Those Present:
Ed Gebhart Neil Hayes
Greg Albright Nancy Albright
Ray Kissinger Sis Rimer
Judy Nesselroad Val Waibel
Bob Brabbs Matt Hoffman
Tony Brown Lisa Gebhart
Joyce Magly
Ed Gebhart opened the meeting with prayer at 7pm.
Ed asked if there were any changes to the minutes from last month. Hearing that there were
none, a motion was made by Greg to accept the minutes as written. Motion was seconded by
Tony. The motion passed.
Old Business No old business to discuss
Treasurers Report
Nancy Albright advised we were in the red last month but YTD we are okay. Linda and Nancy
are calling Waltz Business Machines about the new copier. They are building it to fit our needs.
We will have a contract with them.
Finance Report
Bob Brabbs reported he has been thinking about next year's pledge campaign. Pastor Val added
that she is looking into using "Shiny Gods: Finding Freedom From Things That Distract Us" by
Rev. Dr. Michael Slaughter. The campaign will begin October 25 and go through November 15
which will be consecration Sunday.
Trustees
Matt Hoffman reported that we will proceed with the tree work using the $2,000.00 allocated last
month. The work will be completed by professionals.
He has received an estimate for plaster at the back of the parlor of $800.00. The professionals
advised that the plaster damage is due to our faulty windows which allow moisture to enter. Matt
asked if the work could be done before homecoming but added that the plaster may not be ready
for painting before homecoming. He then made a motion that Leadership Team allocate $800.00
for plaster work in the parlor. The work will be done by a professional. Sis Rimer seconded the
motion. The motion carried.
Matt advised that there was a leak in Lisa's office area. Another abandoned toilet flush valve
failed. Lisa noticed while just dripping and it has now been capped. There is yet another one in
Bruce's office side that needs to be capped.
We have received an estimate on a new church fence between the church parking lot and a
residential home. Estimate to tear down the old fence and put up a new one is $4,500.00. We
are required to have that fence by City ordinance and it must be 6 foot tall. Our existing fence
was grandfathered in. Nancy Albright said that we can keep hitting the crisis fund as this is a
capital expense. Matt thinks that we need to commit to replacing the fence next year. We need to
budget for it and for the funds and get it done. Ray suggests that he and Matt take down the old
fence to save money.
The door at the end of the hall only latches at the top, not the bottom. It could result in someone
breaking in. A lock company is coming as this needs to be fixed now.
Matt made a motion that we contact a door lock company for the lower north door to fix it. Greg
Albright seconded the motion. The motion passed.
Matt asked if we had received an estimate on the partition door. Pastor Val advised that that
estimate is $2,700.00. Matt will table that one for now and look further into it.
Greg Albright advised that curtains need to be hung in room 209 before the homecoming.
Melissa Backshider donated the curtains and will get hardware. We will be responsible for
getting the attachment hardware and hanging the curtains. Matt believes that Mike Gossage will
be able to hang the curtains.
Church wide cleaning will be on August 29. There needs to be an announcement made. Linda
Rouse will be asked to put it in the bulletin. Greg Albright advises that we need a list of duties
for the cleaning day in order to achieve the most out of everyone who comes to help.
Ray Kissinger asked about the men's bathroom. Matt said the tile has to come out and be
replaced. Also need to take the sink out and tile under it.
Staff Parish
Neil Hayes advised that we have 2 part-time custodians Glenn and Doug Hammond. Glen is still
on restrictions and will be until at least August 25. Doug is doing an excellent job. We are
addressing Glenn's situation with workers compensation. Staff evaluations begin in September.
Nominations
Pastor Val reported that they would be meeting again this Wednesday. The inventory has been
completed. Nancy McCormick has been given names of those interested in music.
Pastors Report
Pastor Val noted that on our goals, Spiritual Outreach and Small Group Ministry are not yet up
and running.
She was thinking of having an open drive through on Ash Wednesday so that people could drive
through the parking lot and receive ashes on their forehead.
She and Greg will be attending a continuing education workshop on the 14th of September for 2
days.
Pastor Val also asked for names of "good eggs" for future use. Several names were suggested to
her.
Children’s Ministries
Lisa Gebhart reported the following:
Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn
from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 NIV)
What’s happening with the Children on the month of July and August with Sunday school,
Pathways and J-Zone and Summer Shine:
Fundraiser for Camp next year- My hope is for the kids to fundraise by selling candy bars
and noisy Sunday. The kids would attend the UMC camp year either the 3 or 5 days. The 3
days is $160.00 (ages 8 to 11) and the 5 days is $295.00 (ages 12-17). The camps are in the
month of June 2016.

help start the kick off to sale candy bars. This will be their kick off day to start a camp fund.
Also speaking a few kids and Abby Brown on her camp experience at Life Camp and we will
show the Camp Wesley UMC video as well. I have one power point slide that can be shown
while we are speaking to the church family.
Update on summer shine and the totals-July 20th to 24th-We had an average of 50 kids
Kindergarten – 6th grade and an average of 20 Teens each day as well. We had a an
awesome time this year and all the teens become role models and step up their game this
year. I am so proud of all the teens and volunteers this year with summer shine. We had a
successful turn out, beautiful weather and lots of help and this was all in Gods’ plan!!

Wednesday, and maybe next year she can help plan the meals and gather all the volunteers.
Homecoming weekend October 10th and 11th-Games, prizes and hopefully a bouncy
house and obstacle course and the fire truck will make its appearance from 3 to 4pm. Also,
I will be giving away the teddy bears along with our postcard that states “Jesus loves you
Beary much” along with our Sunday school and Wednesday night information.
Fall Friends Fest October 23rd- The Fall Friends Fest will be on October 23rd. The lock in
would be to invite the Sunday school kids, Pathways and J-Zone and if the teens could come
help. Each kid will need to bring in can foods for the food pantry. My thinking would be for
a kid to bring a friend on this Friday night. The time would be 6 to 10pm. The kids would
eat, bible lesson, crafts, games, and learn the music songs from Summer Shine on the video.
My hope would be for each kid to bring a friend and maybe after they had a lot of fun, that
friend would come back to church. My plan is to ask a few volunteers to come and help
with bible, craft and help with the kids.

Josh at second service and I am going to invite any third graders from Pathways to our 1st
service to receive their bibles as well.

Missions
Sis Rimer reported that they opened with prayer. The teddy bear ministry is being overseen by
Rita Green and the congregation is responding to it really quite well. The Hamilton Police
advised that whey do not need any more right now and Rita is looking for other places to donate
the bears.
The medicine bottles are also being received quite well and Nancy Risner and Ray Kissinger
have taken several large bags to Matthew headquarters.
School supplies will be blessed on the 9th of August during children's time at the first service.
The amount of supplies donated were over $600.00. Sis thanks everyone so much for their
generosity.
Noisy Sunday collection at the end of August will be used for the Ministry Fair and
homecoming.

UMM
Ray Kissinger advised that UMM had a very successful yard sale once again this year making
$1,200.00. Pastor Val suggests that next year we need to think of other things to do on that
weekend as so much traffic goes by the Church. Matt suggests passing out water. One lady took
a tour of the church and a bible and seemed interested in the church and the live streaming.
Greg added that we should make it a larger focus - church wide as an opportunity for spiritual
outreach.
Stephen Ministry
Neil Hayes reported that they have a small group right now. We will again recruit and train with
the Presbyterian Church in the fall. Prospects will be contacted. New members are needed if
Stephen Ministry is to continue in our Church. There is a 2 year commitment when you become
a Stephen Minister and all of ours have well exceeded that commitment. Our Ministry is in
jeopardy if new members are not found. There will be a ministry moment regarding this on
September 6. Pastor Val will be their speaker on meditation at their next meeting.
IT Report
Matt had no report.
Greg advises that he is continuing to train to have full tech teams. They just about have enough.
People are enjoying the work and doing a good job. Soundboard people are still needed. Matt
advised that Four Corners Church has merged and is selling off equipment and cabling,
projectors etc. He is looking into what they have.
Ed asked if there was any new business, none was brought forward.
A motion was made to adjourn by Judy Nesselroad and seconded by Neil Hayes. The motion
passed. The Team ended with prayer at 9:00PM
The next meeting will be September 14, 2015 at 7:00PM.
Respectfully submitted,
