1. Introduction

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (the then Department of Pharmacy) wasestablished in 1997 at Postgraduate Department of Chemistry, Durham House Nainital tocater the long lasting demand of the people of the Uttarakhand state and to impartprofessional training to the students of the region. The Department is presently situated inthe scenic valley of Bhimtal amidst the Shivalik and middle Himalayan ranges. The coolclimatic conditions along with the serene beauty of the nature in region provide an aptenvironment to imbibe the knowledge being disseminated.

The department has started the Post graduate (M.Pharm) course since 2008 in thefollowing disciplines:

1. Pharmaceutics 18 (15 open, 3 sponsored) seats*2. Pharmaceutical Chemistry 18 (15 open, 3 sponsored) seats*3. Pharmacology 18 (15 open, 3 sponsored) seats*4. Pharmacognosy 18 (15 open, 3 sponsored) seats*

Ph. D programme in Pharmacy has also been initiated from academic session, 2009-2010.

Applications are invited for admission to first semester M.Pharm. (Pharmaceutics,Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy) at Department ofPharmaceutical Sciences, Kumaun University, Bhimtal Campus, Bhimtal.

Students appearing in final exam or result awaited students are eligible forprovisional admission.

Changes in the schedule if any, will be notified in the official website, Noseparate information will be send to the candidates.

*The seats may be increased or decreased on the discretion of the university.

3. a) Forms can be downloaded from the University/ Department website,www.kunainital.ac.in / www.kudops.org

b) Application must be sent on the prescribed format along with a demand draft of Rs.1500/- (One thousand five hundred only) and Rs.750/- (seven hundred fifty only) incase of SC/ST candidates, in favour of ‘Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences-M.Pharm. course’, payable at Bank of Baroda, Nainital.

c) Documents Required to be attached along with the application form: Self-attested photocopies of certificate in support of educational qualifications, GPATscore (if qualified); experience and category certificate (in case of SC / ST / OBCcandidates).

d) Application form complete in all respects should reach, The Head, Department ofPharmaceutical Sciences, Kumaun University, Bhimtal Campus, Bhimtal,263136, Uttarakhand by hand/speed post/ registered post on or before 05th July,2016 (4 p.m.). The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences shall not be responsiblefor any delay.

4. Details of Seats

There shall be 72 seats; out of which 60 seats will be open and 12 seats are sponsoredseats. Reservation will be as per State Govt. rules. The seats may be increased ordecreased at the discretion of the University without any further notification.

6. Eligibility Criteria

For admission to first semester of M.Pharm course the candidate should have passedthe examination for the degree of Pharmacy (B.Pharm.) of this University or any otherUniversity/institute in India, recognized as equivalent thereto by the University with atleast 50% marks in aggregateNote:(i) Preference will be given to GPAT qualified students.

(ii) Candidates sponsored by the Industry/Academic Institutions have to producesponsorship certificate from competent authority.

7. Selection Procedurea. Selection to M. Pharm. would be based on valid GPAT score

b. In case of the seats remaining vacant the selection of non GPAT students would bebased on merit of qualifying examination (i.e. B.Pharm)

c. Students appearing in final exam or result awaited students are eligible forprovisional admission.

8. General Notes• The decision of University for the selection of candidates shall be final

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bhimtal Campus is situated in the upper banks(Mallital) of the Bhimtal Lake along embankments on the Block Road.The nearest railway station is -

Kathgodam – 24 Kms awayLalkuan – 44 Kms away

It is also approachable by road from either Haldwani (27 kms) or Nainital (22kms)
