Music for Seniors in Nursing Homes

Everyone can benefit from music activities in some capacity. Music therapy has been found to

be especially helpful to seniors in nursing home care.

Different forms of music and music therapy activities are beneficial and music therapy

for stress can dispel anxiety, tension and fear. Music therapy for depression can alleviate

a sense of loneliness and isolation, especially in group sing-a-longs or musical participation

activities. Music activities and music therapy for the seniors has garnered respect as a

means of helping seniors deal with these various conditions.

Kennebec Manor realizes that although music therapy is a specialized area for trained

therapist, it doesn’t take special training or musical background to apply music for general

benefit to seniors and the elderly residents in a care facility. Some of our entertainers, such as

Delbert Worden below, go from room to room singing old favorites to our residents.

For the Love of Chocolate

The residents got to do a chocolate taste test “For the Love of Chocolate”.

There was no problem getting them to try the various chocolate treats and

the taste test was given a thumbs-up.

International Women's Day March 8, 2015 MAKE IT HAPPEN

All around the world, International Women's Day represents an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women while calling for greater equality. Make It Happen is the 2015 theme for our internationalwomensday.com global hub, encouraging effective action for advancing and recognizing women.

Each year International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8. The first International Women's Day was held in 1911. Thousands of events occur to mark the economic, political and social achievements of women. Organizations, governments, charities, educational institutions, women's groups, corporations and the media celebrate the day.

Various organizations identify their own International Women's Day theme, specific to their local context and interests. Many charities, NGOs and Governments also adopt a relevant theme or campaign to mark the day. For example, organizations like the UN, Oxfam, Women for Women, Care International, Plan, World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and more - run exciting and powerful campaigns that raise awareness and encourage donations for good causes.
