Hi Cindy C . this is Beatrice--1 set u p the Beat contact with you last March at OLLU which was a blast!! I met you when you guys were at Little Caesar's by Holmes for the Carnival wrist bands--I'm not too sure if you remember. Last time you had D J s come to the Lake they did a presenation on what it took to be a DJ--this was a program that I did on behalf of RA(Resident Assistant). Well this academic year I am still an RA but also a Lake Ambassador(reps. of University-well recogonized organization on campus)--anyhow the point is the week of September22-25 is DILL0 PRIDE WEEK (dillo is ahort for armadillo- mascot). The Lake Ambassadors sponsor different events throughout the week to spread the dillo spirit around campus. On Wednesday the 24th it is Dillo Fun Day--we will have free junk food(popcorn, pickles, coton candy) for students, armadillo races, and armadillo pictures from 11:30-1:30prn in the Mall Area. We just got back from our retreat today where we discussed different ways to improve Dillo Day mainly(Wed.)--I as well the other Lake Ambasssadors thought that the OLLU students would really enjoy it if their was a radio station jammin in the mall area--draw more attention--what we want!! I was hoping that if at all possible that a group of young, outgoing DJS --last time we had a great selection(Rude Dogg, Lagy K, HAMM)would be able to come out to the Lake to help us advertise this event more--by either broadcasting from the Lake or maybe if at all possible-- a mixer DJ(which

wodd be awesome)!!! Maybe we could even set up a table esp. for 98.5 the BEAT--maybe they could bring items with the beat slogans(bumper stickers, shirts, etc.). Okay well I am really hoping that the BEAT crew will be able to come out to OLLU on Wednesday September 24th from 11:30-1:30pm--well I have a mtg with the Lake Ambassadors tomorrow so if you could find out as soon as possible. Tell the DJs we would really appreciate their assistance, and that they also will be able to enjoy the free junk food. Cindy, hi! Thanks again for all the help with the Fair. Check out the website (www.sanantonio.gov/ProjectWORTH) for great pictures of Rude Dogg and Danny B, and all the fun. I was hoping we can get the "Not Me, Not Now" radio spots tagged and on the air again soon. Last time we talked, Rene had them. These are the ones that we did focus groups on and the kids really liked. Please let me know what I can do to help get them on the air. Also, we are planning to videotape a LOCAL spot with LOCAL youth about Waiting is WORTH it! We are scheduled for 7:30-10 AM on Tuesday June 3, at Hemisfair Plaza. We have 10-20 kids who have worked on writing for the spot, and they will be there (weather permitting) for the filming. Could Rudy (or both Rudy and Danny) come to the filming to sign autographs and shake hands with our young actors and writers? Our rain backup location is the Central Library. We still have some confirmations on these locations, so the place is almost, but not completely, finalized. What do you think? We are preparing a gift for The BEAT, your Proclamation! I would like to bring it by when it is ready.. .can we meet next week? How about Thursday or Friday morning? Could we come on the morning show (briefly) to present it before we meet? Also, for your scheduling--we have rescheduled our Project WORTH Appreciation Lunch for Friday, July 18, 11:30 to 1 PM. This is a way to show all who have contributed to Project WORTH over the year how MUCH they are appreciated. I hope you and Rudy and Danny and Abby and Paul and Rene and J D can come!

DEPARTMENT OF THE AIR FORCE AIR EDUCATION A N D TRAINING COMMAND

Brigadier General Frederick D. Van Valkenburg, Jr. Commander, 37th Training Wing 1701 Kenly Ave Suite 201 Lackland AFB TX 78236-5103

Mr. Don Perry W O N TV General Manager 103 1 Navarro Street San Antonio TX 78205

Dear Sir

A few weeks ago, an Air Force service member’s mother knocked on your station’s door asking for assistance, and her plea was answered.

The mother’s journey began in Baltimore on her way to attend her son’s graduation fiom Basic Military Training at Lackland Air Force Base. New to the country and with strong language bamers, a mix up in travel arrangements resulted in a Dallas arrival instead of San Antonio. She eventually made her way to the Alamo City, where confused and short of funds, she sought solace at the studios of WOAI Channel 4.

Jennifer Broome and Tanji Patton stepped up to assist the distressed mother, not only notifying base officials of her plight, but also proceeding to give of their own funds for a return plane ticket. Kindness is a universal language; one the folks at WOAI know well. The station’s assistance allowed the mother an opportunity to take part in one of the biggest steps in her young son’s life and return home safely. I am very grateful to Ms. Broome and Ms. Patton for looking after a member of the Air Force family.

Allow me to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to all the staff of WOAI for the helping hand that was so generously extended. Thank you for your support and kindness.

Sincerely

Commander

It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you and members of your staff for an outstanding job as Media sponsor of the HEB MS150 Bike to the Beach.

Of the 2400 cyclists who registered from throughout Texas, almost all joined a cast of influential and local celebrities on a bike journey from Brooks City Base to the sandy beaches of Corpus Christi. Their endurance and team spirit will help us raise $1 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Lone Star Chapter.

This event has been called a logistical wonder and the tremendous support received from Tim Kiesling at ClearChannel Radio and Pat Bodet at WOAI N 4, complemented by their high level of integrity and professionalism was stellar. Tim and Pat's responsiveness amply illustrated the company's exemplary community service record and philosophy: service with excellence. More amazing was the commitment by 20 Clear Channel employees who trained and rode the 150-mile, two-day bike tour. Kudos to Jennifer Broome and Randy Beamer for completing the ride!

Mr. Mays, it is with the help and support of caring individuals and corporations like Clear Channel Communications and its employees that the event grew from 1,200 riders last year to 2,400 this year! Additionally, with this new level of awareness, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society is able to offer programs and services with greater efficiency in response to the needs of persons living with MS.

On behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, iet me thank you and your staff for your corporate support. Your commitment to broadcasting our event months leading up to it, combined with those of other sponsors and riders helped make the HE9 MS150 an overwhelming success.

Dear Mr. Perry:

The boys, leaders and families of Den 12 extend our sincerest thanks to all of the staff from WOAl who participated in our tour of the studios on October 14, 2003. Den 12 is part of Cub Scout Pack 66, which is chartered by University Methodist Church in San Antonio.

In order to fulfill requirements for a communicator pin, the scouts eagerly learned how news, sports and the weather are gathered, processed, and provided to the viewing public. They also learned of the various skills and expertise needed to produce the important news. It was apparent from their questions during the interviews and demonstrations that some of the scouts may be interested in pursuing careers in journalism.

We especially wish to thank Ms. Liz Quiiiones, who set up the tour, and Ms. Belle Rodriguez, who conducted the tour. They both did a superb job. Thank you most of all for caring enough to take the time out of your busy schedules to conduct such a tour for these children. You have made an impression on Den 12.

Sincerely,

Dear Donald, U With the help of donors like you, the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas is celebrating its.25* anniversary this year. On behalf of the directors of the FOET, thank you for your recent contribution of $125.00.

With the current world situation threatening government access and Freedom of Information, it is more important than ever to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the First Amendment.

Your support allows the FOIm to continue to preserve and protect these liberties by offering such services as the FOI Hotline, the annual state conference, the FOI FOCUS newsletter, the Texas FOI Handbook, a speakers bureau, and seminar series such as Responsible Rights: Government in the Sunshine, Open Government, and Education for Freedom. We also offer the First Amendment Institute. Graduates of the program take the lead protecting our First Amendment freedoms as well as the right to access public information.

In the First Amendment Institute. a faculty of experts works with a select group of applicants to study the importance of our First Amendment. Meeting four times a year, participants explore the history and philosophical concepts protected by the First Amendment and how they relate to current issues. Call us if you'd like to know more about the Institute.

Please let us know of Freedom of Information issues that come to your attention. Thank you again for your generous support. We couldn't do it without your help.

Dear Mr. Hogg:

On behalf of the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Antonio, sincere thanks for your generous support of our Viva Las Vegas Casino Night on November 9. Your table sponsorship enabled us to exceed our expectations and the children served by the Clubs will be the major beneficiaries as we enhance capacity and program opportunities.

Speaking of our children, the night was made particularly special by the attendance of our 2003 Youth of the Year, Valerie Burciaga and her mother. The crowd's standing ovation following her speech, which described obstacles Valerie overcame to achieve success, made all of us realize how sponsors such as yourself make our programs so meaningful. Thank you for creating opportunities for children like Valerie every day!

At this special time of the year, it is only appropriate to wish you, your family and the employees of your company a Happy Thanksgiving -we hope you enjoy the enclosed card.
