Funding Priorities

1. Reduce early breast cancer death in African American and rural populations through breast cancer prevention services

2. Increase provider and community collaboration by funding health system and community partnerships to increase access to services, especially in Bienville, Sabine and Caddo parishes

3. Identify and promote all breast cancer prevention methods to individuals who are uninsured and underinsured in Northwest Louisiana.

Race for the Cure teams programTeamwork-A team gives people the opportunity to volunteer their time,

talent, and dollars together to make a difference and have fun doing it. Take up the challenge to be a part of finding a cure by raising funds !

Education-As a team, you inspire others to learn about early detection, to encourage women to learn about their personal risk, and to have yearly exams; to educate NWLA on the importance of breast health.

Awards-Working together, you can accomplish great things, Make your fundraising goal reach even further. Strive to build the largest team, with every member raising funds. Strive to be the top fundraiser in your category!

Motivation-Turn talk into action. Spread the word, asking people to donate, to get screened and to be a strong advocate for breast cancer education. Tell everyone you know about the urgency of this cause and get them motivated!

Race for the Cure teams programWhat is an OFFICIAL team-you must have 10 or

more participants who commit to raising a minimum of $100 each

What are your responsibilities-Create the team page, customize the team page, register yourself, set your teams fundraising goal, & pick up your teams packet, motivate team members to reach goals

What will Komen NWLA provide-Participant materials, team signs, fundraising incentives, assistance

RAISE MONEY!!! • Set a fundraising goal. HOW WILL YOU ACHIEVE THE GOAL?

• Team captain should be the first to register and self donate at the time of registration to get your team started and set an example for your team members

• Encourage each team member to set a goal, share that goal with you (minimum of $50) and hold them to that goal

• Team Sponsorship-Offer businesses the opportunity to “sponsor” your team by donating to it. They get a tax deduction & your team gets a fundraising boost!

• Wrap Around Income-Bake Sales, Best Dress Pink Day, Pink Décor Days

• Leadership Challenge Income-Challenge senior executive or management to match the funds raised by your team
