June 23-30, 2012 Warm summer lake breezes, ice cream from the Whistle Stop, Patio donuts for breakfast,

family programs at Hoover, awesome choir every morning, stirring speakers, friends, family

It is now January 2012 and we are entering into the time of the year I call the “bleak mid-

winter”. But no matter how cold it gets or how dark the mornings and evenings may be,

there is a dream that gets us through until warmer days arrive...the dream of pulling up to the

gate at Lakeside to begin our week of rest and renewal.

There has been a major change for the first Lutheran week at Lakeside. Our week will no

longer be held over July 4th. We will be meeting the week before which means our dates for

2012 are June 23-June 30. Please make sure you note this when you make your reservations

for lodging .

Our presenter for this year is Dr. Dave Daubert. Dr. Daubert is a part-time parish pastor and

an expert in transformational ministry. He will be the guest preacher for Sunday morning

worship and will serve as the chaplain and bible study leader for the week.

Registration and gate fees will be unchanged this year. The gate fees are: Adult—$90; Youth

12 to 18—$55; under age 11 are free. Registration forms will be arriving in your mailbox this

spring.

For my family, Lakeside is more than just a dream. Each year it is a reality and we are

blessed to be able spend a week on the lake with friends. Imagine what the world would be

like if everyone had the chance to spend week at Lakeside. Please prayerfully consider mak-

ing a donation to the “Lutheran Lakeside Chautauqua” this year. With cottage rentals and

fuel prices always on the rise, your donation helps the planning team keep the registration

fees low so families can continue to share in the dream that is Lakeside.

Reverend Dr. Dave Daubert

Dave Daubert (DMin, PhD) brings his experiences as an agricul-tural engineer, nonprofit board member, parish pastor, and de-nominational executive to his work in organizational renewal. He has a certificate in nonprofit management from Michigan State University and is a managing partner at A Renewal Enterprise, Inc. Dave has published several books and articles, including “Reclaiming the V Word: Renewing Life At Its Vocational Core” (Augsburg Fortress, 2009), co-authored with Tana Kjos. One of the original architects of The Renewable Organiza-tion

TM, Dave is a frequent keynote speaker across the United

States, Canada and the Caribbean.

It was while working as an engineer for a manufacturing company that Dave first began to sense that people really want their work - and their lives - to matter. That passion for purposeful work - and meaningful engagement with the world around us - continues to

drive him in his work today.

Eventually, Dave's passion for helping people live lives that matter led him to attend Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, OH where he received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Sacred Theology. He has served as a parish pastor and in a variety of leadership positions across the institutional church, including serving as the Assistant to the Bishop for Urban and Multicultural Ministries in Omaha, NE, and then as the Director for Renewal of Congre-gations for the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in Chicago, IL. Along the way he earned a Doctor of Ministry in Preaching from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago; a Doctor of Philosophy in Theological Studies from the Graduate Theological Foundation in South Bend, IN; and a Certificate of Excellence in Non-Profit Organizational Management from Michigan State University.

Dave co-scribed, with Kelly Fryer, the book Seeing With New Eyes: Using the PAWN Proc-ess in Faith-Based Groups (2010). He is also the author of the best-selling book, "Living Lu-theran: Renewing Your Congregation" (Augsburg Fortress, 2007), which is helping congre-gations of every denomination articulate a new sense of purpose and direction.

Dave teaches in various seminaries and continues to serve part-time as a parish pastor in a

congregation where he shares a call with his wife who is a diaconal minister in the ELCA.

From 2000-2007, Dave led the team that designed the ELCA's Transformational Ministry

process. "We are more and more clear on what helps people and organizations change," he

says. "But we also know that without help most people and most systems won't make the

changes. Part of what is so exciting about the work that we've been doing is to see people

begin to dream again and to see them be able to pursue these dreams with some hope of

seeing them happen."
