NEWS AND PRODUCIX3 Industry News and Products Industry News New Bell 412 at Robert Packer Hospital Guthrie One, the re- gional helicopter program operated by Robert Packer Hospital (Sayre, Penn.), has taken delivery of a new Bell 412 SP helicopter. The new helicopter is the first hospital-based medically equipped 412 in the north- eastern United States. Key- stone Helicopter Corporation of West Ches- ter, Penn., completed the medical interior and avion- ics equipment configura- tion for the 412, and provides pilots and mainte- nance support for the pro- gram. The hospital staffs the program with their own flight nurses, flight paramedics, communica- tion specialists, and medi- cal staff support. The new helicopter is equipped with on-board liq- uid oxygen equipment, electronic flight instru- ment system (EFIS-50), and color weather radar. The 412 has a range of 400 miles, or three hours flight time without refueling. LIFE FORCE Installs Flite Trek System Through a donation from the Erlanger Medical Center Auxiliary, the Eflanger Medical Center LIFE FORCE program (Chattanooga, Tenn.) has recently installed the Flite Trak computerized flight following system into their Bell 412 helicopter. Increased flight follow- ing and dispatch capabili- ties, along with decreased flight crew workload, are expected from using the sys- tem. The aircraft's position and altitude will be dis- played on a computer-gener- ated map in the program's communications center. The information will be automatically updated every 30 seconds. This pamphlet has become the standard for providing information and guidance to user agencies for conducting safe operations around helicopters and establishing safe landing sites. The pamphlet addresses such issues as: Selecting an on- scene LZ, wind direction and touchdown area, per- sonnel safety and night landing, ground guide, assisting the crew, and general helicopter safety rules. Designed as a teaching aid, the pamphlet is ideal for conducting classes for user agencies.
