This loudspeaker, with its excellent directivity and highpower output, can handle medium and large(reverberant) indoor environments, especially themore acoustically challenging ones. It is typically usedin congress venues, meeting halls and places ofworship. The full frequency range of the LBC 3201/00makes it ideal for speech as well as musicreproduction. Its exceptionally narrow housing (only8 cm wide) makes it extremely unobtrusive.

System overview

A time and labor-saving mounting method has beendeveloped for the LBC 3201/00. The loudspeakercomes with a chart, which shows the ideal installationheight for the area that the loudspeaker has to cover.Once the appropriate height has been determined fora given area, the loudspeaker is mounted at an anglemarked on the mounting bracket. This procedure ismuch simpler and more accurate than traditional trialand error installation methods. The LBC 3201/00 canbe mounted on a wall or directly onto a floor standLBC 1259/01 with an M10 threaded bolt withoutadditional accessories.

Functions

Range of applicationThe LBC 3201/00 is part of the XLA 3200 (eXtendedListening Area) range of line array loudspeakers.Advanced filtering and positioning of the loudspeakerdrivers has resulted in greatly improved audiodirectivity. Each speaker driver produces a dedicatedfrequency range. The specially developed high qualitydrivers enable reproduction of remarkably clear,natural sound, which gives excellent intelligibility ofboth speech and music.The difference between a conventional columnloudspeaker and this line array is noticeable in severalways. There is uniform sound distribution throughoutthe whole listening area: not too loud at the front, notto quiet at the back. All relevant frequencies arepresent everywhere in the listening area. Greatercoverage is achieved, so more people can be reachedwith speech and music with a higher intelligibilitylevel. All these important features give the experienceof a very natural sound quality in the whole listeningarea.

Easy installationThe advanced filtering generates larger verticalopening angles for high frequencies, so there is lessnarrow 'beaming' of higher tones in the vertical plane.As an example, at 4 kHz the vertical opening angle is

still 22°. Having more constant vertical opening anglesmakes installation easier, as the positioning of theloudspeakers is less critical because they cover awider area. An extremely wide horizontal openingangle of 132° at 4 kHz means that a single loudspeakercan provide natural sound reproduction over anextensive listening area.

Suppressed Side LobesAll conventional column loudspeakers produce a mainlobe of sound, which is directed at listeners, as well asa number of unwanted side lobes. The LBC 3201/00has highly suppressed side lobes in the vertical plane,typically at least 10 dB suppression of the 250 Hzoctave band at 90°, resulting in a much clearer, less'colored' sound, even when close to the loudspeakers.This gives the line array superb speech intelligibility.

Sound ReproductionThe positioning and very high quality of the 2-inchdrivers contribute significantly towards making theLBC 3201/00 a very efficient line array. With a soundpressure level of 110 dB at 1 m, and at 60 W, loud andclear sound reproduction is possible even atconsiderable distances from the loudspeaker.The high-quality loudspeaker drivers used in theLBC 3201/00 give excellent, natural soundreproduction of frequencies ranging from 190 Hz to18 kHz. Together with the constant directivity, thisensures that all important frequencies are heard in thelistening area.

Emergency CompliantThe loudspeaker has a ceramic terminal block, athermal fuse, and heat-resistant, high-temperaturewiring. These ensure that, in the event of a fire,damage to the loudspeaker does not result in failure ofthe circuit to which it is connected. Thus, systemintegrity is maintained, and loudspeakers within thesame loudspeaker zone in other areas can still be usedto inform people of the situation.The three-way ceramic terminal block with screwconnections is suitable for loop-through wiring, and islocated in a compartment at the base of theloudspeaker column. There is also a switch, whichallows the selection of nominal full power (60 W), halfpower (30 W) or quarter power (15 W). Thecompartment has knockout slots for accommodatingcables.

Certifications and approvals

All Bosch loudspeakers are designed to withstandoperation at their rated power for 100 hours inaccordance with IEC 268-5 Power Handling Capacity(PHC) standards. These loudspeakers also complywith the Simulated Acoustical Feedback Exposure(SAFE) test, which demonstrates that they canwithstand acoustical feedback at full power for shortdurations. This ensures extra reliability under extreme

conditions, leading to higher customer satisfaction,longer operating life, and much less chance of failureor performance deterioration.
