How to Write a Recreation List and a Poster

Tips for reference

A recreation list or a poster is the list of the address and programs for

tourists’ recreation. Usually it is classified into several categories

according to different services provided or it tells the specific services or

programs in detail. Information on detailed location/address, category of

services, ways of contact (usually telephone number), name of store,

etc. are required. The information listed should be correct, clear and

detailed, and for a poster the attractive words are necessary.

1. Reading aloud until you can say it from memory, then translate it

into Chinese. The promotion of recreation and tourism has been both praised and

criticized as a rural development strategy. This study is to assess the

effect of recreation and tourism development on socioeconomic conditions

in rural area. The findings imply that recreation and tourism development

contributes to rural well-being, increasing local employment, wage levels,

and income, reducing poverty, and improving education and health. But

recreation and tourism development is not without drawbacks, including

higher housing costs. Local effects also vary significantly, depending on

the type of recreation area.

3. Read the following passage and decide whether they are true (T)

or false (F).

The art of growing dwarf trees, or “bonsai” as their Japanese creators call

them, is increasing in popularity in the Untied States.

There are four important guidelines to follow in growing bonsai. First, one

must be careful in choosing the type of tree. One must be careful in

choosing the size of the container the bonsai will be in. This is necessary

because the major growth of bonsai is kept confined to the tree's trunk and

leaves, not its root system--a process quite unlike what is done with other

plants. Another thing the bonsai-grower must do is trim the roots and

branches of the tree periodically. Unless this is done, the plants will not have

the proper proportions and will look unnatural. The last thing one most does

is to be careful to keep the miniature trees well-watered. Because bonsai are

grown in smaller-than-usual containers, they often need more water than

ordinary houseplants do.

LOGO

Part Four Exercises

As one can see from the above, the art of bonsai growing is one,

which requires a certain amount of time and effort. The satisfactions that

growing bonsai brings can be great, however. Imagine a stately pine tree,

100 years old, standing two feet high; imagine having such a tree in your

living room and passing it down through several generations of your

family.

When sending flowers, people should take the species and colors

into consideration, i.e. what flowers are suitable for what occasions and

what color of them is appropriate. Generally red roses are the most

precious gift for love. Yellow roses are the peace roses according to

their designation during the World War . Roses of other shades such as Ⅱ

pink and purple may be used for as diverse purposes as congratulations

or compliments and so on.

Here is the spectrum of color tips:

Let’s start with white. In early history, white signified purity or virginity.

Yet today for the Japanese and other Orientals, white is as a symbolic

representative of hope at funerals.

In Brazil and Mexico, purple is the color of death. Brown, as seen is

withered leaves, is the funeral color in Persia.

In England, red is regarded as an “old” color, but in Japan the

combination of red and white is widely regarded as appropriate for happy

and pleasant occasions.

Americans see red when they are angry; green jealousy; blue

coolness; black morbid…
