«Et puis ils remontèrent cette admirable vallée de la Dordogne où l’on rencontre à chaque pas des vieilles demeures crénelées et des souvenirs historiques : Castelnaud, La Roque Gageac, Domme, Vitrac, Montfort, Fénelon et tant de châteaux, de sites pittoresques, de villages accrochés aux rochers comme des nids d’hirondelles…» Eugène Le Roy

    An exceptional site

Built on an ancient Gallo-Roman site, the hotel overlooks the Dordogne valley and its cliffs. Opposite the hotel, a calm green landscape, where only the forest of the Druids draws your attention. A view which transports you out of time and that grants the place an atmosphere of peacefulness and healing.

In the heart of the “Périgord Noir” 4-star Hotel La Villa Romaine, located at 7 kms from Sarlat, is right in the middle of the Perigord noir, a magnificent country side that owes its name to the dark foliage of the holm oak. The Dordogne, which is part of the Perigord Noir, is named after our well-known river on which you can also canoe. It has an unspoiled landscape, with a beautiful valley and its famous castles with sensational views. Close to Lascaux, which is situated in the Vezere valley, a site famous for its Paleolithic cave paintings, you find yourself in an area full with history with plenty of places to visit, including gardens, museums, caves, prehistoric sites and theme parks. You are in a place with a great culinary tradition, which is rich and savoury. It is a place where we take to time to look, feel and taste the sensations.

The charm of an authentic place

Restored with a profound respect for tradition, the buildings of the Villa Romaine form a large courtyard with an authentic charm. You will appreciate the setting with its Roman pond and its water lilies and the hall provides a place of calm and conviviality.
