out of the park,” Bow-erman said. “Kelly spoke on intentional prayer and expecting an answer and Stacy spoke on Daniel’s prayer from Chapter 9 in the Book of Daniel.

“Both were uplift-ing and inspiring.”

Other participants in the men’s and women’s programs included: State Sen. Darcy Jech of King-fisher and State Sen. A.J. Griffin of Guth-rie, who led the invo-cation and blessing and flag salute; State Rep. Mike Sanders and Pastor Debbie Burpo, who led the prayer for the na-tion; Brent Anderson and Kristin Burpo, who led praise and worship and “God Bless America,” and

Pastor Terry Payne and Bowerman who offered a closing.

Karen Kochenow-er assisted Bower-man in coordinating prayer day activities.

Harold Drake also provided video sup-port at both events.

The local activities were part of the 66th annual National Day of Prayer, which is de-creed by presidential proclamation as a day in which the people of the U.S. can turn to God in prayer and meditation at church-es, in groups and as individuals.

The theme for this year’s National Day of Prayer was “For Your Great Name’s Sake: Hear Us. For-give Us. Heal Us.”

time establish a strong foundation and longterm strategy as we continue to advance forward,” General Manager and CEO Richard Ruhl said.

In 2016, the cooperative and its subsidiaries invested about $40 million to con-struct, upgrade and expand its networks, products and services.

The new FCC order di-rected the commission to take necessary steps to ex-tend broadband service to more than 800,000 people in rural, high cost areas.

Under the terms of the or-der, Pioneer Telephone will be in line for nearly $126 million in additional fund-ing over the next 10 years to serve nearly 19,000 rural lo-cations which currently are without broadband service.

“The additional dollars, when used in conjunction with our existing capital buildout dollars, will sub-stantially increase our an-nual fiber optic construction goals for the next 10 years to a total amount that could easily exceed $200 million

over the next decade,” Ruhl said. “We applaud the FCC in release of the final order.”

Ruhl also recognized the cooperative’s 575 em-ployees for their hard work and dedication, along with the other members of the management team – Jim Eaton, vice president of finance and administration; David Post, vice president of

human resources and legal; Jerry Kadavy, vice president of network operations, and Kim Grellner, vice presi-dent marketing, sales and service.

But the annual meeting wasn’t all seriousness. The event included gifts, bingo, food, more than $12,000 in prizes and entertainment by Darci Farmer of Edmond, a

ventriloquist who made her national debut on “Little Big Shots” with Steve Harvey.

Door prize winners in-cluded Kathryn Sickler, a laptop computer; Dennis and Karen Hubbard, a 50-inch TV; Dawn Pappe, an iPhone 7 Plus; Rey Greb, an iPhone 7; Herb Crithcfield, an iPad mini, and Dick Lo-renz, a Beats Pill package.

wheat harvests and a strong U.S. dollar have contributed to holding crop prices down, it was reported at the state meeting.

Larger acres of wheat in the county have been targeted for graze-off this year, according to indications with many fields still holding substantial numbers of stocker cattle.

Increasing acreage also is being directed to summer crops.

Prospects for the wheat crop seemed bleak earlier be-fore April rains rejuvenated plants.

More than 15 inches of rain fell locally in April, compared to the historical average of 3.15 inches for the month.

While the heavy rains created flooding and disease problems, fields perked up with sunshine and mostly clear weather during the past week and appeared to be sub-tly turning color this week as harvest approaches.

Goode reported he did not have a valid driver’s license and pas-sengers confirmed there was no current insurance on the ve-

hicle, according to the report. Dispatch confirmed Goode to have two active warrants out of Cleveland and Oklahoma Counties. Goode was taken into custody and transported to Kingfisher County Jail by Albers for two warrants and operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

April 19, 7:45 a.m. – Officer David Catron responded to a call reporting a person who pumped fuel, but did not pay for it. The suspect’s vehicle was located and the driver of the vehicle was located.
