LESSON PLAN MATHEMATICS FORM 1

Time : 80 minutes
: 7.40 am – 9.00 am
Number of students : 30
Subject : Mathematics
Learning Area : Perimeter and Area
Learning Objectives : 1. Understand the concept of perimeter to solve problems.
2. Understand the concept of area of rectangle to solve problems.
Learning Outcomes : At the end of the lesson students are able :
1. Identify the perimeter of a region.2. Find the perimeter of a region enclosed by straight lines.3. Estimate the area of a shape.4. Find the area of a rectangle.5. Solve problem involving perimeters and areas.
Strategy of Teaching : Collaborative Learning and Cooperative (Student Center)
Prior knowledge : The students have already learnt:
a) The shape of rectangles either square or rectangular.b) The way of multiplication and addition.
Moral Values : a) Respect each other.
b) Helpful for solving any questions.
c) Confident when answering teacher’s question.
d) Honest when teacher ask students to complete the task.
e) Respectful while teacher give an explanation and ask questions.

Read ‘doa’ Teacher asks one of the students to recite the ‘doa’.

Teacher show some buildings using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Teacher show a house and ask student.- What are they see?- Before the house is
built, what must be done to the architect?
Teacher guides the students to answer the question until they can relate with the topic.
Students watch the examples that the teacher show.
Students think the question that given from the teacher and give the correct answer.

Step 2( 15 minutes )
Teacher wants the student do activity by using perimeter’s concept.
Teacher wants the student take two items at surrounding in their class and apply perimeter’s concept.
Teacher asks student
Students take two items which close with them.
Students measure the perimeter of the two items.

Teacher explains to the students about area.
Teacher use Power Point :- Explain what is area
of rectangle- How to estimate the

Step 4(10 minutes )
Teacher wants the students do activity about the estimation area of shapes.
Teacher wants the students form 5 groups and take a walk around the school.
Teacher give a list of items that they must estimate the area by using graph paper.The items:- A piece of filter
paper- A leaf- A flower petal- A compact disc
Students build their group and find the items around the school.
Students estimate the area of the things by using graph paper.
