Electronic weighing has created a much more accurate and faster generation of weighing.

Clamp or bolt your loadbars onto a crush or platform and once connected to a digital head you can begin weighing. No more guessing what the weight is whilst the old style mechanical clock needle jumps around- the weight is shown clear and precise on the LCD display.

We would recommend using MP (multi purpose) loadbars If you need to move your crush/platform around or HD (heavy duty) if you want to bolt your crush/platform to the floor and never have to worry about it moving out of place again. Dynamica Generale produce a range of weighing equipment designed to increase the accuracy and efficiency of feeding, weighing cattle and the weighing of imported and exported forage and manure from the farm.

Pegasus 2 is an on board pressure weighing system that can be retro fitted on any telescopic handler, loading shovel or front end loader. Chieftain: is a modern type yoking system, that comes in from the side, like a pair of scissors and as such the animal in the crush doesn’t see the yoke until it is yoked. 250 dairy cows,replacement heifers and a flock of breeding ewes doesn’t leave much time for leisure at Shordley Hall farm, so two years ago Richard Pilkington decided to invest in Vel’phone Calving Alert technology.This saves on the time spent checking the dry cow yard,day and night.

The system works with radio waves from a central control box, and with 350 calvings per year , 7 temperature probes are sufficient to monitor every cow calving,on an all year round basis.

Richard inserts the probes a week before the predicted date and waits for a signal to be sent to his phone. A rise and fall in temperature sends a ‘ 48hr alert’,and when she starts pushing out the water bag,the probe hits the ground and sends a final ‘text alert’. Most cows calve within an hour of this final alert.

Richard sets a ‘time delay’ for night time calvings and says ‘it’s a reliable system, 99% of the time the cow is at the point of calving as I come into the shed’. Somebody is always on hand if the cow is having difficulty,and we can attend to the cow, the calf and colostrum at the same time.

Realtime body temperature monitoring for cowsThe BellaAg bolus is an exciting addition to the Wynnstay portfolio of products. The bolus which resides in the reticulum of the cow, records the cows core body temperature every 15 minutes for 4 years providing an up to date picture of herd health. Tell-tale increases in core body temperature can give an early indication of ill health up to 48 hours before the observation of clinical signs or symptoms. Implementing treatment earlier can result in an improved prognosis and reduced veterinary costs.

The BellaAg software flags up cows with raised body temperatures for attention which enrols the cow on a standard treatment protocol which begins with a detailed ten point check (Table 1). Adopting bolus technology has been shown to reduce treatment costs, the value of milk discarded as well an increase milk production and cull value.

Different conditions generate different temperature patterns which can be used as a primary diagnosis by an experienced operator. In future it is predicted that data generated by the bolus will be used to detect signatures of heat.

WHAT IS INDUCTION LIGHTING?

Induction lighting is a closed glass tube technology or florescent lighting without filaments or electrodes. It uses a magnetic field to excite the electrons in the bulb as the electrons accelerate inside the bulb, they collide with mercury atoms and produce ultraviolet (UV) light radiation. The UV light then causes the special phosphor coating inside the glass to react in a way that produces fluorescent light within the visible spectrum.

Environmental benefits of the Day-Lighter:

• Based on 100,000 hours of life you may have to replace one bulb and/ or one ballast. The bulb is recyclable except for the dime size reservoir of mercury. The die cast aluminium housing is recyclable, the lens is recyclable and much of the ballast can be recycled. This probably makes the Enviralight one of the most environmentally friendly lights available today

• If we compare our 250 Watts induction at 100,000 to the 6 bulb and 2 ball ast florescent T bulbs with 20,000 hours of light you would have to change and throw into the landfill site 30 bulbs and 10 ballast

Long Lifespan

Experience with using induction light at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) near Carlsbad, New Mexico, has demonstrated the long life in actual usage. More than 10 years later, all but three of the original 36 induction units are still operating after more than 88,000 hours of continuous, 24/7 operation.
