Let me tell you what my granddaughter Emily did last week-end:

Ruby & I were at our son's for the week-end and Emily asked me to read her a book. Since she hadn't selected one herself, I chose a Rudyard Kipling story which I had begun reading to her a few months previously. I had discontinued the story then as it began to speak in a very negative, derogatory manner about the madness (as Kipling termed it) of the jackal. I announced my displeasure with the writing to my family. As Emily was playing in her toy box, I assumed she wasn't listening.Last week-end as I began the story again, Emily was at her toy box silently playing once more. As I came to the part where Kipling was reflecting the ignorance of the times against mental illness, Emily got up from her toy box, walked over to me and quietly closing the book, sat it down, and gave me a lovely big hug! Only a dullard could conclude that this was a coincidence. My granddaughter is 15 months old.

David Young

Shelley and David were having a discussion on mania. Shelley, without a trace of malice said, "I always thought I would like just a touch ofmania!"John w., who was just passing by, exclaimed, "I have good news for you Shelley, your wish has been granted!"
