    Lieutenant Governor received by Her Majesty The Queen

    Toronto, February 17, 2014. The Hon. Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, was received today by Her Majesty The Queen during a private audience at Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty met with Her Honour for 20 minutes. It is customary for representatives of the Crown in Canada to meet with The Queen during their first year in office. A photo taken after the audience is available on the Lieutenant Governors website. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada, acceded to the Throne on February 6, 1952, and has now reigned as Canadas Sovereign for over 63 years. Her Honour the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, was sworn in as Ontarios 29th Lieutenant Governor on September 23, 2014.
