Thank you for taking the time to read this booklet. It has been put together to explain our approach to supporting employers while recognising the very particular requirements of the people they employ. Most of my career has been in the private sector but I did get an insight into what the public sector has to offer when I spent a short time working to develop and deliver business support and careers information advice and guidance. That served me well when I was invited to take over as the CEO of the UK manufacturing operations of a Taiwanese electronics manufacturer. Over the next six years I set about putting the business at the heart of its community and developing programmes that improved business processes and demonstrated the competence of everyone who worked at the company. Together we were able to transform the performance on the company so that we could face the challenge of global competition and to become recognised as the first “Innovative Investor in People”. If I was going to get people to recognise the benefits of lifelong learning it was something that I had to embrace myself and I have found a new energy to re-engage with learning that continues today. I had reached a point where I wanted to find a way to support other organisations to benefit from what we at LDR Squared now call the development of “COMPETENT PEOPLE and CAPABLE PROCESSESS”. I am proud of what we have achieved at LDR Squared and our desire to do more. We have become recognised for the effort we put in “up front to truly understand your business” to enable us to provide solutions that are bespoke and offer an equality of opportunity. We have delivered solutions to public and private organisations; manufacturing and service; people with no previous qualifications and those with higher degrees. So I hope you find this booklet of interest and if you want to learn more from us just get in touch. Brian Smith OBE Managing Director [email protected]

Coaching &

Mentoring

There has been a meteoric rise in the number of people presenting themselves as coaches. Although at the moment there is no compulsory requirements for coaches to be accredited there is no doubt

that an Executive Coach who is both accredited and has board level experience is offering many benefits.

Brian Smith OBE FCMI is not only accredited and experienced but he is embarked upon doctoral research into coaching in the workplace. That research has shown the benefits of using an external

Executive Coach to provide coaching services and help design an organisations own coaching programme.

Executive Coaching

The UK needs to improve competitiveness and Foreign Direct Investment has helped significantly but it brings the challenge of benchmarking against other operations. The internal and stakeholder relationships Executives have to manage are complex and not easily shared. We can provide support with the challenges that have an impact on the Executive and their management teams.

How our Executive Coaching can help: as a trusted and experience advisor as a safe place to share difficult

decisions and talk though solutions to complex problems

by providing experienced Board, Executive and Operational Interventions

to facilitate business turnaround by working with existing management team, lenders, stakeholders and investors

by accessing support from our legal partners on corporate, employment and contract law

support cultural change and capacity building by working with HR to implement organisational development plans and/or coaching programmes.

We have been delivering qualifications for over 10 years with coaching and mentoring qualifications complementing the range of Leadership and Management qualifications we also offer. We understand that some training is best performed by external providers, but for training that is

provided in-house, it is essential that those providing the training have the required skills. Our

learning and development training takes learners through the learning cycle and gives them the skills

and knowledge of the ‘science of learning’ and the ‘craft of teaching’.

In addition to our wide range of accredited courses we offer non accredited courses to meet

customer demand. Below are a selection of our courses and facilitated events.

In 2010 we launched a range of Bitesize courses in response to customer expectations. These 2

hour sessions were used to give a brief overview of some of the techniques and provide people

with a refresher on skills. The sessions have included Finance for Non Finance Managers,

Coaching for Potential and an Introduction to Lean.

Quotes from Delegates

Very good course, provides an insight on why accounts are set out in a certain format I particularly liked the 'jargon buster'

A very good workshop, very pleased with what I’ve learnt and how the session was projected

Facilitated Events

As a result of our approach to understanding customer needs and the trust we have built up, we

have been asked to facilitate events on visioning, values, strategy, business planning and sales

awareness. A chemical company, who has worked with us for many years, have engaged us not

only in the induction and assessment of new employees, but also providing support to the em-

ployees facing redundancy.

We have been able to respond to a wide range of customer requests for non-accredited courses

customised to their specific needs. We have run Problem Solving and Time Management Cours-

es for a pharmaceuticals company and a range of management training sessions for companies

in the Chemical, Engineering, Biochemical, Petro Chemical, Construction and Steel processing

sectors. Sessions have been delivered in a wide range of service and non manufacturing includ-

ing social housing and vehicle leasing.
