Looking for Environmental Health and Safety Careers? Environmental health officers are responsible for anything to do with public health. Any incidents that may affect the public health like pollution or food poisoning from a food outlet. The overall work also includes education prevention and enforcement of the law. Some of the responsibilities of the environmental health officer are listed below; 1. Liaising with business owners and organisations 2. Gathering evidence from premises and collating 3. Providing evidence in a court of law 4. Investigating complaints and reports from the public 5. Supervising unqualified junior staff 6. Making routine inspections of commercial and private premises This is not a comprehensive list but an overview of some of the duties performed by an environmental health officer. EHS careers are available in many sectors some of the typical employers of ehs jobs are local authorities, food retailers, Armed forces, supermarkets and commercial organisations. Safety jobs are available in all these areas and one of the key skills of obtaining safety health jobs is excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment and have the ability to communicate at all levels. To obtain a job in environmental health you will need a degree in one of the chartered institute of environmental health’s approved courses. Although a degree is needed before becoming an environmental health office you will still need to have on-going training to keep up to date on all new legislation and techniques in the industry. Many private companies will also employ their own environmental and safety officer to help in the smooth running of operations.

They also make sure that the risk of injury to employees in the work place is at the bare minimum. So it doesn't matter which industry you would like to work in you will always be able to find an environmental health position within the industry that you choose.
