Lewis Immersibles simply keep on delivering dependable cleaning power day after day, month after month, year after year. The Immersible advantage Lewis Ultrasonic Cleaners are stainless steel boxes or “cans: which have a radiating surface called a diaphragm. Brazed to the inside of this surface are powerful transducers which produce ultrasonic frequency energy. When immersed in a liquid-filled tank, the pressure waves generated by the transducers flex the diaphragm plate causing cavitation in the liquid. Cavitation performs the powerful scrubbing action inherent in the ultrasonic cleaning process. Immersibles allow users to upgrade less effective cleaning systems without the expense of replacing configuration, including bottom or side mounting. Immersibles work nicely in large tanks, especially when mounted in tandem. Finally, they are safe in explosive environments and afford flexibility in process planning techniques. Standard Features • Transducers are not crystals. They are magnetostrictive nickel alloy units permanently silver-brazed to a heavy 316L stainless steel plate diaphragm. • Transducers are guaranteed for ten years not to fail or degrade, In fact, not one has ever failed. • Transducers are designed for heavy-duty continuous performance. They withstand abuse and high temperature operation. • Generators are reliable and not load sensitive, built to deliver years of proven service. • Immersible transducers can be installed in opposing configurations for high intensity cleaning applications. • For difficult cleaning situations. Stoelting offers the ultimate in high-density cleaning with opposed transducer systems operating at differing frequencies (i.e. 16kHz and 20kHz). Immersible Systemstypical Mounting Positions

High Power ApplicationsExceptionally high power levels in extremely large tanks can be achieved by using rack-mounted units. This illustration shows 20 immersibles mounted against one wall of a large tank. The generatorsdrivingthisconfigurationdeliver80,000wattsofpower.For even higher power levels. Lewis immersible transducers can be rack-mounted on all four walls.

The true versatility of Lewis Immersible Transducers is reflected in the variety of ways they can be used in a tank. Positions may be combined to concentrate ultrasonic energyinonearea.Andwhiletypicalinstallationsarefixedwiththeworkbeinglocatedin front, immersibles may also be mounted on moving gantrys and passed over or in front of a stationary component.

Bottom mounting

Thisisthetraditionalimmersiblemountingconfigurationanditprovides thorough cleaning throughout the tank. Mounting tab are provided on all Lewis immersible units to allow for bolting in place.

EnD mounting

Thisconfigurationpermitstheuseofdifferingfrequencies in opposition to one another. The result is an even more vigorous cleaning action. This positioning is especially suitable for large components.

SiDE mounting

The versatile nature of immersibles stems from the fact that theydonotneedtobemountedinanystandardconfiguration. For example, sidewall positioning provides excellent cleaning capabilities and allows the units to be removed easily for installation in other tanks. This mounting position also permits the useofreflectorsontheoppositewallwhenextracleaningactionis required.
