The Future Of The Book.

This project is an exploration of the creative workbook, and its potential form in the future. It focuses on the navigational process of an online workbook, and how to encourage a more meaningful interaction with the text, static imagery, and video.

The final object, as seen here, is also the workbook that lead to its creation. By taking an object that existed only in a digitial space and turning into a physical being I hoped to add meaning and a personal connection to an otherwise sterile artifact. A video in an online space is constant, never changing. By putting it in a physical space and encouraging interaction from the consumer, it comes alive, gaining depth and creating interest.

By encouraging interaction I hope the consumer can gain a better knowledge of the process, and thereby place a higher value on the final output.

The TV Guide.

The TV Guide is a series of zines created as a reaction to the passive consumption of media within society. Through the recontextualisation of stories that appear in local media,The TV Guide strives to make explicit the misinformation that is spread through these channels.

The ultimate aim of The TV Guide is to awaken media consumers, to make them approach information in a critical manner, and to not accept all information they are presented with as the full truth.

The News Today 11.11.12

How do we know whether the information we are receiving through news media is an accurate representation of events? Information procured through news media has often passed through multiple filters and levels of distortion. Without an initial context for the information we are often presented with stories that are essentially meaningless, devoid of objective truth due to the lack of a broader context.

This document makes this link between context and truth explicit, leading the audience through a range of stories that were created on a specific day, the 11th of September 2012, and encouraging them to make connections, find a broader context. Through this process of discovery they are empowered, given a motive to research further, and question the information they receive on a daily basis.

Blast Design Festival.

Blast was a series of multi-disciplinary events that attempted to break the mould of traditional design conferences. With an emphasis on audience participation, Blast offered a deeper insight into the creative processes that drive some of the worlds most succesful creatives.

After a hiatus during 2011, Blast was bought back in 2012. A group of 5 of us was charged with not only giving Blast an identity, but also doing all the background work and creating the event from the ground up. The final event was comprosed of 5 events that went over 5 days and attracted hundreds of participants.
