1) I installed a rear kit on my pickup truck and it’s almost touching the axle. The installation instructions indicate that I need a 1” gap. What do I do?

Remove the spacer supplied in the assembly. If you have already done this, or if there is no spacerin the kit, then take the vehicle out for a test drive. Often the Aeon® spring may be in contact with noadverse ride quality (on vehicles with a partial load,or an older suspension). If the ride quality is poor, contact:

2) I installed a rear kit on my pickup truck and there is more than 2 inches of gap between the rubber spring and the axle. Is this OK?

Ideally you want to adjust the rubber spring to within a gap of about 1 inch. In most cases, this can bedone with a spacer included in the suspension enhancement system. If you have already installed everything included withthe kit, contact the seller of the product or Timbrencustomer service for a quick solution to this issue. (See page 16 for more information.)

3) The capacity rating of the SES kit seems awfully high. I am sure that I need less capacity for my application.What do you recommend for my needs?

The capacity rating of the suspension enhancementsystem is based on the nominal capacity of the rubbersprings. The real question you seem to be asking is“Will this give me a rough ride?” The products progressive spring rate provides superbride quality both empty and loaded. With a light load,the rubber spring has lots of travel and the ride iscushioned by the hollow rubber spring. When cornering, swerving, or in high wind situations,the improved stability offers great performance andpeace of mind.

4) I’m experiencing a rough ride when my vehicle is unloaded. Can that be fixed?

If you have installed the Timbren SES - SuspensionEnhancement System, and find that the vehicle ridequality is poor when empty, measure the gap betweenthe rubber spring and the axle. (See question andanswer 1 for further details and solutions.)

5) The rubber spring is touching the axle all the time.Won’t that hurt the axle?

Not at all. The entire weight of the vehicle’s payloadnormally contacts the axle at the point underthe leaf springs.The rubber spring point of contact on the axle ofa loaded truck is actually secondary.By adding this secondary point of contact we arereducing the stress on the axle by spreading outthe load to four points instead of two.As well the progressive spring rate provides a softuptake of the load rather than the sudden stop,again providing a good ride with reduced stress.

6) I have a 1985 motor home with a badlysagging rear suspension. Will your SES Suspension Enhancement System help?

Our suspension system will certainly help, but oursystems are designed to work in conjunction with asuspension that is in good condition. We recommend that the motor home be inspected bya suspension specialist to ensure the suspension is ingood condition prior to installing our system.

7) Can I haul more weight on my truck if I install your SES Suspension Enhancement System?

You cannot exceed the manufacturer’s axle rating or GVW rating of the vehicle. Our suspension enhancement system will greatly enhance the performance of a heavily loaded vehicle. You can expect the vehicle to have reduced sag, and improved roll stability.

VARIABLES THAT AFFECT THE PERFORMANCEOF AEON® HOLLOW RUBBER SPRINGS

There are many variables that will affect the performance out-put of the Aeon® Hollow Rubber Spring.

For example, the friction co-efficient of the spring supportmember is an important ingredient. A support surface with afriction co-efficient similar to sandpaper will greatly enhanceperformance compared to a wet or slippery surface.

Air spring or steel spring deflections can be very predictable; however, Aeon® Hollow Rubber Springs are progressive and can be altered by many outside inputssuch as spring mounting or support design, spring supportsurface friction, frequency and operating temperature.

Rubber springs also take a set after a few cycles to maximum deflection. This can alter the unladen height by approximately 5%. All deflection curves we provide arebased on springs cycled to induce spring set.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

For more than 40 years, Aeon® Hollow Rubber Springs have been used throughout the world as a solesuspension, and an effective and reliable method to improve suspension performance.

Supplemental Applications: Aeon® Hollow Rubber Springs used as a supplement to conventional leaf springs, coil springs, torsionbars or air springs do not affect the empty ride. The Aeon® Spring is gradually brought into operationwhen the load is applied, and increases in proportion to the weight. The initial take up is very smooth asthe spring rate increases progressively. This results in greatly improved ride quality and load handling, greater roll stability and longer spring life.

Sole Suspension Applications:Aeon® Hollow Rubber Springs used in sole suspension applications provide high performance per unitweight. Manufacturers of agricultural equipment, looking for the most durable and economical suspension with the technical characteristics of metal springs, are specifying Aeon® Hollow RubberSprings. Rubber spring suspensions can withstand severe loads at maximum capacity without bottom-ing out. This greatly reduces shock transmitted to the frame and reduces wear and tear. Agriculturalequipment manufacturers have discovered that Aeon® Hollow Rubber Springs are practically indestructible even in the most adverse conditions.

Vibration Isolation:Agricultural equipment manufacturers specify Aeon® Hollow Rubber Springs as vibration isolators and noise dumpers. Our engineering and design team will recommend current designs, or they willdevelop new rubber springs to meet your requirements.

Other ApplicationsThe most common use of Aeon® springs is for all sizes of trucks, vans and SUV’s. They are also usedextensively on vehicles which require reliable and durable spring mechanisms such as on military, mining, and forestry vehicles.

All TIMBREN SES (Suspension EnhancementSystems) are designed to provide maximum performance for stock suspensions in good condition. To achieve optimum performance,take note of the following during installation:

- Suspensions that have been modified mayrequire adjustments to the TIMBREN SES.

- Make sure that there is adequate clearance for the AEON rubber spring to expand completely under deflection.

- When drilling or welding the vehicle chassis frame rails, always follow the manfactuer’srecommended procedure.

- Do not exceed the manufacturer’s recom-mended gross vehicle weight (G.V.W.R.) or axle rating (G.A.W.R.).

CAUTION

THE BEST WARRANTY IN THE INDUSTRYTIMBREN SES - Suspension Enhancement Systems are warranted against defects in material and workmanship, under normal use and service, for the life of the vehicle onwhich the kit was originally installed. The warranty is not transferable and proof ofpurchase is required. The warranty is limited to the replacement of the failed part. TIMBREN will not be responsible for any labour or freight charges involved in thereplacement of any product. TIMBREN shall be entitled to make its own inspection todetermine the validity of the warranty claim. TIMBREN shall not be liable nor warrantthe product in the event of alteration, misuse, overload, negligence or damage caused by others.

Note: Springs used by O.E.M. customers are not covered by this warranty. Details ofspecific guarantees of product quality and performance for O.E.M. customers are available from Customer Service.
