Sunday Confessions
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
On May 4, we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation of our
Religioius Education Program. It was a beautiful ceremony. We all
should remember
what this Sacrament means in our lives and in the life of the
Church.
The Catholic Sacrament of Confirmation
Just as bodies and minds grow, Catholics believe that the soul also
needs to grow in the life of grace. The sacrament of Confirmation
builds on the
sacraments of Baptism, Penance, and Holy Communion, completing the
process of initiation into the Catholic community. (Note: The
Byzantine Church
confirms (or chrismates) at Baptism and gives Holy Eucharist as
well, thus initiating the new Christian all at the same
time.)
What the Catholic sacrament of Confirmation means
Confirmation, a sacrament of initiation, establishes young adults
as full-fledged members of the faith. This sacrament is called
Confirmation because the faith given in Baptism is now confirmed
and made strong. During your Baptism, your parents and godparents
make promises to renounce Satan and believe in God and the Church
on your behalf.
At Confirmation, you renew those same promises, this time speaking
for yourself.
During Confirmation, the focus is on the Holy Spirit, who confirmed
the apostles on Pentecost and gave them courage to practice their
faith.
Catholics believe that the same Holy Spirit confirms Catholics
during the Sacrament of Confirmation and gives them the same
gifts.
Traditionally, the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom,
understanding, counsel, fortitude (courage), knowledge, piety, and
fear of the Lord. These
gifts are supernatural graces given to the soul. The 12 fruits of
the Holy Spirit are charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity,
goodness, long-suffering,
mildness, faith, modesty, continency, and chastity — human
qualities that can be activated by the Holy Spirit.
Being confirmed in the Church means accepting responsibility for
your faith and destiny. Adulthood, even young adulthood, means that
you must do
what’s right on your own, not for the recognition or reward but
merely because it’s the right thing to do.

Estimados Hermanos/as en Cristo,
entendimiento, consejo, fortaleza (coraje), conocimiento, piedad y
temor
al Señor. Estos regalos son gracias sobrenaturales dadas al alma.
Los 12 frutos del Espíritu Santo son caridad, alegría, paz,
paciencia, benignidad, bondad, longanimidad, benignidad, fe,
modestia, continencia y castidad,

Jolly Senior News:
April 10, 2018
Dear Fr. Bill
St. Turibius collected a total of $3,261.34 for the Women’s Center
in the 2018 Baby Bottle Project!
We are grateful for the generosity of your parish and the wonderful
donation we received from you and the parishioners. It is wonderful
that you believe in our Life Saving Mission and that your pa- rish
is so charitable. We appreciate your help with this endeavor. Since
the Baby Bottle project is an essential part of our organization’s
fundraising, it is an incredible blessing to us and the women
and babies we serve that we can count on your support.
These funds allow us to provide material and financial assistance
to women in crisis pregnancies. By choosing life for their babies
that can be assured that they will be provided with the many ne-
cessities they require. We have over 3,500 appointments with women
every year and give away
over $500,000 in material goods.
We want to express to you, Kathy, Elvira, the office staff, the
parishioners and everyone involved at your parish our sincere
appreciation. We have provided a few posters for display at
your
church to extend our gratitude and recognition of your great
accomplishment.
We are indeed thankful for all that your parish and you do on
behalf of defending LIFE!
May God Bless you always and congratulations and thanks
again!
Sincerely in Christ,
Mary A. Strom (Executive Director) Janet Back (Manager of
Development)
It’s Birthday Time and on May 10th we will celebrate everyone

required.
The Jolly Seniors send best wishes to all the moms to enjoy a Happy
Mother’s Day!
Our Last meeting before summer will be on May 24th at 11am in the
Felician Hall. Come and enjoy the afternoon and lets celebrate our
member Bingo Irene’s 106th Birthday.
Happy Birthday Irene!
There will be no meetings held during the summer. Enjoy yourself
the best you can and have a safe vacation.
A DAILY PRAYER FOR YOUR CONFIRMATION O God, I pray that you give me
a right heart, that I may come to know you in Jesus.
Lead me to know the sinfulness of my own heart, and your great love
for me, in Christ Jesus. Help those who teach me, to give me the
teaching I need.
Grant that, on my Confirmation Day, I may be ready to give myself
to be your faithful soldier and servant to my life’s end; Through
Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!
Saint Turibius Parish
Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in
God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate
ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all
our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our
strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will
respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus
Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of
Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our
time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family
all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can
bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways
we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet
us, who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
