The Usage of the counters of BSC6000
• BSC6000 OMU summarize the original counters, generate files, and report the files to M2000.
• M2000 calculates the counter result and store the counter result into the database.
• BSC-level traffic statistic counters are output with intelligent report.
• The counter results are analyzed and queried with the client of M2000 or the performance browse tool.
• The counters are analyzed by using Nastar according to the configuration files and engineering parameters.
• For the detailed explanation of the counters, refer to HUAWEI BSC6000 Base Station Controller Performance Counter Reference

Introduction to M2000
• Manager M2000 mobile NE management system (M2000 for short) is a NM system of Huawei in the mobile communication field. M2000 uses the client/Server structure that is matured and widely used at present.
• One M2000 uses a set of servers and multiple clients that are connected with the server.
• The server of M2000 runs on Unix platform and supports the function of processing and saving NE data.
• The client of M2000 runs on Windows platform. As the interface between the operator and M2000, it provides graphic interfaces through which the operator can operate and maintain the accessed NEs.

How to Use the Performance Browse Tool
Copy the result file to the terminal
System –> Directory Conversion
• Start the performance browse tool as follows:Press Start -> Program -> Huawei Local Maintenance Terminal -> BSC6000VxRxCx -> Performance Browse Tool.
System –> Query Performance Results
Set counter information
Set time information
Finish the decompression of the files and the conversion of the contents and delete the original files after the conversion
Measurement cluster, measurement unit, and measurement counter can be selected in turn and selection in batch is supported
It is required to select a period (60 or 15), time, and time segment for the measurement.
Query
Select according to time segment and save the measurement results according to the measurement period
Set the counter information and time information to be queried and save them as a template

Explanations for the Performance counters of BSC6000
• The measurement objects for the counters of BSC6000 can be divided into 13 kinds, such as cell, TRX, and site.
• The counters of BSC6000 can be divided into 13 kinds of measurement clusters, such as call, channel, and MR.
• Each measurement cluster contains some measurement units and there are about 70 measurement units in all.
• Each measurement unit contains some counters and there are about 2,000 counters in all.
• In various documents and tools related to counters, the counters are expressed as follows:Short name of an counter: long name of an counter (xx) (xx)The xx in the bracket can contain the information such as the channel type, frequency band, and
cause value of the counter. A single counter can have multiple suffixes. For example: H3429Ca: Failed Incoming External Inter-Cell Handovers (Timer Expired) (TCH) (Traffic Channel)
• In the chapter name of the documents related to counters, “per xx” contains the measurement objects of the measurement units in this chapter.

After occupying a dedicated channel, MS will report measurement reports periodically. BSC performs power decisions and handover decisions according to the reported measurement reports. The units listed in the left table are used to measure the counters related to measurement reports and help the users to analyze and optimize the network performance.

During operation, BSC performs dynamic adjustment to such channel resources as TCH, SDCCH, and PDCH to optimize the utilization of resources. At the same time, the system is required to regularly output the statistic about the state of the channels, such as busy, idle, or blocked. The previous data is very useful for you to learn about the operation condition of the system and the distribution condition of the traffic.
