(CTS 10 MINUTE DIARY)

TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

READ: MATTHEW 10:26-33 MEDITATE The biggest obstacle to being freed by the Lord from my demons is fear. Am I willing to admit that there are parts of me that I do not submit to Christ’s power? What am I holding back from him? It is there that my demons most influence me.

LET US PRAY

O Lord Jesus, transform me into your disciple, so that I may win others over to you.

May I experience greater intimacy with you. Please instruct, form, and shape me, always,

so that you may truly send me out as your disciple. Amen ACT The word disciple comes for the same root as discipline. Ask yourself, “what disciplines must I develop to grow as a disciple of Christ?” Think about your daily routine of prayer, work and rest.

ETERNAL REST Please pray for the happy repose of the souls of

RAYMOND FRANCIS (RAY) CULLINANE who died on 4th June 2020. May he Rest In Peace and Rise to Eternal Glory.

We extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to Marion, James and David The funeral service will take place on Tuesday 23rd June in

Coychurch Crematorium with family members only. A Memorial Mass will be held in the Church at a later date.

Please pray for the following who request your prayers: Tom McNally, Yvonne Harris, Maria Morgan, Elizabeth, Marianne Davey, Joan Whitton, Ian Beverley, Gretta Cooper, Thea Boyd, Maisie Moyes, Dick Barnicott, Nick McKenna,

Nicole Price, Simon Stanton, Sue Stanton, Shirley Garmston, Anne Hogg, Ann Francis,

Rosina Bruen. MAY THEY BE TOUCHED BY GOD’S HEALING HAND.

‘The Word was made flesh and lived among us; to all who did accept him he gave power to become children of God.’

(Gospel acclamation Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time)

THE HOLY FATHER’S INTENTION FOR JUNE: We pray that those who suffer may find their way in life, allowing themselves to be touched by the Heart of Jesus.

From Fr. Mark….. “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body”

My Dear Parish Family, As we reflect on this weekend’s readings we turn our thoughts to the strange phenomenon of persecution: throughout the history of mankind, the truth has been a commodity that often leads to persecution: The prophets of the Old Testament were attacked because of their message, as was the Lord Jesus himself. For his followers, the same may be true. In the First Reading the prophet Jeremiah is acutely aware of the terror around him. His former friends are intent on exacting revenge but despite his anxiety he declares “The Lord is at my side, a mighty hero; my opponents will stumble.” This should give us assurance in our own lives to know that even a great prophet like Jeremiah had bad days but continued to look up to the Lord. In the Gospel, Jesus, who was raised on the Scriptures in the home of Mary & Joseph is ultimately aware of the prophet Jeremiah when he says to us; ‘do not be afraid of those who kill the body.’ How is it possible for us to live like this? The truth is, change takes time, and we have to keep working at it. We have to keep checking our thoughts, examining our motives, and holding our tongues until we develop the virtues that mirror Jesus’ perfect, unconditional love. We also have to stay close to the Lord so that his love continues to shape our hearts. We must remember that the truth of the Gospel comes from the Father in heaven who knows us and values us as ‘every hair on our head has been counted’ so we can be confirmed in our mission to witness to the truth, not fearing those who merely kill the body. As we continue to adhere to the rules and regulations set out by the Welsh Government let us remember Jeremiah who experienced far more good days than bad days because he never gave up, and neither should we. Take heart from St John the evangelist who reminds us ‘perfect love casts out fear’ and earnestly pray, knowing God loves us in Christ, that we will overcome these testing times and soon begin to live again. May I take this opportunity to convey my gratitude to those who have offered their services as stewards for the reopening of the Church for private prayer. Work continues as we try to implement the health and safety procedures, however as I have stated before we have a duty of care and the churches will only reopen if it is viable to do so and when it is safe for all. Further volunteers, who meet the criteria, are welcome to send their details to the Parish Office. In the meantime... if you have the means to do so, please join me on Facebook for:- livestreaming of Mass, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament on a Wednesday for 30 minutes after Mass and on a Friday afternoon at 3pm to reflect on the Passion and Death of Jesus. Please don’t forget KEEP THE FAITH “The last things: Purgatory” on SUNDAY at 9.30pm. Anyone interested, please contact me by email or Facebook Messenger for the link to join Zoom. I have also set-up a faith group for young people ‘St. John Paul II Faith Group’ named after the Saint who loved young people; primarily for the youth but open to all ages including adults. We “virtually meet” on Wednesday at 9.30pm for 1hr of Catechesis from the YouCat Catechism, followed by Taize prayer and a question & answer time The current theme is ‘GOD.’ And finally to all our Father’s today “GOD BLESS YOU ON THIS FATHER’S DAY”
