Goals for the class:

• To learn new vocabulary including idioms• To improve your pronunciation• To improve your listening skills. • To improve your spoken English so that you

can effectively communicate in English

Requirements:

• Attendance: Attendance is required! An unexcused absence is a 2 point deduction

from your final grade An excused absence is a 1 point deduction

(you must have an official excuse note)• Bring your textbook, notebook, pen to every

class

Grading breakdown:

• Attendance: 10%• Homework: 5%• Classwork: 35% (this is made up of 4 separate

activities that will be done in class and class participation)

• Midterm Examination: 25%• Final Examination: 25%• Total: 100%

• Next week we will start doing impromptu stories• Be ready to share for 1-4 minutes about an event in

your life• Each week, 6 students will share. You will pick out a

random question before break time and have 10 minutes to prepare

• Topics included will be: a childhood memory, a place you’ve visited, a special holiday you celebrated, something you did with your best friend
