RoleoftheOA:TheLeadershipTeamprovidessignificantguidancetoOrientationAdvisors,withtheuniqueopportunitytoimpactpeersandincomingstudentssimultaneously.TheLeadershipTeamwillservealongwithNew Student Services (NSS) stafftocarryoutthemissionofNSS.
ConditionsofEmployment|Applicantsmust:- HaveservedasanOA- Beafull-timeundergraduatestudentduringthefallsemesterof2017- Maintaina2.5cumulativeGPA- Haveandmaintaingoodacademicandjudicialstandingwiththeuniversity- ParticipateinEDP369Kleadershipcourse(Spring2018)- Attendbi-weeklymeetingsduringthespringsemester- Consistentlyexhibitaprofessionalandsupportiveattitudewhenworkingwithfaculty,staff,studentsand
campusstakeholdersduringprobationaryandtrainingperiods- Notenrollinsummerclassesduring1stsessionofsummerterm(mustbediscussedwithsupervisorinadvanceif
infinalsemestertowardsgraduating,etc.)- Notbeemployedwithanotheron-campuspositionduringOAemploymentperiod(May21–July17,2018)- BeeligibletoworkintheU.S.andsuccessfullycompleteabackgroundcheckifrequiredtobecomeauniversity

- Provideleadershipduringorientationsessions,potentiallyservingaspointofcontactforOAsduringduty,andotherdutiesasassigned
- Bewillingtoadjustwork,academiccoursework,andlivingarrangementstomeettheneedsoforientationemployment(May21–July20,2018)
RequiredSkills&Qualifications:SometraitsthatdescribeaneffectiveLeadershipTeammemberare:Leader,passionforOrientation,organized,strategic,adaptable,responsible,collaborativeteamplayer
LeadershipTeammembersshouldhaveoneyearofexperienceasanOrientationAdvisorand:- Abilitytocommunicateeffectivelywithstudents,families,universitycommunity,colleagues,&supervisors- Abilitytogiveandreceivecriticalperformancefeedbackandworkwithpeersandsupervisorstoimprove- Experiencefacilitatingsmallgroupswithdesiretoadvanceandimproveskillsinthisarea- Interest/understandingofissuesrelatedtocollegetransition- DesiretoserveasanambassadorforTheUniversityofTexasatAustin
- Abilitytobereliable,flexible,responsible,confidentandwillingtolearnabouttheUTcommunity

LeadershipTeammemberswill:- AttendandfullyparticipateinLeadershipTeamretreat(TBD,January2018)- ParticipateinEDP369Kleadershipcourse- Attendandfullyparticipateintrainingretreatsandworkshops,includingleadingteambuilding- LiveoncampusfromMay20-July17,2018- Performassigneddutieswithenthusiasmanddisplayawillingnesstohelp- CommunicateeffectivelywithNSSStaffaboutcommitteeneedsandconcerns
Training:LeadershipTeammembersareexpectedtoparticipateinthefollowingtraining:
- EDP369K(selectedclassdiscussions,academictraining,etc.),tentativelyscheduledforSpring2018,T/Th,3:30-5pm
- OALeadershipTeamRetreat,OARetreat(s),Workshop(May21-June3,2018)
Compensation:Fortheirdedicatedservicetotheuniversity,andbeginningonMay21,OAswillreceive:
- Hourlyrate,startingat$8.30for1styearorientationadvisorsandincreasingwitheachyearandlevelofresponsibility
- OncampushousingthroughJuly17,2018- BevoBucksandDine-InDollarsstipend
