Communication and Clarification to AllParishes

(Jan. 13, 2011) - A recent article published by theGannett News Service, originally appearing in theAppleton Post-Crescent and Green Bay Press-Gazette, implied that the Catholic Diocese of GreenBay might be contemplating a bankruptcy filing. Inresponse to that unfounded speculation, theD¡ocese issues the following statement:

"The Diocese of Green Bay is currently in a solidoperating f¡nancial position and ¡s not planning tofile for bankruptcy protection. In Fact, the Dioceseof Green Bay has no liability judgments againstit.

"The Diocese of Green Bay continues to implementa strong/ ethical program of financial stewardship, and we have operated with a balanced budget, even during difficult econom¡c times. Our currentfinancial status is stable and we continue tooperate our various diocesan offices with adisciplined approach to ourannual budget.

"Since 2008 the Diocese of Green Bay has beeninvolved in litigation in Outagamie County,Wisconsin and Clark County, Nevada. During thattime, our objective has not wavered: get to thetruth of the matter and let the truth Drevail. Wewill continue to fight the allegations of fraudagainst Bishop Wycislo because the allegations are

false. We are confident that the truth will bearticulated and the truth willbring justice.

"The suggestion in the articles appearing in thePost-Crescent and Press-Gazette that the Dioceseof Green Bay might use a potential bankruptcyfiling as a legal tactic to withhold information ispure conjecture by the reporter with no basis infact. In fact, we have already turned over 2,400pages of documents, provided hours of depositiontime, and also answered the interrooatoriesrequested of us.

"Since these two matters are currently ¡n litigation,it is not advisable to comment further. We trust inthe justice system of our courts and trust in God'sprovidence to send the Holy Sp¡rit to ensure thattruth and justice will prevail."
