Larne Music Festival: Awards 2014 Medals will be awarded in each competition as follows, subject to the Adjudicator’s decision that the necessary standard has been obtained: No of Competitors No of Prizes One or two One Three, Four or Five Two Six or more Three A Certificate of Merit will also be awarded to all competitors in classes for age 11 years and under, and Piano Grade 3 and under. Trophies will also be award to the following classes:

New Trophies The Billy Andy’s Challenge Cup and a festival award of £25 for the Highest Mark in Traditional Classes. The Billy Andy’s Perpetual Cup for the Entrant with the most potential in Traditional Classes. The Charles Hurst Cup for Class P13: Pianoforte Repertoire – 18 years and under The Mulholland Cup for Class C9: Secondary / Grammar School Choirs, 15 yrs and under The AA Music Cup

Instrumental The Beattie Memorial Trophy and a festival award of £25 will be awarded to the top String player. The Ian Beattie Trophy and a festival award of £25 will be awarded to the top Brass player The Larne Rotary Club (Rita McLoughlin) Trophy and a festival award of £25 will be awarded to the top Woodwind player.

Pianoforte The Robert Farren Trophy and a festival award of £25 and will be awarded to the top Pianist as judged by the adjudicator The Larne Times Trophy will be awarded to the pianist with the most promising performance as judged by the adjudicator.

Friends of the Festival Scheme

Each year the Festival is an excellent means of encouraging and unearthing the vast musical talent found in Larne, its environs, and the East Antrim area. The Executive Committee needs financial support to ensure the continuance of this important event, and to that end the Friends of the Festival Scheme has been introduced. This brings together keen supporters of music who are willing to contribute £10 annually to ensure that Larne Music Festival remains an integral part of the Northern Ireland Festival scene In exchange Friends of the Festival receive:

Larne Music Festival - Child Protection Policy: Code of Practice

Although members of the Executive Committee of Larne Music Festival Association, and volunteers selected by that Committee, play a secondary role to that of accompanying school staff, parents or guardians of children taking part in the Festival, this Code of Practice is drawn up to enable members of the Executive Committee and official volunteers to fulfil their duties and: Ensure the well-being of children by providing a safe environment during the Festival. It

must be stressed that responsibility for children under 18 years of age and vulnerable adults (those with learning difficulties) rests with parents, guardians, carers, teachers – not with Festival staff

To set out appropriate response and procedures to deal with disclosure or discovery of

child abuse during Larne Music Festival To safeguard those who come into contact with children during Larne Music Festival

from the consequences of unfounded accusations Members of the Executive Committee of Larne Music Festival Association and appointed volunteers: 1. Shall report to the Chairman of Executive Committee any suspicion or misgivings he/she

may have concerning inappropriate behaviour or circumstances affecting children and must co-operate in reporting the details to the appropriate civil agencies. This will be done via a written record of aforesaid inappropriate behaviour.

2. Should ensure that there are at least two adults present with a group or with a child 3. The Executive Committee does not accept responsibility for instruments, personal

belongings/ money 4. The Executive Committee bans the taking of photographs and videos during the

Festival. Photographs may be taken by local press only, provided they have obtained permission from those with parental responsibility.
