We already know that adjectives agree in GENDER and NUMBER with the noun they describe.

Possessive adjectives tell you who owns something!

Ejemplo: Es mi dinero. (It is my money.)

Unlike English, Spanish possessive adjectives AGREE with the nouns they describe.

Es mi gata. It is my cat.Son mis gatas. They are my cats.

SU - your (formal)

SU - his/her/its

Use: NOUN + de + PERSON  Ejemplo: Es su abuela. 

OR 

Es la abuela de Juan. Es la abuela de Anita. Es la abuela de ellos.

In Spanish, unlike English a possessive adjective must be repeated before each noun it modifies.

Ejemplo:Mi madre y mi padre son

de Puerto Rico. English: My mother and

father are from Puerto Rico.

When discussing your family use indefinite articles.

Ejemplo:Tengo un hermano. (I have a brother). AVOID

saying, “Tengo el hermano.”

Ejemplo: Es mi hermano. (He is my brother). AVOID saying, “Es mi un hermano.”
