Fræna municipality (10 000 inhabitants) covers most of the Romsdal peninsula onto Hustadvika and is Molde's neighboring municipality.

Fræna is the largest rural municipality in the county, and agriculture and fihing is an important industrial sector.

Fræna municipality has many fine outdoor recreation and natural areas. Hiking on Skaret Tourist center is unique with excellent conditions for summer and winter activities.

A trip to the lively fishing village of Bud, with a visit to Ergan coastal fort, or the island of Bjørnsund, and further along the coastline of Hustadvika up to the Atlantic Road are the most popular excursions when visiting Fræna.

All pupils have the right to 3 years of upper secondary education and training leading up to: admission to higher education or vocational qualifications

Pupils in vocational education can achieve admission to higher education by taking a supplementary programme for general studies

Pratice-based training: 1. year 6 lessons pr week 2. year 9 lessons pr week Purpose of the subject is to give pupils the

opportunity to gain experience with the content, tasks and working methods that characterize the different professions within the education programs

In addition during the 2. year: 6 weeks of work placements

In-depth study project (PFO):

If there are not enough in-service training placements in companies, the county authorities are obliged to offer a 3. year in school – 3TØ (building and construction)

Leads to the same craft- and journeyman’s certificate.

In-service training at school:

Construction machine repairman: 2 + 1 Two years at school + a third year with combined school and in-

service training 2 days pr week at school and 3 days pr week

in-service training in a company 3 AR

Special way to craft’s certificate:

TAF One week at school and one week in-service

training in a company 4 years (2years at school and 2 years

apprenticeship with pay)

Leads to both admission to higher education and a craft’s certificate

The Knowledge Promotion:
