Article 1 of the General Regulations on Committees reads as follows : nl. Committees shall continue for the period necessitated by the character of their task. 2. If a committee hag not met for two consecutive years, the Council of the League of Nations shall consider whether this committee should continue in existence. To this end, the Secretary-General shall communicate to the Council at its January session a complete list of committees, at the same time indicating any which are in this position. This rule shall, of course, not apply if the * statutes of the committee give it a permanent character." In accordance with this article, the Secretary-General has the honour to communicate to the Council a list of Committees showing their present composition. Note by the Secretary-General.

Article 1 of the General Regulations on Committees

reads as follows :

Note: An Advisory Committee was set up by the Assembly in1934 for the settlement of the dispute between Bolivia and Paraguay. By a telegram dated July 21st 1938, the Argentine Minister for Foreign Affairs, President of the Peace Conference of Buenos Aires, annouced that Bolivia and Paraguay had on that day signed a Treaty of Peace and Friendship and on Frontier Questions which brought their disputes to an end. After hearing the declarations of the representatives of the Argentine, Bolivia and other Members of the League, the Assembly on September 21st 1938, through its President, expressed its gratification that a settlement had been reached.
