BIRTH

Born on April 15,1452; in Vinci Italy.

Parents are Ser Piero and Caterina.

Father took custody shortly after birth, mother married someone else.

GROWING UPGrew up with his father most of his early life.

Leonardo had access to scholarly texts owned by family and friends.

Exposed to Vinci longstanding painting traditions.

GROWING UPAt fifteen his father apprenticed him to the

renowned workshop of Andrea del Verrochio. Even as an apprenticed Leonardo

demonstrated his talents.One of Leonardo’s first big breaks was to

paint an angle in Verrochio’s Baptism of Christ.

GROWING UP

Leonardo was a better painter than his master.

Leonardo was so good that he made his master resolve and never paint again.

Leonardo stayed at Verrochio’s workshop until 1477.

His worked covered four main things; architecture, painting, elements of mechanics, and human anatomy.

He clearly illustrated his studies in his notebook.
