English Level 6 (Equivalent to B2 in CEFR)

Course Objectives

In this level, you will learn the following topics: ‐ Understand texts within my field of interest ‐ Initiate, maintain and end discourse naturally ‐ Grasp the content and significance of United Nations’ sustainable

development goals 2030 ‐ Write about SDGS ‐ Communicate about SDGs ‐ Report topics connected to United Nation’s Sustainable Development

Goals (SDGs) 2030  

Target Audience

Students whose placement test is at level 6 and students who completed English Level 5.

48 hours of lessons (3 hours per week for 16 weeks) 3 hours of assessment

‐ Spark a conversation about the SDGs. ‐ Listen to different lectures associated with SDGs ‐ Talk about current events/ headlines ‐ Present how to apply SDGs to daily lives ‐ Conduct interviews ‐ Listen and summarize stories from UN radio/ current events channels ‐ Word stress/ intonation/different kinds of accents/ dialects

Reading

‐ Reading comprehension topics to be covered from the textbook: ‐ The World of Work ‐ Just imagine! ‐ Relationships ‐ Obsessions ‐ Tell me about it! ‐ Life’s great events!

‐ Read about the SDGs and how to make the world a better place by using

the SDGs as guidelines.

Writing

‐ Write /research about SGDs. ‐ Produce official emails and letters. ‐ Write narrative, persuasive and informative essays. ‐ Write short/long description. ‐ Write a CV. ‐ Write a bibliography.

Assessment criteria

‐ Written test: 60% ‐ Oral test: 40% ‐ Pass mark : 60%
