and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He pleases. His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth; and the care of them burdens Him not; and He is the High, the Great.

EARLY ISLAMIC HISTORY

FORGIVENESS OF THE HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMADSA

F orgiveness plays a big part in today’s society. In fact, forgiveness has played

a huge part in every society, no matter the time period. Forgiveness was one of many attributes of the holy prophet of Islam, Mu-hammadsa.

Hadrat mirza bashiruddin Mahmud ahmadra states (in his book- life of Muhammad)-‘‘All rites and duties over, the Prophetsa addressed the Meccans and said: “You have seen how true the promises of God have proved. Now tell me what punishment you should have for the cruelties and enormities you committed against those whose only fault was that they invited you to the wor-ship of the One and Only God.” To this the Meccans replied, “We expect you to treat us as Josephas treated his erring brothers.” By significant coincidence, the Meccans used in their plea for forgiveness the very words which God had used in the Surah Yusuf, revealed ten years before the conquest of Mecca. In this the Prophetsa was told that

he would treat his Meccan persecutors as Josephas had treated his brothers. By ask-ing for the treatment which Josephas had meted out to his brothers, the Meccans ad-mitted that the Prophetsa of Islam was the like of Josephas and as Josephas was grant-ed victory over his brothers the Prophetsa had been granted victory over the Meccans. Hearing the Meccans’ plea, the Prophetsa declared at once: “By God, you will have no punishment today and no reproof” (Hisham).’

The holy prophet only recited a few words of wisdom which ended the long enmity he had against his foes. If only everyone start-ed forgiving like the holy prophet sa , the world would figuratively change

Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiquera was a friend of the Holy Prophet Muham-madsa and when he learnt of the call to Islam he was the first person to accept.

Hazrat Abu Bakrra was a very devout companion of the Holy Prophetsa and was extremly obe-dient and loyal to him. He would always try to be the first to act upon a command and would excel in righteousness.

When the migration took place and the Meccans set out to find the Holy Prophetsa Hazrat Abu Bakrra along with the Holy Prophetsa took refuge in Cave Thaur

The Holy Prophetsa gave the title of As-Saddique (meaning the truthful) to Hazrat Abu Bakrra due to his righteousness.

After the demise of the Holy Prophetsa Hazrat Abu Bakrra was elected as the first Khalifah to lead Islam.

During his time as Khalifah, Hazrat Abu Bakrra achieved many milestones. One of these was that he began the compilation of the Holy Quran.

AHMADIYYAT:THE TRUE ISLAM

the promised messiah’sas amazing patience and steadfastness

T he Promised Messiahas (Hazrat Mirza Ghulam

Ahmad Sahibas) always showed an excellent level of patience and steadfastness even when times became extremely difficult. Many a time would it happen that opponents would wite letters filled with abuse to the Promised Messiahas but the Promised Messiahas would simply just pray for them that Allah shows them the true path.

The Promised Messiahas once stated that even if a person were to sit in front of him for a whole year and give the worst possible abuse he would not be able to shake the high level of patience that the Promised Messiahas displayed. When people heard that the Promised Messiahas made the

claim to be the Mahdi and Messiah that was prophecised by the Holy Prophetsa they turned against him and started to persecute Ahmadis. Even some of the close relatives of the Promised Messiahas began to hate him. But as is the excel-lent moral standard of all of the prophets of God, the Promised Messiahas never answered to anyone rudely or cursed any-one. Rather he always ignored them and prayed to Allah.

This is an excellent example for us that whenever we feel angry because of someone’s harsh words we should always turn to God and pray.

KHILAFAT Sayings and incidents of our beloved Khulafah

azrat Khalifatul Masih Ira used to be the personal physician to the MaharajaااHاof Kashmir for many years. Once whilst travelling, Huzur was injured following an incident with a spring and had to travel the remainder of the journey in a carriage. This lasted about a month and during this period Huzur learnt the first 14 parts of the Holy Quran by heart. Huzur’s Darses were so powerful and full of knowledge that people used to travel from far off places to listen to them. He even taught the Maharaja of Kashmir 15 parts of the Quran.

LOVE FOR THE HOLY QURAN

07

Hazrat Musleh Maudra used to play football as a child. Some cricket players came to Qadian and made a team. They once asked Hazrat Musleh Maudra to request his blessed father to join them in the game. When he went to see his father, he was writing a book. Upon hearing the request he put his pen down and said:

‘Your ball will not leave the ground [you will be playing in] but I am playing that kind of cricket in which the ball will reach the ends of the world!’

A GAME OF CRICKET

[ EXCELLENT MANNERS]Huzoorrh had such a good moral conduct and behaviour that when he was studying in England his college professors were extremely impressed . When Huzoorrh visited England after he became Khalifatul Masih he met one of his porfessors who warmly welcomed him. The professor told other members of the community that he had seen signs of leadership in Huzoorrh from when he was a student and was certain that he would be a leader amongst his people one day. Little did he realise how right he was.

I also want Ahmadis to excel in other fields such as sports.

IMPORTANCE OF SPORTS

I remember when I decided to dedicate my life to the Waqf-e-Zindagi Scheme, the tehrik-e-Jaid office people, I think, did not need me because they though they did not want somebody qualified in this particular subject- either they could give me some job in the office or ask me to go to Africa and there was no demand for this particular subject in our schools in Africa. So I wrote directly to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih III and he marked that letter to Tehrik-e-Jadid. Tehrik-e-Jadid

replied to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih III, that as wedont need this boy at present it is therefore appropriate to ask him to do some other job. As soon as Haz- rat Khalifatul Masih III received this letter, he said, ‘you don’t need him but I need him’. Then he asked me to go through Nusrat Ja- han to Ghana, Africa. When I went to see him at the time I was leaving for Ghana, he embraced me and that was the first experience I had of embracing any of the Khalifahs.

Israfeel Kusi recieving his trophy at the Charity Challenge

My name is Israfeel Kusi-Addo and I was the winner for the 5k Run for the Charity Challenge. Established in the 1980s, the Charity Challenge invites people to walk, run or cycle to raise money for charity. An event that raises approximately a quarter of a million pounds a year, the AMYA, ( Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association) Charity Chal-lenge has become a flagship for the Muslim Youth Association.

The annual event, ‘Mercy for Mankind’ Charity Challenge was held on Saturday 16th April in Hyde Park, London at 10:30am. This year’s Charity Challenge was an amazing success; even though it was quite chilly, wet and dreary, hundreds of mem-bers from the organisation were able to attend.

For me, the Charity Challenge is not about the actual run, instead it’s about the money raised for a great cause – Charity. Chari-ties such as Save The Children, RSPCC, Great Ormond’s Street and many, many more. It is quite wonderful to see how many people attend and support the event all for such an amazing cause

The race itself was very hard as I needed stamina, determination and most of all perseverance. Many people trained weeks in advance. My usual exer-cise regime includes, playing football three times a week, participating in Martial Arts to prepare themselves for the run. It was quite competitive, enter-taining and everyone wanted to beat their friend or rival. My time last year was 40 mins, whereas this year it was 25 mins improving by 15 mins which is really good. Of course the race was very laborious however, I made sure that I started off

really strong then kept a steady pace making sure I didn’t tire out and ex-haust myself. The race was exhaust-ing both physically, and mentally, but it was all worth it especially receiving the trophy from Sadr and Amir Sahib.

The day was quite enjoyable, fantas-tic and chilly of course, but that was just usual British weather. May Allah reward us all for our sacrifice, charity and kindness, Ameen. I end with a saying of the Holy Prophet Muham-mad (SAW)

‘Every Act of Kindness is Charity’

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

HIGH SELF ESTEEM

There are plenty of rea-sons why sports is good for your education. One of the reasons is; you can let out stress and your wor-ries. When you do sports everyone wants to win and if you win you feel good. Feeling good makes your 3

45

6

POSITIVE ATTITUDE

If your self-esteem is high then you go into places and have the feeling that you can do it. It is scientifically proven that if you work with a positive attitude, you will do better than if you start working with a negative attitude.

STRENGTH

Sports is a good way to earn mus-cular strength. You will need this because, if you are sitting down for a long time than your back starts to strain, and you will not be able to concentrate for the rest of the day. You will be fidgeting and con-stantly moving and be distracting yourself and others around you.

HEALTHY MIND

As my doctor says, “a healthy body makes a healthy mind”. Just like our bodies need food and water to survive, the body needs exercise to keep the brain healthy.

BETTER EDUCATION

If we eat healthy foods, and then exercise, our education will become stronger, and we will physically equipped to deal with all stresses that education brings with it.

SPIRITUAL FOOD

However, the most import-ant food and exercise for the body is spiritual food, the love for Allah the Al-mighty, and the best ex-ercise known to humans, namaz.

The race itself was very hard as I needed stami-na, determination and most of all persever-ance.

RIZWAN BUTT WITH HIS ATFAL FROM UPPER

MITCHAM BEING A TIFL HIMSELF WE ASK HIM HOW

HE INSPIRES HIS PEERS

A FEW QUESTIONS FOR A LOCAL NAZIM

ATFAL

[

[1. HOW DO YOU GET ATFAL TO BE MOTIVATED?The way I motivate my Atfal is that i go to their houses and make a close relationship with them so that they know that I am not some random guy nagging them to come to class, rather if you make a close bond with the atfal, he would want to come because of the way you present yourself In front of him. In class I always do something fun aswell so that will motivate the atfal to come again.

2. WHAT ACTIVITIES DO ATFAL IN YOUR QIADAT LIKE TO GET INVOLVED IN?The different activities that my atfal like to get involved in are football, cricket and basket-ball. They also like to go on the different trips that the jamat organise, for example some of the atfal have gone to Spain and some have gone holland with the jamat. At the end they always come Back with a smile on their faces.

3. IN YOUR OPINION WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET ATFAL TO OFFER NAMAZ ON TIME?What ever you do, you cannot force a child to read namaz. The way I get the atfal to offer Namaz on time is that I tell them the importance of namaz. I also tell them incidents of people who have had such a strong relationship with Allah because they read their five dai-ly prayers on time and to return the favour Allah helped them to succeed in life.

4. WHAT IS YOUR MAIN TARGET FOR THIS YEAR?My main target by the end of This year is to bring out all of my 30 atfal from their homes and bring to the classes. I also want all my Atfal to get involved in other jamat events, so they know and understand that the jamat has a lot of proud history behind them.

Hizkeel Ahmad is a 14-year-old Tifal from Sheffield

Qiadat of Yorkshire Region who resides in a town named Doncaster, 23 miles from Sheffield. He is a special need child but his love and passion for Khilafat is incredible. I have not seen anyone, his age, with so much affection with the Khilafat. Every Friday he listens to Hazoor’s (May Allah be his helper) Friday sermon and then makes an effort to learn what Hazoor has said. The first thing he does after returning from School on a Friday is run to his room, change his clothes and grab his tablet to listen to the recording of Hazoor’s Friday sermon. He

has a habit of listening to the recording at least thrice. His mother says

“ Every Friday morning before going to the school he asks me to record Hazoor’s Friday sermon. He never remembers any day in a week but when its Friday, he comes to me shout-ing excitedly “ami today is Friday and hazoor will come”. Despite he having a brain of 8 year old, his knowledge about Jamaat is unbelievable. He has his own tablet but he rare-ly plays any video games on it like other children. Mostly he is listening to various speech-es delivered by Hazoor on his tablet. He has a big collection

of them from Jalsa Salana and Q/A sessions of Khalifatul Masih IV (atb). He keeps on saying to me that he wants to do a speech and recite Nazam at Jalsa.”

He is a moving computer who could narrate the summary of Friday sermon anytime. His favourite colour is Red and he loves boiled rice with Jalsa Daal. Remember this child in your special prayers. May Allah strengthen his love for Khilafat and give him speedy recovery. Ameen. May we all learn from his good acts and change ourselves accordingly.

TARBIYYAT

Some of our older readers will know the basic differences in belief pretty well. Ahmadis are Muslims who believe in the Messiah (Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas). We have accepted him to be that very person, promised to us by the Quran and the Holy Prophetsaw, who would come to reform the Muslim community. He gave us some key points to make a part of our lives and through these he said we would become truly different.

1. Before starting a task or when facing a problem, Ahmadis should put all there trust in Allah and ask for his help though

WHAT MAKES US AHMADIS?

prayers, remembering that they are weak and Allah All-Powerful.

2. Ahmadis should be kind, forgiving, cheerful and well-mannered.

3. Obedience to Allah, His prophets and khalifas, parents and elders generally should be complete.

If we are Atfal who believe in the Promised Messiahas we should act like it and make sure we have all of these qualities and then some. Of course we believe in the Messiahas. But following his teachings; that’s what makes us Ahmadi.

The purpose of the ‘Have you ever wondered’ section is to tackle a different kind of question...

Your Question goes here

Asalamoalaikum! My name is

Ghalib and I am the Tarbiyyat

Secretary for atfal. You can

HOW SHALL I TREAT RUDE

PEOPLE?

The Holy Prophet (sa) taught us that ev-eryone shold be treated with love. If somebody is being rude we should al-ways try our best not to reply back rudely, because a Muslim never talks indecently or hurts anyone in any way. A Muslim does not hurt anybody with their hands nor with their words. You should never think that you are better than the other therefore you should never stop talking to anybody out of anger if they do a mistake for more than even a day.You should rather always be the better person and reply with love and kindness to anything they say and avoid hatred at all times. If you treat everyone with love, they will become your friends and fellow brothers through whom Allah almighty will support you when you in need of help. (Insh’Allah)To make these rude people understand their mistakes, we all should always set a better example than them for everybody around us.

WHATS THE HARM IN ME

SPENDING ALL MY TIME WITH

NON-AHMADIS WHETHER MUSLIM

OR NOT?

We all should remember that our environment alway affect our actions and our ways of think-ing while we dont even realise it, so all your friends have an effect on how you behave. This world we live in today has many bad things in it. Most of these things are accept-able by Non-Ahmadis. There are so many bad things that are acceptable in todays society by Non Ahmadis that sometimes you will not even know that they are bad for you. But if you spend most of you time with your Ahmadi friends with whom you have more things in common, who think the way you think and also have learned the correct rules how to behave from their parents just like you, it is likely you will not even go close to these bad things that everybody is doing in todays society.

You should not forget that there are good peo-ple everywhere, but most of us are different. So you should think very carefully about what kind of friend you are looking for. First you should take your time to look at all the good and bad things in somebody you want to be friends with. You should try to notice how you behave when they are with you, also stay away from even very small bad things that people make you do or you do yourself when they are there and find somebody who will help you to stay away from even small wrong actions and things.

Remember that chosing the right type of friends at a young age could change your future life to a much better one!
