2 Heavenly Father will Protect You 7

I Know that My Savior Loves Me

Now I am here in a beautiful place, Learning the teachings of Jesus. Parents and teachers will help guide the way, Lighting my path ev’ry day. Wrapped in the arms of my Savior’s love, I feel His gentle touch. Living each day, I will follow His way, Home to my Father above. I know He lives! I will follow faithfully. My heart I give to Him. I know that my Savior loves me.

Tami Jeppson Creamer and Derena Bell, “I Know That My Savior Loves Me,” Friend, Oct 2002, 46–47

1. A long time ago in a beautiful place,

Children were gathered ’round Jesus.

He blessed and taught as they felt of His love.

Each saw the tears on His face.

The love that He felt for His little ones

I know He feels for me.

I did not touch Him or sit on His knee,

Yet, Jesus is real to me.

Chorus

I know He lives!

I will follow faithfully.

My heart I give to Him.

I know that my Savior loves me.

2. Now I am here in a beautiful place,

Learning the teachings of Jesus.

Parents and teachers will help guide the way,

Just as Heavenly Father loved and watched over Jesus Christ when he was on the earth, Heavenly Father also loves and watches over each of us.

Always pray to Heavenly Father and ask for his protecting care and he will protect you.

Away in a Manger

1. Away in a manger, no crib for his bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down his sweet head; The stars in the heavens looked down where he lay, The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.

2. The cattle are lowing, the poor baby wakes; But little Lord Jesus, no crying he makes. I love thee, Lord Jesus; look down from the sky And stay by my cradle till morning is nigh.

3. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask thee to stay Close by me forever, and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in thy tender care, And fit us for heaven, to live with thee there.

Chorus Asleep, asleep, asleep, asleep, asleep the Savior in a stall! Asleep, asleep, asleep, asleep, asleep the Lord of all.

Matthew 2: 1-20 1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled… 8 And he sent [the wise men] to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. 9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. 10 When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. 11 ¶ And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. 12 And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way. 13 And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. 14 When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: 15 And was there until the death of Herod… 19 ¶ But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a adream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the aland of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.

“If I had a bad dream in the night when I was young, I would awaken and call out, ‘Mother, are you there?’ Since mother’s room was next to mine, she would hear me and answer quickly, ‘Yes, Son, I’m here.’

“Years later when I left for a mission to England, my mother reminded me that she wouldn’t be there to answer when I called but that our Heavenly Father would always be there.

“Many times on my mission and throughout my life I have called out: ‘Father, are you there?’ … Always, I have received an answer” (in Joleen Meredith, “Friend to Friend,” Friend, Aug. 1975, p. 7).

Heavenly Father may not talk to us out loud, but he is always watching over us. Sometimes he helps us by giving us peaceful feelings or by putting ideas into our minds.

David O’McKay as a Boy

“One night while his father was gone, David … heard noises around the house and felt sure there were burglars. He knew his mother would be frightened too if she heard [the noises], and he hoped that she would not. As he lay there wide awake, … he decided to do what his parents had taught him to do—pray. He had always said his prayers kneeling at his bedside, so he felt that now too he must get out of bed and kneel down to pray. Climbing out of bed was a terrible test; it took all his strength and willpower because he was so frightened. But he did it! “As he knelt down by the side of the bed, he prayed earnestly and with real faith. Then, just as clearly as one person speaks aloud to another, he heard a voice say to him, ‘Don’t be afraid. Nothing will hurt you.’ David then climbed back into bed and fell fast asleep” (Marie F. Felt, “David: A Boy of Promise,” Instructor, Sept. 1969, p. 330).

Each of us is a child of Heavenly Father. He watches over us just as he watched over Jesus. When we obey his commandments and ask for his help, Heavenly Father will help us.

King Herod told the Wise Men that he wanted to

worship, or show love for, the Christ child (Jesus). But

King Herod really meant to harm Jesus. Heavenly Father

protected Jesus by telling the Wise Men not to go back to

King Herod.
