How do LIS Abiotic Factors

affect Plant/Animal Adaptations?

Salinity• In a salt marsh, salt tends to concentrate as

the water evaporates during low tide.

• Glasswort – stores water (moisture) in leaves or stems - so the plant does not dry out and die. (tastes salty)

levels are too high or too low fish have the ability to move to better suited conditions

• Barnacles have ability to attach themselves to rocks or shells in order to “hold on”

ribbed blades so they can catch sand blown by the wind, causing it to fall to the base of the plant, creating its own “dune”. (Holding the grass in place)

Block A:D= M/V D= 50g/100ml D = .5g/mlBlock A – will float because it is less dense than water which has a density of 1g/ml

Block B:D=M/V D = 10g/5ml D= 2g/mlBlock B – will sink because it is more dense that water which has a density of 1g/ml
