Loma Linda Academy U.S. History Book Report Guidelines First Semester 2016-2017 Your report should have the standard MLA heading that includes your name, the date, the class, and my name (Mrs. Constanzo) Each report should have the reference of the book in the Works Cited page. It should include the title, author, publisher, date published, etc. (MLA) Begin the report with an introductory paragraph stating the main theme of the book. Make sure that the theme is stated clearly in this paragraph. The first paragraph should also reference the book title and author’s name. The body of your report should include a brief description of the book and explanation of the central ideas as they relate to U.S. History. Remember that any quotes need to be punctuated correctly and referenced. The last paragraphs need to include your evaluation of the book. Would you recommend it? Why or why not? Was this a good supplement to a U.S. History course? What did you learn about the United States from this book? The very last paragraph is your conclusion. Restate the theme of the book in this paragraph. Make sure that your concluding sentence is very clear. The book report should be a minimum of three pages, typed and double-spaced. The font size should be no larger than 12. Follow the MLA format. Correct grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and spelling is expected. This will also count in the final grade given for this paper. Book report rough drafts are to be submitted to turnitin.com by 11:59pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2016. Each rough draft will be peer reviewed three times no later than 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. All final book reports should be turned in to turnitin.com by 11:59pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2016. This is a required assignment. You must bring your chosen book to school to show the teacher by Thursday, September 8, 2016.
