Our region excels at serving others, so it is only fitting that we focus on volunteers. Efforts such as the Miracle League, Rotary Park and

the push for Interstate 555 reflect the time commitment of the volunteers in our community. A continued commitment to service is vital to the success of and to the cultivation of great leaders.

Volunteering at the Chamber provides a great way to learn more about our community and to meet others. I have been blown away over the past month at the comradery that exists in the Membership Development Committee. Members work well together to accomplish their assigned tasks.

There is a committee for pretty much every area of interest: Agri-Business, ASTATE, Business Network, Government Affairs, Green Business, Technology and Innovations, Transportation and Workforce Development. Pick your area of interest, attend a meeting or event, and hopefully you will be drawn to get involved.

We are fortunate that we have approximately 2000 dedicated Chamber members, over half of whom volunteer hours to the projects of our committees. That means making great things happen on a daily basis! For example, our Goodwill Ambassadors are involved in over 200 grand openings each year…taking time out of their schedules to welcome new members and new residents of the area.

Two Thousand Seventeen (2017) already promises to be an exciting year. Make plans now to go to Little Rock and represent our city amongst our General Assembly, reserve your booth for Business Expo in April, and carve out some time in the spring to join a delegation that represents our community in Washington, D.C.

Watch this publication and social media for other events, as we are committed this year to doing what we can to provide value to our members. As always, please share your comments and suggestions toward that end.

Thanks again to Tony Rampley for a great, and creative, Annual Meeting.

The Jonesboro Unlimited Quality of Life Taskforce is pleased to announce their Warmth Tree project to ‘chase the chill!’ The project will provide cold weather items like mittens, gloves, hats and scarves for those who may especially need them during our winter season. The Warmth Tree will be located on the front lawn of the Jonesboro Public Library for those in need to help themselves. Members of the Quality of Life Taskforce will drape the tree with the warming items during the month of December and invite donations to be delivered to the Chamber.
