RINGKASAN
panjang berupa pengujian teori pengenalan objek spesies mangrove melalui pola pantulan

memberikan tempat berpijahnya organisme laut, menjaga siklus makanan organisme laut,
wisata (Lugo & Snedaker 1974; Hutchings & Saenger 1987; Green et al. 1998; Giri et al.
lapangan,
b. pengembangan metode pemetaan sebaran spesies mangrove berdasar pola pantulan
kekurangan citra penginderaan jauh,
a. Inventarisasi data nasional (national data inventory)
b. Baseline kondisi sumberdaya spesies mangrove
c. Sebagai dasar pengelolaan dan perlindungan sumberdaya pesisir
d. Sebagai sumber data perhitungan neraca sumberdaya alam mangrove

sensor citra penginderaan jauh. Setiap pengukuran sampel dilakukan pengulangan pembacaan

cahaya/energi sama sekali.
gelombang spektrum inframerah dekat (750-950 nm).
pengamatan (Tabel 3.1).
Gambar 3.1. Pengukuran spektrometer lapangan; (a) kalibrasi alat, dan (b) pengukuran target
spesies mangrove.
(a) (b)
9
Masing-masing sampel spesies mangrove diukur kurva pantulan spektralnya sebanyak
10 kali.

proses perbandingan kurva pantulan spektral antar spesies. Sehingga perbedaan pola pantulan
indikasi adanya fitur serapan.
seluruh sampel spesies mangrove.
pemetaan objek kajian berdasarkan citra penginderaan jauh.
menjadi kelas objek kajian.
Sebelum dilakukan proses pemetaan perlu dilakukan penyesuaian rentang spektral
sampel kurva pantulan spektral lapangan.

ABSTRACT
Mangrove species inventory and mapping is very important as an effort to preserve the ecosystem and biodiversity of mangrove forests. One way of efficient mangrove species inventory and mapping is to use remote sensing imagery, especially through the analysis of its spectral reflectance pattern. This study aims to map the fourteen mangrove species on Karimunjawa Island, Central Java, Indonesia by: (1) measuring the mangrove species spectral reflectance pattern in the field, (2) characteristic analysis of the mangrove species reflectance pattern, and (3) mapping the dominant mangrove species distribution. The spectral reflectance measurement of mangrove species objects in the field was done by using JAZ EL-350 VIS-NIR (ranges from 300 to 1100 nm). The JAZ field spectrometer was pointed at a distance of 2 cm from the target objects with 10 reading repetitions for each species. Field measurements results were then taken to the laboratory for analysis of spectral reflectance and absorbance patterns, which served as key object recognition in this study. To combine the field and image spectral reflectance patterns, the field reflectance patterns were resampled to the spectral resolution of WorldView-2 image (8 bands, 2 m pixel size). The spectral angle mapper (SAM) method was the used to locate and map the distribution of each targeted mangrove species. As expected, the results showed that the largest difference of spectral curves between species was at the NIR wavelength spectrum (700-900nm). Hence, it is potential to be used as the basis for identification of species mangrove from remote sensing imagery. However, the result of this mapping approach only showed a low accuracy of 62%. The low value of map accuracy was attributed to the inaccuracy in defining threshold in SAM for each class. This study provides a basic understanding of the use of spectral reflectance for mangrove species mapping from remote sensing imagery.

1. INTRODUCTION Understanding the use of spectral reflectance in mangrove species mapping is important to support biodiversity inventory in coastal environment. Mangroves have specific spectral reflectance characteristics that distinguish them from the surrounding objects. The highest spectral reflectance difference is mainly found in near infrared wavelength (NIR, 700-1200 nm) and shortwave infrared (SWIR, 1200-2500 nm) which can distinguish mangroves from nearby objects, such as forested land, brackish mangrove, and mud flats [1,2]. Several studies have been conducted by linking mangrove spectral reflectance pattern and remote sensing images to map the mangrove ecosystem [3,4,5] and to identify mangrove species [6,7,8,9,10], with varying degrees of success. For mangrove species discrimination, the greatest species separability is evidence at the NIR wavelength due to differences in the internal structure of the leaves of each species and the difference in the geometry of the leaves and canopy [2]. SWIR wavelength is also valuable for this study because there is no visible variation of pigment conditions among mangrove species at this wavelength, and leaf components (salinity, sugar, water, protein, oil, lignin and cellulose) can be distinguished [9].

However, Blasco et al. [11] and Díaz & Blackburn [12] reported that spectral reflectance as an interaction mechanism between light (i.e. electromagnetic waves) and mangrove objects poses two major problems. First, mangrove spectral reflectance pattern is strongly influenced by the tidal effect and understorey objects, which causing large number of mixed-pixels. Secondly, many environmental factors are influencing the mangrove spectral reflectance so that the introduction by spectral reflectance is inaccurate. According to Diaz & Blackburn [12], the spectral reflectance variation of mangrove canopy is a function of some optical characteristics of objects, such as leaf area index (LAI), substrate base reflectance, and leaf orientation direction. For a single species, the pattern of spectral reflectance is affected by the age, health, and phenological characteristics and plant physiology [11]. Therefore, the spectral reflectance pattern measurement for mangrove species identification should be done carefully to avoid reading errors due to the influence of spectral reflectance of other than mangrove objects.
Up to this point, research on the influence of field spectral reflectance pattern to the mangrove species mapping result has not been adequately studied. Theoretically, the mangrove spectral reflectance pattern in the field can be used as the basis for identification of objects from remote sensing imagery. However, so far the validity of this theory can only be verified through controlled laboratory practice which is free from the effects of external disturbances, such as wind, direction and angle of solar irradiance, cloud cover variation, etc. In this research, we collected mangrove species spectral reflectance from the field and apply them to remote sensing data to map their distribution. This research is important to build the procedure of measuring the field spectral reflectance and its processing for mangrove species identification and mapping. Therefore, the aims of this research are to (1) measure the mangrove species spectral reflectance pattern in the field, (2) analyze the characteristics of the mangrove species reflectance pattern, and (3) map the dominant mangrove species distribution. The results of this research will help us to understand how field-based spectral reflectance measurement be used to map mangrove species distribution and identify the aspects that need to be considered before applying the field spectral reflectance of the object to any remote sensing image.
2. DATA AND METHODS 2.1 Study Site
The location of this research was mangrove forest in Karimunjawa Islands National Park, Jepara, Central Java, Indonesia (located between 110° 24' 10" - 110° 30' 10" E and 4° 47' 48" - 5° 50' 12" S). Karimunjawa islands consist of 22 islands with total area of 111,625 ha, where only five of these islands are inhabited [13]. Karimunjawa Islands represent several habitats including lowland rainforests, seagrass and algae, coastal forests, mangrove forests and coral reefs [14]. In general, along the coast of the island is composed of mangrove formations that protect the coast from the waves of the sea and wind. The largest mangrove area in Karimunjawa National Park is located in the west of the two main islands; Karimunjawa and Kemujan. There are three different mangrove structural formations recognisable from the land to the seaward margin in this site. The first landward formation is dominated by low multi-stem stands of Ceriops tagal and Lumnitsera racemosa. The middle formation is the single and multi-stem low-closed forest of highly mixed formation of Ceriops tagal, Lumnitsera sp., Rhyzophora sp. and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza. Lastly, closer to the shoreline is a formation of multi-stem closed forest consisting of Rhizophora mucronata and some individual Bruguiera gymnorhiza and Xylocarpus granatum. This site has a high variation of mangrove species. Based on reports from Karimunjawa National Park Authority, there are 45 mangrove species in this area (27 true mangroves and 18 mangroves), where Rhizophora stylosa is the most dominant species.
2.2 Image Dataset
The image used in this study was WorldView-2 (WV-2) with image characteristics specified in Table 1. This high resolution image was used for (1) positioning of the measurement sample in the field for the target mangrove species, (2) linking the field spectral reflectance result and the image, and (3) mapping the dominant mangrove species distribution. The image pixel value in digital number was converted to top-of-atmosphere (TOA) spectral radiance (W/cm2.sr.nm) using ENVI 4.8 software (ITT Systems, ITT Exelis, Herndon, VA, USA). This process was performed following the procedures and image correction coefficients of WorldView-2 provided by Updike & Comp [15]. Lastly, to obtain at surface reflectance image, a Fast Line-of-sight Atmospheric Analysis of Hypercubes (FLAASH) correction model was performed.

2.3 Field Spectral Reflectance Measurement
In general, spectrometry aims to measure incident light on an object (irradiance) or reflected light by an object (radiance) and link this parameter of light with the biological, chemical or physical properties of an object [16,17]. Some examples of biophysical properties that can be studied through spectrometry include vegetation chlorophyll content, aquatic organics, age and health of vegetation, and vegetation species. In spectrometry the tool used can be either a spectrometer or a radiometer that generally has a hyperspectral system, which consists of many narrow-span wavelengths. By using this hyperspectral system, it is expected that the object-light interaction is easier to understand; also for example the differentiation of the object also becomes easier to do based in the spectral reflectance pattern resulted.
In optical physics the object-light interaction is measured by a spectrometer, both laboratory and field spectrometers such as the Jaz EL-350. The main difference between these spectrometer types is in the light source; the laboratory spectrometer uses artificial lights while field spectrometer is designed using natural light (the Sun). Artificial light is designed in such a way as to 'approach' the sun's light, although the use of natural light certainly has its own advantages. The development of field spectroscopy is a technological breakthrough that allows measurements of light-object interaction on natural conditions. Modern spectrometers such as the Jaz EL-350 are equipped with high spectral resolution with a narrow spectral range (~0.4 nm) that allows the interaction of light-objects to be analysed in more detail. In addition to the different light sources used, this laboratory and field spectrometer allows the measurement of objects homogeneously. The object is measured in very close proximity to the sensor or termed proximate sensing so that the homogeneity of the object can be maintained and mixing with other objects can avoided [18].
The equipment used to collect mangrove spectral reflectance in this study was JAZ EL-350 portable spectrometer. JAZ is a portable spectrometer product from Ocean Optics (https://oceanoptics.com/) that is designed to support fast, precise, non-destructive optical measurements and without direct contact with object. JAZ spectrometer system is designed in the form of modular structure consisting of several autonomous modules that form a whole spectrometer system. The JAZ module used in this study consists of a Data Processing Unit (DPU), battery, and VIS-NIR spectrometer modules. Other than that, the JAZ system is supported by several components, including 2 m fibre optic cable, collimating lens, and white panel (spectralon). The JAZ detector wavelength ranges from 350 to 1000 nm, which covers visible to near infrared spectrum of the light. A collimating lens is attached at the front of the fibre optic cable. This component used to align the scattering light coming into the JAZ sensor to optimize the light signal. It covers the spectrum range from 200 to 2000 nm, and the field of view is set up 14.25°. This system can be used for various spectral-based measurements, including absorption, reflectance, emission or transmittance of the object or irradiance. This system is designed to be used for spectra sample measurements both in the laboratory and in the field.
Spectrometers and all supporting components need to be prepared and setup prior to the field measurements. The preparation includes what environment will we work in, what components are needed and whether they work well or need calibration. The field work was conducted on 8-12 April 2017 and 24-27 April 2018 between 09.00 to 11.00 a.m. During the field campaign, we followed the procedure of spectral reflectance measurement developed by our Remote Sensing Laboratory [18,19] (Figure 1). To normalize the light condition, a white and dark calibration was performed prior to each measurement set. The angle of spectrometer sensor (collimating lens) was setup at 45° against the direction of the sun light to avoid the shadow on the target object.

2.4 Mangrove Species Mapping
The result of the selected mangrove species spectral reflectance pattern is then used as the basis for identification and mapping of mangrove species distribution on WV-2 image. This process is done by first performing a spectral resampling according to the WV-2 image spectral resolution. The resampling results are then used as endmember or spectral samples of the target object. We used Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) algorithm to identify and classify the targeted mangrove species. SAM is a classification based on the spectral angle formed by a pixel to a spectral reference value on a feature space. The smaller the angle formed between the 'a' pixel with the spectral reference value (endmember) it will be more like the pixel 'a' with the reference object ([20]; Figure 2).
Figure 2. Material t is more similar to the reference than k, i.e. the angle (α) in radians between r and t is smaller
(Jensen [20] with modification).
This technique determines the similarity between two spectral by calculating the ‘spectral angle’ between them, treating them as vectors in a space with dimensionality equal to the n number of bands [21]. This process is illustrated in Figure 2. The image spectrum is then assigned into a correlation factor between 0 (low correlation) and 1 (high correlation) relative to the spectral library or endmembers. The spectral angle is the angle between any two vectors originating from a common origin (0 band’s axis value). The magnitude of the angle specifies the degree of similarity between material and reference; a smaller angle correlates to a more similar spectral signature, or similar to reference material [22]. Because SAM uses only the “direction” of the spectra and not their “length”, this method is insensitive to the unknown gain factor, and all possible illuminations of the same target were treated equally [22,23). The SAM algorithm computed the similarity of an unknown spectrum t to a reference spectrum r using the following equation, where n equals the number of bands in the hyperspectral image as shown on the following equation [20]:
α = ∑∑ ∑ (1)
A coincidence or small spectral angle between unknown pixel and specific feature class indicated the likelihood that the unknown pixels would be assigned to that feature class [8]. Therefore, smaller angle values indicated higher similarity between the pixel and the endmember. The smaller angle would be represented as darker features in the SAM’s rule images. The number of derived SAM images is equal to the number of endmember spectra used in the mapping.

3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION 3.1 Spectral reflectance of mangrove species result
The optical measurement module performed by JAZ EL-350 for this research is a reflectance, that is measuring the amount of reflected energy from the sun by an object at wavelength of 350-1024 nm. Each measurement of spectral reflectance begins with the lighting calibration at the measuring location. Such calibration requires the sampling of the 'white reference' spectrum or light/energy reflected (almost) perfectly with spectralon and 'dark reference' spectrum or no light/energy at all. Based on the comparison between the energy going into the sensor (almost) perfectly and without this energy at all, the spectral reflectance sample of the object can be made. The magnitude of the reflectance of the object sample relative to the white reference and the dark reference is as follows [25]:
%Rλ = 100% (2)
Where% Rλ is the percentage of reflected objects reflected, Sλ is the sample of the object's successor, Dλ is the dark reference, and Rλ is the white reference.
Spectral reflectance measurements of objects using JAZ EL-350 in default mode produce spectral reflect curves that are full of noise in near-infrared spectrum waves (750-950 nm). In fact, this part of the light spectrum is theoretically very important to distinguish the spectral response between mangrove species [2,9]. Based on previous research [17], the most optimum object reflect curve curve reading is the boxcar width value and scan to average of 10, and a distance of 2 cm from the object. Based on field identification results, 14 true mangrove species were found along the observation track (Table 2). We measured the spectral reflectance of each mangrove species sample 10 times. This repeating reading is intended to evaluate the consistency of spectral reflectance curve readings as a function of the variations in solar lighting during measurement. The average result of spectral reflectance curve reading of each species is presented in the Figure 3.

3.2 Mangrove species reflectance pattern characteristics
The mangrove spectral reflectance pattern recorded by the field spectrometer follows the general pattern of healthy and green vegetation reflectance (Figure 3), where absorption occurs in the blue and red spectra for photosynthesis, and reflectance on the near green and infrared. The readings of the spectral reflectance curves in each species are preceded by white and dark reference calibrations in relatively equal radiation conditions and at the same angle and spacing of the recording. This calibration is needed to find the baseline in the process of comparison of spectral reflect curves between species. So the difference in the spectral reflectance pattern is caused only by differences in the spectral response of mangrove species. In general, the near green and infrared spectra are very sensitive to changes in spectral reflectance especially at the range 520-580 nm and 740-890 nm. So the reading difference as a species function can be clearly visible at that range. This corresponds to the conclusion of Kuenzer et al. [2] on the effective wavelength location for the identification of mangrove species.
3.3 Mangrove species distribution
The effectiveness of measuring spectral reflectance curves in the field needs to be tested by mapping the object of study based on remote sensing imagery. The mapping in the context of this study is based on matching the spectral reflect curve of the field measurement results with the pixel spectral reflectance pattern in the image. If a pixel has a spectral reflectance pattern of the band in the same image or close to the spectral reflect pattern of the result of the field object, then the pixel will be described as the class of the study object. Before the mapping process needs to be adjusted spectral range of measurement results in the field with the curve of the object in the image. This process is technically often referred to as spectral resampling. In this process the algorithm searches and records the corresponding object curve points from both curve sources following the reflectance curve of the image. The spectral resampling results from 2200 channels of JAZ EL-350 to 8 channels of WV-2 are presented in Figure 4 below.
The algorithm used for mapping the mangrove species is Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM). The field spectral reflectance measurement results were used as endmember or spectral reference to map the targeted objects. The mapping process was done using ENVI 4.8 software. One important variable is the angular threshold of the spectral vector to determine the membership limit. In this research, based on several trials the vector angle of 0.1 was selected to map all of 14 targeted species. The result of mangrove species distribution is presented in Figure 5.
Figure 4. Spectral resampling result of mangrove species spectral reflectance curves based on WV-2 image.
The mangrove species mapping results show the dominant pattern of single species in areas adjacent to the waters, and the pattern of mixed species in the central part of the mangrove forest. Based on field observation the single species composition was dominated by Avicennia marina, Ceriops tagal, and Rhizophora stylosa (Figure 6a). The mixed species complex consists of several species of mangrove grown in the middle of the forest with low tidal frequency. The existence of a single species complex is possible because the species can survive in high tidal frequency conditions. In terms of mapping methods, there is still uncertainty in terms of determining SAM vector threshold values for each species. The results map above is the result of trials of some SAM vector threshold value scenarios, and those that are

seen as representative are used to map the distribution of mangrove species. Ideally each sample of the species has the same threshold, so the probability of occurrence of classes in the image is the same. Threshold differences can be caused by the inaccurate sampling of species spectral reflect curves in the field. Where the curve for an object does not specifically represent the object, but there are similarities with other objects. In addition, the image spectral resolution factor also greatly affects the accuracy of species distinguishing from multispectral images. Another thing that matters is the image spatial resolution of 2m pixels. Where in one pixel there can be several overlapping species.

condition rule was used; a species coincidence found between field data and map was considered as true, and dissimilarity between them considered as error. From the error matrix it is known that the accuracy of the mapping is 47 correct from the overall 76 samples, or 62%. So it falls into the category of low-moderate accuracy. From the error matrix it is known that Avicennia marina class has the largest error. This is because the spectral reflectance curve sample of this object is not specific, so the overlap with the curve of another object.
4. CONCLUSIONS AND FUTURE WORK Some of the conclusions that could be drawn from this research are: (1) measuring spectral reflectance in the field needs to consider the light source direction and intensity and measurement distance and angle, (2) near infrared wavelength (740-890nm) has the most distinct spectral pattern among different mangrove species and can be used for the identification of mangrove species, and (3) the spectral resampling and determination of the vector angle of spectral angle mapper (SAM) greatly affects the accuracy of the mangrove species mapping results. Based on the results of research, further research agendas could be suggested: (1) it is necessary to measure the spectral response of the object of mangrove species controlled in the field by using fixed-measurement, (2) a research on mangrove species absorption with leaf pigment analysis is needed, and (3) it is necessary to conduct research on the determination of the angle vector spectral angle mapper angle and its relation to the spectral sample of the object.
